Amiable as ever and obedient, Vanessa followed Ian through his home. She was in a pleasant mood, and feeling very good about herself. It showed in the way that she walked. There was a little bounce in her step, and her arms swung loosely at her sides.
Nobody had ever told Vanessa what a derp was before, and she opened her mouth to ask, but was interrupted by Ian's smile. Until becoming a senshi Vanessa had never owned a cellphone, and her first instinct was always to recite the apartment number.
"…Uuuuuh…"
It took some work for Vanessa to recall the other one off the top of her head.
"…5-5-5…" Vanessa paused to scratch her head, "…7-2-7… 8-7-91…"
"Oh, sorry, it's actually 78, 91. Not 87, 91. I think."

Ian took down the number, making the corrections as she went, then saved it. "Here, let me give you my number and then you can call my phone and I'll make sure we got it right." He waited a moment for her to get ready, then gave his digits in sequence.
Once numbers were traded, he moved to the cabinet and reached up (first with sore arm, then, wincingly reconsidering, reached with the other arm instead) to grab two cups. The red-haired boy set them both on the counter beside his phone, and walked to the refrigerator.
"Go ahead and call me," he said with a smile as he passed Vanessa. "Phone's on vibrate, so we should hear it buzz." Tugging the door open with care, he leaned into the fridge and picked out the milk. He considered grabbing the jug of honey green tea, too, but decided with how full it was to fetch both drinks one at a time. Ian peered intently at his phone as he returned to the counter to pour Vanessa's milk.

Vanessa had tiger blood and Adonis DNA. Of course she was ready, when Ian gave her his phone number. She was ready yesterday.
Still, it was very nice of him to give her a moment. The buttons on her phone were small. And her fingers were clumsy. They flew across the number pad with a speed that had more to do with reckless confidence than it did precision. <********," she mumbled under her breath, after hitting the wrong key. "This phone is so dumb sometimes."
In the end, Vanessa only had to backspace twice. And then Ian's number was safely stored in her phone, and he was doomed to what might be a lifetime of at least weekly text spam. She smiled playfully at Ian, and called him when he bid her to call him.
For a long moment, there was nothing. And then--
buzz buzz buzz

A smile spread across Ian's face as the phone buzzed, and he let it go on doing so while he poured milk. Once the cap was back on the carton, he moved back to Vanessa and handed her the cup.
"There you go," he told her, then went to trade milk for the tea for himself. When his head was out of the fridge again, he went on, "Thanks again, for bringing the homework by. And now that I have your number, I promise we can talk more some other time when I've got a brain and I don't hurt quite so badly."
A girl had just given him her number. Usually this would have seemed profoundly strange, since Ian knew he was hardly a ladies' man, and he had really only just recently met Vanessa. But she had seemed nice and friendly, and had not called him a dork or anything when he showed her his video game, and on top of that, he was too spaced out on pain killers to really be paying attention to the proper level of anxiety for the situation. Maybe later he would freak out a little, likely in a good way, but for the moment, he was more worried about the backlog of homework than anything else.
