Sorting the various fruits he had gathered by the length of time they would last, Gale noticed that the supply of his herbs had began to diminish. Most of the herbs he used were native to the surrounding forest, which he took plenty of time sampling and experimenting when he set up residency, but the few that were low were only native to the forest further south from Usank, Sayatea. Venturing out that far was always a risk, especially since his tribe had sent scouts searching for him to aid in the conflict for the House of Chaos, which they had sworn to generations ago. He pulled his scythe from the wall and strapped it to a leather band between his wings before he left, south-bound through the trees.

"The ruins? In the east?" A strident voice rang behind them.
An old nicatal dressed in rags and with unkempt fur had crept up behind the exotic travelers and had overheard their conversation. He was staring at them with wild eyes, almost foaming from his mouth and waved an old wooden walking stick under their nose almost menacingly. "Do not be mad, children! That place is cursed! You will doom us all should you head there," he hissed, spit flying out at each of his words as if to emphasize them and shaggy hair bristling.
And then, as if struck by sudden epiphany, his eyes bulged out and he let out a terrified scream. "No! You must be one of them! Advocates of the Devils hiding under your civilized looks! You will not have me alive!"
Before anyone could stop him, the old man threw himself down from the wooden platform. A few bystanders had made a move to stop him, but it was as though the old nicatal had been possessed. They could only watch helplessly as his tiny figure crashed against the forest floor a good 200 feet or so below. A few shocked gasps were heard, but most were surprisingly nonchalant about the events.
"So the senile old fart has finally snapped," someone grumbled.
"At least we won't be hearing him preaching anymore. If I have to listen one more time about the ancient order of Lataria, I will be following him suite."
"The place is said to have hidden treasures though."
"Tchyea, right! If we can actually get anywhere near that place without getting torn to shreds by the beasts roaming the area..."

Noa turned in time to see the old creature begin its rant. Studying the being, he was going to ask questions about what he had meant but was too late as he turned and flung himself off the side. Calmly walking over, Noa had time to look over and watch the final part of the man's decent to the ground as people began to gather and talk amongst themselves. This would be a good a time as any to ask them about what the old man meant and where this location was. Over hearing the ancient order of Lataria, Noa walked over and studied the group who were talking about it. "Might I ask what that was all about? I am interested in this order of Lataria I heard you mention, might you fill me in?"

The group of nicatal looked at Noa and his companions curiously, golden eyes blinking owlishly. It wasn't every day that they had foreigners in the area.
"Oh, don't mind the senile old man. He's been babbling about that old fairy tale for years," one of them purred while giving Farrokh a once over. "There are many much more interesting and safer attraction around the area. I could show you around if you would like..."
"Stop it, I don't think that's a good idea," another one whispered quickly in their companion's ear. They had clearly noticed Izanami and Farrokh's relationship and nervously dragged their friend away to leave the oldest of the group to deal with the exotic tourists.
"Ahem, it's a really old legend," the feline started, clearly uncomfortable with the situation, but he had seen how the woman had almost thrown the thief down so he would do the minimum and get the crap out of there."If you look east, there are ruins of an ancient civilization mostly covered by the forest's vegetation, except for the temple that you can see even from here. It is still in perfect shape, but no one has managed to get close to it as well."
The 'as well' was referring to the giant tree in the west, but he did not deign it worth mentioning since there was nothing interesting in the area except dangerous beasts.
"It is said that it used to belong to an ancient order that protected the Multiverse by sealing evil away, but there are no written records of it as far as we can tell. No written documentation has ever referred to it as an official organization. It is merely a legend that has been passed down through many generation. Feel free to go visit it, but you may want to restock. Um, is that all?"

Noa looked off in the direction the nicatal mentioned. It would be some time til they reached that place, and they had only arrive recently and were in need of some supplies. It would not hurt to gather some thing before heading out again, and they could work for some extra coin. Looking back to the lone citizen, Noa went through possible thoughts, it did not help one of the spirits whispered in his mind that they could teach him more. A servant for the AVATAR they stated. Knowledge from the dead was nice, but Noa wanted to get some information from the living first. "Are there perhaps any available jobs around here. We are in need of funds for our journey. I know a few things about how to handle curses if there as some who suffer. It would be helpful our cause."

After Izanami finished interrogating the pickpocket and possibly scarring him for life, Farrokh looked to her and said,
" You are one frightening girl, Izanami. ", with a warm smile. He turned to see the creature rambling and dropping to the ground. Looking around at the crowd gathering, Farrokh felt uneasy about it.
Farrokh gave a blank look at the person making a pass at him, and he could tell Izanami wouldn't like it either.
" Thanks for the invitation, but I think I'll pass ", he said.
He looked over to Noa dealing with the crowd. He walked up next to him and put his hand on his shoulder.
" This sounds like it could be interesting. Shall we go look for it? Wild beasts don't sound like too much of a hassle for people such as us. I think stocking up on supplies is a good idea though. " he said.
He looked around at the people and asked,

Gale was quick to take to the trees as soon as the forest opened up into the tree-city of Usank, relieved to return to the moderate peace of the settlement. He knew he would have to leave the city before the Nicatal got too suspicious of him, no matter how comfortable they were. Rumors of him would spread here eventually, and then it would become dangerous for him to stay.
"Darkwing!" a piercing voice said from an adjacent tree, a female harpy with bright orange wings said, standing between him and his home.
"Neferet. Somehow I am not surprised." Gale said, eyes shifting around for an escape route. "Here to bring me back to your father?" He asked blandly.
"You swore an oath to serve your people, and your people are sworn to serve Evolution. I am here to make you honor your word!" the female harpy said, refusing to leave her spot. "And you know I don't take no for an answer."
"I have made my feelings on the subject clear to the tribe, Neferet. I will not change it for you, though our intended betrothal would imply your opinion mattered." He was tempted to just fall back, but he knew that the woman had chased so far and was unlikely to give up so easily.

"Well, if you insist...I wouldn't say that that I know of any curses, but if you wish for a bounty..."
The nicatal paused, running its clawed fingers through the tuft of fur he had been letting grow on his chin in hopes of one day be able to done a full, manly beard. "This isn't really official," he started, eyes darting around nervously once more finally making up his mind and dragging them to a nearby wooden hut. "but I've heard that a couple of travelers have been nosing around the ruins of Lataria. Usually, people only go there to sightsee and are forced to leave before actually reaching it due to the critters in the area so we are fine with that, but these people have actually managed to get past those creatures and are snooping inside the temple ruins."
He was rambling, practically writhing his hands and shuffling his feet. "It's not that we care about the ruins, it's just that there's a rumor going around that those people have been picking off random travelers, strangers who will not be missed, and dragging them in there. This city is very young and almost unknown to the outside world. Almost no merchants ever comes in this direction and it is terrible for the economy. We've barely started to sign a few contracts with outsider businessman, but if this persist, I worry for not only our business, but for our own safety so I, along with many of my brethren, wish for you to get rid of those people."
The nicatal was obviously not used to the whole idea of killing. He was sweatting profusely and had to wipe the sweat off his brows on more than one occasion a. He had to emphasize on the fact that he was not the only one wishing for those people's death so as to lighten the load on his shoulder. He had also just told complete strangers information that would be incriminating should they decide to denounce him.
╔═════════════ Gale had taken off as soon as they were within sight of Usank's trees. So the birdman was in good enough shape to fly, but perhaps not for an extended period of time. Kishi took note of the direction the Harpy had flown off to and ordered Nox to keep an eye on him. Though he did not like to be separated from his guardian spirit, he could tolerate it for a few hours.
"Well then," he said, clasping his hand together under his chin and turning to face Jamie. "Thank you for your help. I suppose I should leave you to your potion making, but before that, may I have one of your hair ornaments?"
It was the equivalent of asking for the witch's contact information. A messenger could only reach someone should they have an object that has once belonged to the recipient of a message. He would have loved to stay a bit longer to try and convince Jamie to join in the factions' struggle for power. The man did not seem to lean towards both sides which appealed to Kishi greatly. "Are you sure you have no interest in exploring the outside world? I could use someone with your skills."
Meanwhile, Nox had finally managed to locate where Gale had flown off to, but stayed hidden after noticing the presence of another harpy. The mention of Evolution had the little sphere of light bristle. Due to the distance separating them, its connection with the koroki had been greatly weakened to the point that they could barely communicate emotions to one another, but Nox had to let Kishi know!

Decreases Hit chance by 3 of all parties standing in the smoke. Light magic is the only kind that can dispel it and to do so, it must be a spell that uses twice the amount of MP that this spell used to be casted (so 20MP) Something needs to be done about how one can escape the cloud. No curses for Noa to make a living from, sometimes he wondered if he took the wrong line of work. As for bounties, there were some located near the temple who have been killing people. It was not his place to say what they were doing, but since it was on their way and Farrokh seemed interested in such things, he decided to go along with it. "If you mark where is temple is on this map," He unrolled a piece of parchment of the surrounding area. "As well as where your village is for a reference, we will deal with these murders as we look into the temple."

The large feline let out a sigh of relief, thinking that Noa's words meant that they would take on the job. "It's East of here," he said and pointed at one of the few patches of land near Usank without towering trees. The map showed a river and high cliff separating Usank from the ruins, but otherwise, it was almost a straight line. "Going around the waterfall may take a little while, but I suspect that there is a secret path directly cutting through them otherwise those people couldn't possibly move about that quickly."
"I don't live in my native village anymore, but many of my friends and family still live there," he explained and pointed at another village northwest of their current location. "Most of the permanent resident of Usank are those that have decided to abandon tribal life, forsaking past rivalry forced upon us by our ancestors. We are trying to become a united people to adapt to the outside world."
"I don't see why I would do that." Jamie responded hen Kishi asked for one of his pretty baubles. He only just met the curious little koroki, and he didn't want any more strangers tumbling into his forest, especially ones that were looking specifically for him. Jamie stepped into the lift that would carry him up into the tree tops. "I will take you to the edge of the forest if you require assistance, but I have some shopping to complete first." Jamie gave a small bow to Kishi before taking the lift into the city.
Jamie knew the city well enough to find the market easily. He wanted perform a certain ritual and needed components for the spell. The witch browsed through the various stalls in the market, searching for what he needed. "Three pinches sea salt, one black lily, a tuft of Cervisonge fur." Jamie recited the formula to himself. Black lilies and Cervisonge could both be found in Sayeta, so all he really needed was some sea salt. Unfortunately he didn't see any at any of the market stalls. It looked like Jamie was going to have to travel past the borders of the forest.
On his way to one of the lifts out of the city, Jamie passed a small hunt and picked up pieces of the conversation of those within it's walls. They spoke of bandits to the east. Jamie knew black lilies grew in abundance in that area, and if he could help increase trade to Usank all the better. He didn't usually travel to that part of the forest because of the cursed mist that lingered in the air.

╔═════════════ "Well, that didn't go too well," Kishi sighed as the lift brought the androgynous man up into the city and away from his reach. At least he had a general idea of where the man's hut was so if he got lucky and were more prepared next time, he may actually manage to find him again. He had made sure to memorize the road from the man's hut to Usank so he should be able to retrace his steps even if it was in the opposite direction.
He wasn't sure Jamie had gone to, but he opted to take the lift up and explore the city. He had never been to the city so he should learn as much as he could about it. Perhaps he will be able to find someone useful... He needed to make contacts after all and scout for new talent.
Just as he stepped into a life however, a rough sand-colored nicatal shoved past him. "Piss off, runt. This is my lift. Get the next one,"he jeered before starting activating the peculiar contraption.
Hrm, definitively not his day. Kishi had been in a bad mood ever since he had lost sight of 2 potential candidate and this man was only making things worst. "An eye for an eye," he muttered with a cold grin and leaped onto the rising lift before the nicatal could stop him.
The nicatal had not been expecting that from his stunned expression, but his brain soon caught on to the situation and allowed him to make use of his jaw again. "What are you trying to do, pipsqueak? Are you looking for trouble?"
"Well, I really wanted to get up you see..."Kishi started.

Light magic is the only kind that can dispel it and to do so, it must be a spell that uses twice the amount of MP that this spell used to be casted (so 20MP) Something needs to be done about how one can escape the cloud. They were still fairly close to the forest floor so he had expected the feline to leap out of the lift to avoid the attack. "Yo, who do you think you are talking to?" he growled, claws closing around Kishi's wrist to keep him in place. "You think I would let a kid like you push me off? This little splinter is nothing."

╔═════════════ "You wouldn't understand," the nicatal coughed, spewing even more blood onto the floor of the lift. "It's the law of the jungle, but fighting openly means certain death so no one does that anymore."
It took Kishi a moment to understand where the nicatal was going and frowned. "Well, now I'm the one that looks like a bully."
Animals avoid confrontation when possible as it is too energy consuming. Instead, many rely on intimidation. Should one look weak, they will lose all respect from their peers and be treated as inferior.
"Still, a stupid idea," Kishi sighed before giving the nicatal a quick blow behind his head to knock him out despite his struggles. "I will be leaving you here and let fate decide what happens to you."
With that, he wiped his dagger on the man's shirt and took the potion poking out of the feline's pocket. In the worst case, the nicatal could push it off as a robbery. Kishi would be in trouble, but he doubted that he would be staying too long here. After making sure he had no more blood on him, Kishi leaped onto the nearest wooden platform he could find, abandoning the lift to be discovered along with its bloody package.
