"Yeah, pretty sure I do." The girl seemed to be keeping inventory in her head, until she deemed it to be so. "And sure, I have a bunch of movies. There'll probably be something you'll like in there..."
It was a few minutes before they were here, to a place that the blonde hadn't been for quite a long time - though from the outside, nothing had changed. Even the tire swing was still in the backyard, through it looked like it had seen better days.
Ashley fumbled through her pockets until she found her keys, then unlocked and let the both of them inside. "Feel free to do as you like - no one should be coming around until the weekend." She doubted Matthew would drop by - and even if he did, what ill would it do ?
And then, finally, she grinned, and let out a sharp whistle. It was all that it took for something pale to zip through and practically leap down the stairs. That something was an adult golden retriver male, panting and wagging his tail happily at the sight of his mistress, though... Elton started to sniff at Demy curiously. He didn't know this one !

After his babbling about the movies Demy had fallen oddly quiet on their trip to Ashley's house. His mind wandered to the city, to the places he'd cross off his map as he and Ashley resumed the search tomorrow.
It was in this haze that he followed Ashley inside, barely realizing they had even arrived. The thing that brought him out of this haze was a sudden sharp whistle. The boy jumped at the sound, looking around rather startled.
Then suddenly there was something sniffing around at him, and when Demy looked down he broke into a huge grin.
"A puppy!"
Or...not. But eh, all dogs were puppies to Demy. Grinning more, Demy flopped down on the ground so the dog could get at him easier.
"Cmere puppy!"

Indeed, Ashley's puppy was rather... big. And not a puppy at all. At least not outwardly. Inwardly, well... Elton came over without needing much in term of motivation to do so, sniffing the boy's hands, his tail never stopping in it's wagging.
Then he rolled over, belly up, and looked at Demy with what could only be called puppy eyes. The meaning was clear - pet me !
Ashley chuckled, and then slid of toward the kitchen. She had promised tacos, after all.

All that could be heard from Demy as she cooked was rampant giggling as he played with Elton. Hell yeah, dogs were AWESOME. It was a shame Heather would only let him have fish (and even those she hated), but...well at least he could visit Ashley a lot and play with her dog, right?
The blonde definitely gave Elton LOTS of pets. Lots and lots and -lots- of pets, and hugs, and hell he even rolled around on the ground to play with the dog while they waited.

It made her smile to watch them, really... It made her happy to see him happy, if only for a little while. If only for a fleeting moment. She knew it wouldn't last... couldn't last, not as long as there were others missing.
Was it selfish, for her to just want him to relax, to want him happy ? Was it selfish to obviously put him over the others, who were ever now going through only god-knew-what ?
Truth was, she needed him. Not just as her captain.
"Taco's ready !" She called out once she had everything plated.

Somedays, Captain Scheelite really did need someone looking over him to be sure he didn't worry himself into oblivion over the others. Scheelite, the Negaverse's own little 'special' agent who had stuck out like a sore thumb when he was new, had grown into officer who was dead set on sharing a bit of that joy with everyone he worked with. Happy officers made for better work, right?
Right!
So even when there weren't officers missing, he was usually busy concocting some get together, or planning a side trip to go check on another officer and deliver his own special brand of awesome. The Negaverse had rebelled at first and it seemed like Scheelite would never set in. Now though? He had wiggled his way into their hearts and earned his own place of light in a world of darkness.
A smile still on his lips, Demy went running into the kitchen with Elton barking at his heels.
"Tacos!"
Oh yeah, his love for them had never waned. It was one thing that was still the same after their time of drifting apart.

"Try to leave me some, will you !" She teased, clearly amused. "And no slipping any to the dog."
She didn't expect it was beyond Demy. Elton was already on the warpath, laying down at the blonde's feet once he was seated, looking up with big chocolate brown eyes.
Puppy eyes given definition.

"But Ashleeeeey! Look at him, he's so CUTE, and he just wants some tacos! Tacos are like the best food ever so can you blame him? Can't he just have some? Pleaseeeeee?"
Too late anyways, he was already slipping a piece of taco down to the dog, shell and all.

Too late. The piece had already vanished in the golden retriver's maw, shell and all, and now Elton was keeping busy with licking Demy's fingers clean.
Ashley sighed, "And now he'll just keep begging for more all the time." She threw a small bit of cheese at the blonde, teasingly. "Meanie. If he throws up, you're picking it up."

"Of course he should beg for tacos! Tacos are awesome." And then the bit of cheese thrown at him ended up in the dog's mouth as well. Demy might have made it to Negaverse Captain, but he wasn't good at listening when he didn't want to. ...Which was often.
Rather than comment on the possibility of the dog hurling up the delicious tacos, Demy simply dug into his own food.
"Mmmmm, these are GREAT!"

Ashley had half a mind to pelt Demy with anything in her house that wasn't bolted down, in the most loving and friendly kind of way, of course. Sometimes, the blonde was just impossible.
At least the idea of cleaning up dog barf seemed to have calmed his urges to feed his whole plate to her dog.
Maybe.
One could never be 100% sure with Demetri Wright. Ashley had experience on that front.
And so, Ashley ate her own tacos. "Why thank you~"

It didn't take Demy too terribly long to eat his dinner, and thankfully he ate most of it with only very minimal passed down to the dog. In the end it came down to whether or not Demy wanted to share his own tacos.
Hint: he really didn't want to.
When he -was- done Demy actually made the move to get up and clean up his own plate, which was a vast improvement over when she had known him before. Apparently living with Heather had rubbed off on him a bit.

Which was good, because Ashley had her own plate to wash. And her pans. It was all done pretty quickly, through, and then she led him to the living room. It wasn't very different from what he might remember, though the wide-screen tv was new. The paint on the wall was new, but when one got down to it, It was still the same old couches that they'd jumped all over as kids.
"What movie did you want to watch ?" She eyed the shelf full of DVDs with a critical eye.

Which was....well it could be just about anything with him. Demy scooted up behind her, draping all over his shorter friend as they eyed the DVDs together.
"Something awesome, with something that goes boom in it. How 'bout that?"
Still a wide range of choices there.

"Well, arn't you helpful~" Ashley let out a small chuckle, then finally picked up one dvd from the shelf. She wasn't all that familiar with the movie, but her father's love of disaster flicks certainly wouldn't let Demy's taste down.
"Well, if there's something going boom on the cover, there's probably a lot of things going boom inside, hm ?" She mused as she put the disk in the player.
Elton had followed the two teens like... well, the puppy he certainly wasn't anymore - and he jumped on the couch to all but lay down on Demy after the blonde had settled. Ashley gave a playful pout. "I think my dog likes you better than he likes me. This is horribly unfair." Somehow, she managed to wriggle herself in what little was left of the sofa.
