"Gracias, Senorita Sparrow," Catalina said, graciously. "I'm sure your talents will work well for you in my classroom."

Catalina eyed the other students, wondering if they too would say something about themselves or if she should start the lesson.

Catalina cleared her throat and drummed her fingers on her desk. The only way to get this class more lively was to start it. Her husky voice drawled, “Today we will begin our venture into understanding the muggle culture and their society. I have written your assignments-,” she paused, gesturing to the blackboard where a lone piece of chalk scraped across the slate, its invisible owner finishing the last sentences of the instructions. “-on the blackboard. Por favor, refer to it. For those of you who will be using my materials, they are aqui.” She pointed a long, thin, perfectly manicured finger to a table at the front of the room. You may begin. You have from today until abril 1 to finish the assignment.”

Quote:
First years: When we examine a culture, the most important thing to look at how that group came to be. Today you will look at muggle history books I have collected over the years. I want you to start by finding and reading the sections on the Greeks and Romans. After you are done, you will write a brief two-paragraph essay about why the formation of their governments influenced may have impacted most muggle systems of governments as well as the wizarding governments in most countries. This essay is due at the end of class.

Second years: One of the best ways to learn about a group of people is to read some of their books. Literature gives us insight into what is worth writing about, what values a people has, and the daily struggles of that group. Like literature in the wizarding world, muggles write to inform, entertain, and to document. Today, you will take a field trip to the library where we have a small collection of muggle books. Pick out a muggle children’s book, read it, and write a short, two-paragraph essay over the moral or theme of the story, why muggles might read this particular story to their children, and how this is similar to stories wizarding parents read their children. This will be due at the end of class.

Third years: In the wizarding world we can explain most phenomenon. However, muggles have a fascination with how and why everything in their world works. For that reason, you will assume that same mind frame for this class. Today we will be examining the muggle explanation for plant growth. Muggles call this process “photosynthesis.” I have several muggle text books available for you. You will either create a drawing or write a two-paragraph essay detailing the process of photosynthesis, and explain why you think wizards do not feel the need to understand processes like these, or why they should make the effort. This is due by the end of class.

Fourth years: Wizards are very much accustomed to wearing robes, however, there are some who prefer muggle clothes. Today we will compare the two and see why. I have collected magazines from the muggle world that deal with fashion. You will select one casual outfit from a magazine, casual being comfortable everyday dress, and write a two-paragraph essay on how it contrasts with robes. Tell if you think you would prefer the robes or the muggle outfit if you had a choice. Turn in your magazine picture with your essay at the end of class.

Fifth years: Muggles enjoy many of the same forms of entertainment as wizards. Today, you will listen to some muggle music I have provided, choose one to listen to, and interpret the message the artist wants you to take from the song. When you are finished, you will write a two-paragraph essay on what message the singer is conveying, and how this same theme relates to the wizarding world. This essay will be due at the end of class.

Sixth and Seventh years: Today we will be covering the correct way to communicate with muggles from large distances. For wizards, it is customary to use methods like floo powder or owl to communicate with one another. Muggles would be frightened if their hearth tried talking to them, or if owls delivered their post. Therefore, they use items such as postmen, telephones, and the Internet to do it for them. Today, we will discuss mail. Muggles use mail offices, whose employees know where people live, and whose job it is to deliver these letters and packages. Muggles write their letters the same as wizards do, and then seal them, but they address the messages with their own address (street number, name, town, country, area code) in the top left corner in case the mail cannot be sent (in which case the letter will be returned to the sender, hence called a return address) and the middle of the envelope has the receiver’s address. All in all, the finished result should look like this:
Quote:
Catalina Constanza
123 Hogwarts Castle
Hogsmeade Village, Scotland 98765
Alejandro Constanza
4567 Villa Pequena
Granada, Andalucia 67453

Your assignment is to write a letter to a friend telling them the importance of the muggle mailing system. You should address them to the best of your ability, using their school house for even higher accuracy, because I will be finding your friend and giving them your letter. This is due by the end of class.

Sparrow heard that the professor was starting and she quickly got out some parchment just in case. When the lesson plan was told and put up Sparrow was surprised. Nothing of this sorts had been done before. it was a different teaching style with a different teacher, and Sparrow liked it. Sparrow thought to herself, 'Me gusta la professora' wondering if her Spanish was any good in her mind and she went to get some books and being her work.

Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Ghaleon came into the muggle studies class, seeing the new professor and then eying the assignment for second years. 'Wow, this teacher really isn't messing around.' he thought to himself, as he realized he already had to write an essay.

Catalina cleared her throat and addressed the new student as well as the girl who had introduced herself as "Blaine". "Students are not permitted to begin their assignments until they have sent me a preliminary owl," she commanded, gesturing towards the blackboard. "If you still attempt the assignment, you will not receive credit until I have your information."

- 2nd year

User ImageNathaniel squinted to see the blackboard. Maybe he'd need glasses soon. Although he felt at ease with the subject, he pondered. Which story ? He glanced around the class, spotting a fellow 2nd year. He met him before... "So what you're going to write about ?" he managed to whisper. Nathaniel's hand was already starting to write, digging in the memories. He should stop by at the Library to get some wizard children's book for the essay.

Sparrow had been working extremely hard on her report when she finally finished. She knew very little of the Greeks and only a little of the Romans. She found the Romans more interesting and that was the strong part of her essay. She wondered if it was good enough and she read over it making a couple changes before she was content and stood up to go hand it in to Professor Costanza. She made her way up to her and said, "Here you are Professor." She handed it over hoping to get a wonderful grade.

Sparrow's Assignment on the affects of Rome and Greece on modern government

The Greeks and Romans had numerous governments that may have contributed to the muggle and wizarding government of the present. The Romans had a very unique Republic for their time. Even though it took a long time to develop fully and with lots of struggle of powers, they managed to create a system that is much like what is used today. The Romans basically had branches of government even if they did not call them that. Their executive branch was made of two consuls. This is much like the president and vice president of some of the countries in the world. Also, there is a Minister in the magical government, but there is no second leader. The Romans also used a judicial branch of court. This is much like the courts set up around the world to enforce laws and decide punishment. There are various different sizes and types of courts. This is also so in the magical world where wizards would be tried for offenses. Finally, there was a legislative branch of the Senate and Tribunes. This is much like the House of Representatives and Senate of the world. They mainly make the laws. Also, the different departments are like this in the magical world. They make decisions on their department. The Romans greatly influenced government of the muggle and magical world, but so did the Greeks.

The Greeks also had a marvelous government that impacted the formation of government. The Greeks had the first democratic government in Athens. This has affected numerous countries in the world which have elected to use a democratic form of government and elect most of their officials. In the wizarding world, the Minister of Magic is also an elected figure. The Greek have influenced the formation of muggle and wizarding governments today. Both of these civilizations have made an impact on the world that has made it what it is today.

((Okay sorry about this poor work lol first paragraph I had a lot of time then ran out of ideas for Greece hehe knew more about Rome since I happened to have done a report on it recently…. And I’m not familiar with other world govs so I kinda compared it to America hehehe HOPE I DID IT RIGHT!!!))

Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Ghaleon looked over at Nathan, after he herd his fellow second year speak to him. He shut his arms up in a shrug. "I've honestly never read a muggle children's book before." He wasn't even certain what would qualify as a children's book by muggle standerds to be honest. What exactly did the professor consider a child's book for that matter? Younger than a hogwarts student's age? Or something in a second year's age group?

Ghaleon raised his hand "Um? Professor, just what exactly do you consider to be a children's book? If you could give an example or two of what we're supposed to be looking for it would be a rather large help to me."

Catalina examined Sparrow's completed work with a look of confusion on her face. "You are a third year, verdad? You should have completed your assignment over photosynthesis. You still have time to make the necessary corrections."

Turning her raven head to Ghaleon, she purred, "Senor Elmerast, I would like you to find a story that parents read to children who cannot do it themselves. Some good muggle examples would be anything penned by Doctor Suess or Beatrix Potter."

(EDIT: Just a regular kids' book with more pictures than words. Nothing too complex.)
