"Here," Malodore said, holding the note out to Riley. "I believe, given the references to October, that it was written by a native of Halloween Town... and, given the paper's apparent age, that it was not written by a student on this trip."
It glanced up at the figure above once more. Perhaps it had written the note?

Quite frankly, Jericho was torn on whether he wanted to enter or stick around to wait for more people to join them. On one end, getting inside would likely get them further from the fog and further along on their journey to... wherever that was. Where the Jack were they trying to go again? Aside from to this lighthouse that is.
Shaking his head, he turned to see that Charlie had awaken. At first, he thought Mac was around due to his words but... he didn't see the reaper anywhere around. Then, he realized Charlie thought that Sheridan was .. Mac.
Really?
Charlie was certain.. a special one if that was the case.
Deciding to avert his attention, he looked back towards Mal and Riley, waiting to see what she thought of the slip of paper.
"There's probably more warnings from this 'previous' group around.."

Mac was straggling behind the group, ignoring the complaints from the Demoness on his back. He was pretty sure that she would pass out the moment he put her down, since she had passed out so quickly after getting back to the group itself. Of course, he was also suspecting her of having narcolepsy because she had pink hair - and Charlie had pink hair, and they'd both passed out, so...narcolepsy attacked people with pink hair.
It made sense.
Of course it did.
He heard Charlie yell something about someone else not being him, and black eyes rolled again. Seriously, Charlie, seriously?
"Charlie, you idiot, I'm back here." He grumped to his friend, sighing and shifting Lizzy on his back again, still quite thoroughly ignoring any protest she made, and Approached the Lighthouse.

Most of what happened next escaped her, but she did manage to summon enough energy to raise her hand and bop Mac on the head for ignoring her. She was still grateful he hadn't left her behind though. Honest! To show that appreciation, she patted him lamely on the shoulder since she was technically already hugging him from the back. Hearing Jericho say something about a warning, she frowned.
"Warning? What warning...?" Her voice was soft, but hopefully loud enough to be heard, "Previous group?" Another pause followed as she buried her face into Mac's shoulder, "Bit more, sorry...Mac..." Hiding her face was good; she was sure she was blushing.
'Now you're just being a burden.'
Sadly, she didn't have anything to say to that. Hearing Charlie's voice, however, she looked up again, squinting, trying to spot the demon, "Charlie's safe? Yay!"

Riley snatched the note and held it out, reading it even as she digested what Malodore was saying. If the note was from a resident of Halloweentown, but it was old.. then where was the previous resident now?
Her eyes drifted slowly up to the hooded figure in front of them, and narrowed to slits.
A fate worse than death, he'd said.
She folded the note carefully, and spoke - but her eyes never left the figure in front of her.
I think it's become far more imperative than ever to find a way off this island. She murmured very quietly. Before we truly find out firsthand what the fate of our predecessors really was. I'm not spending the rest of my life, or unlife, stranded here. She tried desperately to peer into the hood of the robed figure.

"If these folk are truly from Halloween Town, then... maybe they are why we were sent here?" Malodore's gaze narrowed as it looked up at the figure. That made little sense, but it made slightly - slightly - more sense than any of its other theories as to why the Amityville faculty had brought them here. "Evidently our kind have been here before. There must be a reason, given that this evidently is neither Halloween nor the domain of any other holiday..."

As the lighthouse swirled into clear definition Mandy paused for a moment, taking in the fact they'd made it. It wasn't home yet but it felt like a victory nether the less, despite it's attempts the fog had not stopped them.
Nor the figures. As she thought this her eyes trained on the one standing silently above them.
She never had gotten any of her questions answered.
And she wouldn't if she just stood here staring. With that thought she moved closer to the lighthouse, meeting up once again with the group.

Waving to Mac and Lizzy as they came into view, Jericho turned back to the others as the note was discussed.
"Who knows.. maybe these Reapers we faced used to be from Halloween. Though that doesn't really explain why or how they can all drain our FEAR..." he murmured, "Or how they managed to survive with the lack of FEAR in this area."
Perhaps that was what was so maddening about this whole place.
"But I agree. I don't want to be around here for too long.. I enjoy being sane."

And there it was; the tall structure loomed above her, becoming more clear as she walked slowly, still listening for Sepheran as she went.
As she joined the group she looked for Elizabeth hoping her friend wouldn't judge her for following and not staying. She'd wanted to, she really had but her nerves had failed her. What could she do? If she went out into the fog again she might be lost forever.
So it was with downcast eyes that she approached the lighthouse, joining the group as they were discussing a note that one of them had evidently found nearby.

((HP: 25 Approaching the lighthouse! ))
Somehow, even though she had been through so much, Astra had somehow made it to the edge of the lighthouse. She was tired, mentally exhausted, but but not physcialy harmed. Even if those flames had felt so real...As for her staff? she was still unsure. But for now...she woukd just have t deal with it.
Sniffling a little, she gazed up at the tall structure and was quick to noticed a hooded figure on the top. She froze, afraid he was about to leap down and attack her, but he did not. Why was he not doing so?
Cautiously, she approached the lighthouse, also spotting the other students as well. But there was no relief to be had at seeing them though.
Didn't they just abandon you? None of them bothered to come looking for you..including petro
She found it hard to disagree with him this time.
Oh! look! there's your friend!
Astra looked around the group again, and then froze in pure terror at seeing the dragon boil there. Again. Seriously, why did he always have to pop up? She felt herself to scared to move.
i wouldn't stand there if I were you...
Suddenly, a giant roar resounded through her head, and she screamed, already feeling the intense heat behind her. Without thinking she ran forwards towards the students, and jumped at the first person who was there. Riley
"Help me, help mee!" she cried out, eyes tearing up again as she tried her best to hide. "It burns it burns!"

Draven walked towards the lighthouse and the forming group of students, not quite sure if he should be happy. He hadn't seen anyone else in so long, it was almost too much to hope for now. He almost failed to notice the lighthouse anymore, much less the figure looking down on them.
He noticed a couple of students recognized from his boat...Lizzy and Charlie, he seemed to remember their names were. That seemed so long ago now. It sounded like the group was discussing something. Yep, that had to mean they were real. The voices in the fog had never made sense. In fact, one student seemed to be having an outburst. Very unlike the voices in the fog.
"Please tell me you guys are real," he sighed as he reached the group.

If these folk were from Halloween Town.. Malodore's words echoed in her head. Pieces of the puzzle floated and spinned in her mind, refusing to come together as one. Mac's vision. The voices. Her encounter with the reaper. A hallucinatory fog, trying to keep them down.
Trying to keep them.. away?
She barely heard the mumble of several voices behind her as the rest of the students began to congregate around them, and she was just about to take another look at the note when a small body barrelled itself into her. She turned, wrapping one arm quickly around Astra and flipping her upside down without hesitation. She didn't know who it was, her reaction was instinct!
..Astra? Riley twirled the ghoul gently, holding her in a one armed cradle at her chest. Her other hand reached up and brushed her hair down, trying to calm the riled up fairy.
Shh, it's okay. You're safe. You're not burning. We've got you. You're safe now. Her words were laced heavily with comforting waves, meant to tranquil the little soul.

"Ow! Brute." Mac grumbled at the Demoness who insisted on beating him up, as weak and pathetic as it was. In retaliation he pinched her leg, the only part of her that he could easily reach at the moment, and took a look at his surroundings while giving a brief nod to Jericho's wave. Interesting, interesting; that cloaked figure was watching them, that was probably a bad thing...but there was distance between them now, so it was alright he supposed. Then, of course, there was that note; he never actually got to read it himself, as that ever-bossy Purple thing folded it up before he could.
Well, that wouldn't do.
"It's fine." He said quickly to Lizzy, brushing off her apologies to focus on something more important; namely that Demoness named Riley, and that note she was hoarding.
"Well that's well and good, but are you going to actually read it to the rest of the class, or are you just going to keep it to yourself?" A hint of snark to his voice maybe, but he was tired of this trip and what was more, his arms were busy with their quest to not drop Lizzy.
Then, he heard the screaming and instinctively jumped out of the way, avoiding the much smaller ghoul. "what burns?" He couldn't resist asking.

More and more students were filing into the area outside of the lighthouse. One particularly small girl caught his attention as she had practically thrown herself at Riley while freaking out. Not knowing anything of what she had gone through, his eyes naturally narrowed at the sight of the faerie. He had to fight the urge to say something to taunt her like 'you're not burning but I can easily change that'. The temptation was a strong one for sure. A very. Very. Strong urge. Everyone seemed to be drawing together now. Malodore surveyed the newcomers, then raised its voice to address the group. "Is everyone doing reasonably well? No physical injuries?" It glanced at the small figure in Riley's grasp who was babbling about burning, though it couldn't' see any such damage on her. At least not from this angle.
