The mare looked confused, and felt a little distraught. If he was telling the truth, then that would mean her care taker would be wrong. Her brow furrowed together, but how would that reflect everything her caretaker told her? The mare just did not know anymore.
Nolens Volens focused on his next question, not quite ready to answer his previous question or even fathom a response. She didn't to want to feel hopeful, or even consider it as a truth. Her eyes turned to the closest flower. "I-I do." She answered briefly, not wanting to complain about it, The mare took in a deep breathe before trying to relax herself from the feeling of stress.

Jiibay looked at her with a bit of pity as she seemed as if she was confused by everything he had said as if he insulted her own learning, whatever it was not even his own father spoke such words to him. It was true that his father was disappointed in him, maybe disappointed was far to kind of a word to use however he was never told he was nothing and at this point in his own life even his father had he wouldn't listened to his words. Maybe he was more like his father than he thought in his narcissistic behavior. Looking at the red flower she turned her attention to instead of facing him it reminded him more of a silent face waiting to be plucked, "why not pick some for yourself then?" He asked this time his voice in a way soother than before.

The mare considered the question. Her eyes had been on the stallion behind her when he spoke to her before she turned to look at the red surprise lily before her, but could she just pick it for herself? “It would be a waste.” She said simply. The flower would be nice, but she would not get to enjoy it. If she took one for herself, then she would not be able to even keep it when she returns to her caretaker. Her caretaker would find it suspicious if she came back with flowers and reserved one for herself. No, that would not be good for her. The mare shook her head. “N-no. The flower is better here than with me.”

Jiibay snorted he could feel this small tingling need of being friendly and nice and he knew as soon as he open his own mouth he would regret ever saying it. "Then just leave it there but if you want to visit it you will have to come before the season changes, flowers aren't permanent no matter if you leave or take them . It's a waste for them to grow and for others not to at least enjoy it no matter how short that you can keep it." He however made no promise that it would be there when she returned even if she did, most didn't return but that was their own decision.

Considering his words, the mare thought about it. She could theoretically come back to the flowers, instead of taking them with her. A light smile appeared on her face at that prospect. “You’re really smart, y-you know that?” She said softly, glancing at the stallion before returning to the task before her. She still needed to collect flowers for her caretaker. The mare practiced curling her tail and flexing her muscles there to tighten enough for her to grasp things. The mare continued forward, looking for more red surprise lilies to collect to bring back home. She was unsure really what to say to the stallion. She lacked the social skills, and could not fathom what he would want to talk about. She was more likely to stand and listen one to talk than to even voice herself.

This was the first time anyone had bothered to smile around him or even give him a compliment for something that he had said, well that was if you didn't include his own family not that compliments came often. "I believe you would be the only one to say that," he replied looking around to see if he could spot anymore of the familiar red like flowers that she still seemed to pick for whoever she called of a caretaker. Much like herself Jiibay lacked any conversation usually conversations didn't last it would be a few exchange of words before someone would take off or feel the need to flee. HIs only other conversations were with his family and to say the least they were not as pleasant not that he minded. He was however amused as she tried to flex the muscles in her tail, his tail was rather long and silky black it was not adapted to picking up or holding.

Continuing to listen to his words, the mare looked a little confused. “W-why would I be the only one?” She asked, really not sure why anyone else would consider otherwise. Her soft voice tried to inquire why the stallion would say that either. The mare quieted down, not wanting to pry too much.
While she was focusing on flexing her tail, the mare did not realize the stallion was watching her actions. She took a moment to stop; her eyes shyly glanced to the stallion behind her to see an amused look on his face. The mare slowly turned her face away from the stallion, curling her head down in embarrassment with her hair falling over her face to hide her embarrassment. She continued forward, leaving her tail to unfurl. Her eyes would flicker up from time to time in search for the bright red flowers that can easily stand out in the dark environment.

"Because most soquili don't stick around to talk when they look at me," he replied with an edge to his voice of annoyance it was easy to judge someone quickly by their appearance but he got used to it. If they wanted a beast then let him play the role he always thought, however he had yet the reason to treat the mare so forth. Though it was still dark and the land was in shadow he doubted that it would take long for her to treat him any differently just like it did for any other soquili. He watched as she looked at him and then hid her face behind her hair and continued to look at the flowers, however he took it not as her being shy but more or less her fear of his own appearance. Clamping his jaw tight as if to grind his own teeth he looked around the ground his eyes shining a light glow of light, "how many do you need?" He replied his voice more gruff than before, the quicker she found the flowers the quicker she would leave.

Nolens Volens did not know what to say to that. She can sense a change in his voice, and continued to keep her head down. She did not intend to upset the male behind her. Her ears flicked back, deciding it was better to keep her thoughts to herself instead of prying further. She did not want to upset him further and get on his bad side.
Hearing his question, the mare shook her head. “It’s okay. You don’t need to help. I wouldn’t want to be a burden to you.” She said quietly, making her way into the underbrush to try to disappear from sight.

The lack of reply to his comment left him more annoyed than before however this time at himself than the mare. It made him feel in a way stupid or prideful to have such a unfriendly attitude, and more so even more of a beast than what he wanted to be. Jiibay paused as she went into the underbrush half of his mind told him to along and to help her the other half told him to just leave her. Shaking his head he pushed down the urge to be annoyed again. "If I thought it was a burden I wouldn't have asked to help you in the first place," he replied after following around the underbrush. He did however kept his distance from her not wanting to be any closer than she or he wanted him to be.

The mare heard the noise of the underbrush shuffling behind her. It seemed like the stallion was annoyed, so why did he persist in following her? The mare stopped again to turn and look at the stallion behind her. Her eyes held a look a confused and sad look as she looked up to the stallion. His appearance did not seem to faze her too much from what she could see. Her aqua blue eyes meeting his luminous amber eyes, and suddenly felt a feeling of shyness and hesitance meeting his eyes. “You seem upset, so I d-don’t want to be a burden. Am I upsetting you?” She asked in a soft voice, her gaze trained on the ground beneath them with her ears flicked back. “I’m sorry if I am.”

Her expression in a way bothered him, it wasn't in awe or in fright but more or less sad in which was something he rarely encountered from anyone. He felt as if more or less it was his own fault because of his own pride and stupidity that he was rash with her and yet she still remained unmoved by his features despite still looking at him. "You are not a burden and nor are you upsetting me you shouldn't have to say sorry for my own actions, I am the one responsible for making your feel that way, I am sorry." He replied watching as she looked back down at the ground, "you don't have to look at the ground you know when you talk. I would rather see your face and eyes than you feeling ashamed."

Hearing his response, the mare looked up at him in surprise. “But, I feel like I s-should be part of the blame too.” She said, shaking her head, not wanting the stallion to take on the full blame. It did not sit right with her. She had a feeling she had to do something with his annoyance.
The mare tried to do what he requested. Her eyes turned up to look at him, and fought herself to look back down at the ground. “It does not feel right to look at your straight in the eyes.” She said quietly. “I’ve always been told to never look someone else in the eyes.” She continued. The mare remember being told that it could be taken as a challenge by anyone who was more ‘superior’, so she should always look down on the ground.

"You didn't do anything wrong, you merely asked it was my own fault for getting hostile on the question," he replied with a small shake of his head as if to reassure her not to worry he tried to give her a bit of a smile but he felt stupid. A smile on his face never seemed to suit him very well instead it just made him feel stupid. Who on earth would tell anyone not to look someone in the eye? What annoyance this caretaker was telling her such lies? He gave a bit of a snort in annoyance of the thought. "You should always look someone in the if you are talking to them especially if you are apologizing," he replied as she tried to sound as pleasant as he could, "its polite to, even if it does feel wrong at first you should keep trying."

Nolens Volens looked up to him with her aqua blue eyes and felt unease with the answer. “Oh, okay.” The mare was not used to not taking the blame, but did not want to argue either. The mare felt a little bit more at ease now that she can tell the annoyance tension in the air was gone.
Her brows furrowed together. “I s-suppose.” She said quietly. “I’ll try to do so.” She said with a slight nod to her head.
