Calder had gone far. While injured and not genius smart, he managed to wind up with his friends in the end. Through the fog that nearly tore him apart and thinking he was alone, he had stuck close to his friends upon rediscovering them and feeling stronger with them than ever. When the code was used and portal charged, they had walked through with the highest hope that they were saved, had suffered the worst, and in the end, deserved a much needed break. They had been tested, and they had passed.

Or so it had been felt.

The harsh reality was that the game wasn’t over, and stepping into the darkness, they had only the smallest second to prepare themselves before it was too late. Screams and the sound of slashing metal whizzed by and Calder, already bruised, bleeding, and running low on energy, turned in time to see where his friends were and if they could dash out of the way.

But it was far too late for him.

At first, he hadn’t even though he was hurt, but then he felt horrible, searing pain. Over the sound of metal and other screams of every creature in Halloweentown, all young, all torn in disbelief that this was the end, the sound of a high horse cry wailed above, echoing down the chamber.

He stepped forward, and felt the seams of where he was cut. Like a tipped over tower, he fell down, and separated in segmented chunks, toppling to the ground. For a undead, falling to pieces wasn’t anything new, but Calder was a live monster. He had never lost a limb or so much as broken a finger. When he fell, surrounded by the dark and watching as shapes moved, even tripped and stomped over him in their haste to escape, he let out a pained cry, much smaller, much quieter than before.

It was because he saw Christof beside him. He’d seen him before, in pieces, and thought that maybe, just maybe, he could pick himself together and make it. But Malodore and no one else was here to sew the boil together again and certainly now when the dark blades were flying about. Head unattached, it tilted as if the young boil was just resting his cheek on the ground in a thoughtful way. Heart hammering somewhere, he looked out across to his fallen friend and smiled sadly, fear and other matter leaking from his clear cut wounds before he started to disintegrated. Dark partials rose and vanished like ashes. “Bye……friend.”

And with those last two words, the kelpie vanished on the spot, leaving nothing of the unfortunate student who tried his best and lost.

Making sure to thank all the pretty Goddesses she could, Belladonna stepped through the portal and into... Blackness. For a split second she saw the two up ahead, one boy and one very pretty girl with hair she vaguely wondered if she could braid. It was such an innocent thought that the witch didn't even have time to register the strange metal noises being made overhead.
And then the screaming started.
Students yelling to go, to run and not look, whatever you do don't look back. Others were yelling with something more... Something like... They were... They screaming in pain.
The darkness closed in a little tighter but she could still make out shapes. Shapes of others that were being sliced in two, cut through with blades.

"Ah--" The witch began, not sure if she was calling out to Alessa or to scream. Her feet shuffled automatically on their own, two steps forward as a blade came slicing down behind her, surely chopping off a few stray hairs. "Da-da-daaiiii?" Her mouth was just making sounds now, sounds for people that weren't even there. "C-carry? Whisp-er?" It was hard to speak as she watched the others fall, her mind not processing everything but also showing her everything in sharp detail. Legs moved of their own accord and she kept going forward, slowly... But... There was too much. Her mind couldn't keep up and a wall was going up as she fell inside herself... What was happening? Were they... Were they supposed to die like that?

Clacking heels alerted what left of her senses that the noise was her and that it should be moving faster. But she felt so tired... Her head hurt or was it all the emotion in this awful room that was seeping in? Get out...NOW. a voice instructed her and Belladonna couldn't be sure who it was, but she knew they were right and she tried to move forward faster...

The first thing to strike Carthusia was how damned dark it was. It was black as pitch, but one thing struck her in the face so fiercely that she nearly fell to her knees - metal. It was a thick, pungent smell, and as soon as Carry found a wall to lean on, she felt how slick and wet it was. Lifting a hand to her nose, she head two familiar voices calling out, screaming for them to move. They had to move. But what was on the walls? Carry was sluggish as first, jumping in every direction like a frightened cat when she heard the unmistakeable sound of unsheathed metal. Oh god.

The smell was now identified in her mind as well as her nose. This wasn't salty air, no. This wasn't water on the walls. This was supposed to be a cove, right? It was, she was sure it was but water did not cover the walls. No, to Pride's horror...

...it was blood.

Belladonna had been right in front of her. Nothing fired in her brain except pure demonic instinct. Survive. You have to RUN. Those figures, yes, they knew what they were doing. This corridor was so tiny and there was so much bloodshed, horror and death. She couldn't stay here, no. Belladonna was just up ahead. Without thinking, Pride grabbed hold of the witch by her waist and dragged her, running as fast as her exhausted legs would carry her. Pride saw them fall, or saw their remains, one by one. Riley, Malodore...oh god CALDER. Tears streamed down the demoness' face as she let loose a scream. It was a scream for all that had fallen and all that had yet to fall - it was for meetings she'd never had with them, for classes they'd never attended together. It was for time spent and lost, for time never gained in the first place. It was for students she'd never been able to hug or laugh with or share stories with, for students she'd known forever and never known.

Was this all her fault? Her brain didn't allow her to process anything aside from RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN, and run she did. FEAR pounded her in the face as she ducked and weaved through blade after blade, through fallen students' remains as they fell before and behind her. Jack, how many would make it out of this death march? Where were the faculty? Would she see everyone again? Would she see anyone again? The redhead no doubt was in pain too. A choke escaped Carry as her eyes refused to look back. She couldn't look back, no, it would be too much.

"Bella? We'll be okay. We'll be okay. Just... j-j-just run. Keep running. We have to keep running!"

She stepped through the portal, following her group, and the sight she saw on the other side almost broke her. It wasn't pleasant. There were no professor's or the deceased miraculously re-appearing. There was only death. Left and right they were dying. So many...she felt like she was going to lose herself. She was frozen inside. It was like something cracked, no, it was more like it shattered inside of her. She couldn't fathom that she may never see any of these people again. None of the other dead had returned, could they really be gone forever?

Whisper's eyes went blank and tears began to flow, uncontrolled and inconsolable. She began to shake and whimper. "Why...why...this was supposed to be fun. This..this was..."

She could barely stand, hell she didn't want to. Whisper used all of her energy to get to Belladonna, to whom she clung to desperately. "Please...don't go too...I couldn't bare to see it."

She buried her face into the ghoul's shoulder. "I couldn't protect them BD. I couldn't save any of them. I need to protect you, and Tybalt. You guys are the only friends I have here...I can't lose you guys."

One more step with the portal and onto the other ********> Tomoko immediately recoiled on the other side of the portal, grabbing for Junko's hand and making a yelping noise in surprise of what waited on the other side, her tails creeping between her legs. Oh man, oh man, oh man.

"nothing...gonna break my stride, nobody's gonna slow me down...I got to keep moving..." Tomoko mumbled to herself, puffing her chest out to put on her best brave face (which had been learned from Jove), while she walked along, pausing now and then to look to other students, pondering if she'd be wise to grab onto another person to keep them moving along as well.

Tomoko couldn't be slow in this area. She had a feeling. Something akin to having walked in to a horrible Indiana Jones finale. Well, almost-finale. Until they made more. With Aliens. Alkfas;dfhadkfjasdf. Either way, Tomoko did her best to keep her hyperventilating to a minimum.

Keep walking, keep walking....

Christof held his breath, shakily stepping forward out of the swirl of the portal. It was odd, a strange sensation like he often had when he fell to pieces but while remaining whole. It was fascinating and he would have turned to examine the mechanics of the portal closer had he not gotten a glimpse of purple and red as the world came back into focus...

Mistress.... His Mistress was here! And Master Malodore too! And... that dragon boil- his stomach clenched, but all the same he immediately strode forward. It only took a step before the blades came crashing down. She hadn't even had time to turn, to see him there with her, having worked so hard to find her again before all three succumbed to snapping blades and suddenly the world was spinning as his de-stitched head popped free, rolling across the ground.

What... what had... the rolling came to a stop, the world flickering at the edges of his vision as he saw his own body skewered, hanging by threads that slowly dissolved into it's basic particles like dust blowing in the wind. No... no... it couldn't end like this... he strained, working his jaw to push his head, trying desperately to look for anyone else, someone to rip his remaining parts from that horrible blade that seemed to be tearing him apart by the very Fear that held him together... but no... no... no no no, white hair stained by blood, dissolving as well- Calder! Sure, the kelpie was annoying and dumb and stubborn but he didn't- no one deserved-

His vision was swimming in and out of focus, and he could feel the severed end of his head where it met his neck begin to crumble under him, the remaining skull rolling again as his jaw slowly vanished and pointed black boots came into view... Barth. The Sloth demon was still alive... he had done it, Mistress... just... just as he promised... he kept Master Barth alive... somehow... he managed a distant whine, brows furrowed as his eyes rolled up to meet his living Master's face in an apologetic expression. He couldn't help him anymore... He'd need a new Igor now... no breath was coming, he couldn't feel his other parts, they were already gone, gone to dust and... and his head was foggy and his vision dimming...

He was sorry, Master.

He was coming, Mistress...

When Petro stepped through the portal, he thought he had prepared himself for the worst. In some way, perhaps he had. While his new surroundings were cramped and dark, it was nothing more than a minor inconvenience. Elbows were digging into his sides, someone's hair would whip into his face, limbs and hands and the blunt edges of weapons dug and shoved and jostled. It almost reminded him of home during pistahan.

Almost.

Because something was severely wrong. He didn't know why and couldn't tell you if you asked, but he threw himself back, uncaring of anyone he might have hit or rammed against. His muscles were reacting faster than his brain could process the orders from Famine and Conquest. Or the situation the unfolded before him.

Death. Pain. Agony.

Blood sprayed, bones broke, flesh was torn, bodies were halved, screams were silenced as abruptly as they began. Students were reduced to pieces of meat, chunks of skin, scattered organs. And Petro hadn't been able to do anything to save them. Riley, Malodore, Jericho, Mac. A wave of anger and hate crashed over Petro, so pure in its intensity it nearly brought the tikbalang to his knees.

Nearly.

Somehow, hearing Aksaja, Petro managed to keep his footing as he himself let loose a howl in honor of his fallen comrades,
"VOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!"

Whether or not he managed to properly mimic the red dragon's roar was unimportant. Petro pushed on after Famine and Conquest, fresh tears streaming down his cheeks, his face red and set in a grimace. He had to keep going, had to find whoever was responsible for all this. The blood-debt had gotten to big.

It was time to collect and collect Petro will. Or die trying.

After stepping through the portal, Raziel was shoved up against many other students, he pushed back a little bit just to get some space, but it was almost futile. All of the sudden there were screams, loud cracks and the sound of metal unsheathing itself.

Then nothing.

A whole lot of nothing.

Everything seemed to just disappear and Raziel was gone.

Sin had never been so confused in her entire life, one moment she was running through the portal then she was standing in darkness. Someone yelled to move, her friends and fellow students were all around her. Move? Move where? What was happening? who was talking? Then from the ceiling came the blades, so fast, too fast. Sin's eyes widened as students vanished before her eyes, impaled, taken so quickly. Riley! Malodore! Christof! More and more...and Sin just stood there inches away from a blade yet spared. It was cruel, so cruel, survivors guilt was setting in on her. Tears filled her eyes and then THEY appeared. Damn them...they were always hurting or too late to help.

Still she was afraid and they were the only semblance, the only chance of escape from this place. She ran after Famine and followed her as if her life depended on it which at this point it might. She hated her, she hated reapers, she hated this island, she wanted to go home. Sin missed Rosc, her friends, her mother, she missed classes...even boring Botany.

The tunnel seemed to go on forever in no discernible direction. The only vague light source were flickers of iridescent etched runes jutting out from the cavern, as well as the natural glow of any occasional student source. Only the irregular tapping of footsteps ahead of them assured the students that Conquest and Famine were indeed, still moving forward.

Until of course, the next second, when all footsteps stopped, suddenly replaced by furiously obvious whispering.

"I SEE HIM." Came the first whisper, female, Famine.

"Yes, good for you." Conquest.

"Let's use the students as bait, please please, oh please?"

"...."

"Okay I'm going to do it!" The last phrase was a not-so-whisper.

Suddenly, just a few feet in front of the students something glowed, a pendant, painfully bright. As their eyes adjusted, they could clearly see Famine dangling the object from one hand, pendant pulsating with its own life, illuminating the room. The horse(wo)man swung the pendant in front of her, showing a dead end not even twenty feet beyond them, and then what looked like a very makeshift cellar cage. A heap of something or someone was lying unconscious deep within it, figure barely visible.

"He's here!" Famine chattered excitedly, hopping from one foot to the other, as the pendant began to hum wildly. "Find the key! Find it, find it, find it!"

Upon the students' blank looks, the demon gave them an angry scowl. "Pendants, pendants battery... FEAR? Locate key?" I was as big as a hint as they were ever going to get out of her.

((OOC:

- If a student does indeed take their pendant out, follow Famine's hints and try focusing your Fear into the pendant. Or even just being really angry and letting out your Fear while holding the pendant
- The pendant will GLOW if focused with any Fear, at this moment, it seems to hum if it is close to the key.
- Roll a 20-sided dice. 20 is the location of the key, the closer to are to the key, the louder the pendant will hum. If you roll a 20, you can pick up the key buried somewhere in this area, otherwise, continue rping and rolling, multiple posts are allowed for key searching
- IF YOU HAVE NOT POSTED the intial trap post yet, you will still need to do it before proceeding to this part or we will GM in your instant death post. ))

By the time West stepped through the portal, the ground beneath him was carpeted with gore. He couldn't see it, he couldn't see much of anything besides darkness and red, but he could smell spilled blood and he guessed from the lingering shrieks and cries that the squishy, slippery chunks between his feet were the bodies of his classmates, but he wasn't entirely sure. He heard the whoosh of a large blade, felt the breeze that resulted from its passing and the vibration as it sank into the ground, but still he remained untouched. A grin stretched the demon's lips as he moved further into the darkened cavern. s**t was going down. He was going to tear it down.

Sin's pendant hung from a long silver chain right above her waist, she frowned down at it and then looked at Famine. "What?" Wasn't this thing supposed to be protection? Now she was being told to use it to find somekind of key? Fine...whatever, she held it in her hands and tried to push fear into it...but she was tired. Slowly the pendant began to glow, at first very faint, but then stronger and stronger. Sin was feeling a bit woozy but she could feel a fair thrumming. She tried to follow it, tried looking around and holding up the pendant to locate the key. If it was the key to get out she would be VERY happy...if not...well she had gotten used to being disappointed during this trip.

He squinted his eyes when Famine's blasted pendant began to glow, peering at the cage and the dead end with confusion. The fact that he was still sort of grinning made his expression less than the brainiest, but he didn't have a mirror, nor did he give a ********. Hey, a pendant, West thought. I have one of those. He rummaged in his bag, raising his own fine piece of jewelry in the air and waving it around. No glow? No glow. FEAR? FEAR.

West reluctantly channeled some of his FEAR into the thing like he had into the cauldron in minipet class. The pendant began to glow, but nothing else seemed to happen.

The sights that greeted the siren were not good ones. They were the things of his nightmares. Dreams of death made real. Riley, Malodore, Jeicho, Calder, gone. His protectors, his idols, his mentors, his friends. Gone, killed. Their FEAR slipping away as they fell to the blades. Christof, the patchwork who he'd watched, fascinated with his smarts in attempts at solving a puzzle. Cut clean. fading. They were all fading. DEAD.

Screeching, The Siren ran, desprate to escape this place. This place of terror and death.
