“Hmm, I don’t think my angel half in good at any specific types of magic, but I haven’t really researched him much. I’ve researched my demon half though! He is good with magic in general. I have never really tried to do any magic, so I don’t know if I am as well, but I know he can detect magic and that sometimes I can sense when there is magic about. Um, I don’t know how well you will hear this, but I don’t want to say it loudly,” Áróra explained, trailing off towards the end. She then looked side to side and leaned in close to Ciúin, to whisper, “I am pretty sure I sense daddy using magic sometimes. He never talks about it and I don’t know what sort, but I’ve seen him walk through a door that leads to nothing but a wall.” Moving back to a more comfortable distance, she added, “If you ask me, though, just cause one half of you is good with fire and the other half of you is good with water, shouldn’t mean you have to learn those. You should learn whatever type you want! It might be harder, but if it’s what you want to do, then it would be worth it!” With a giggle, she exclaimed, “You aren’t your demon half or your angel half; you are Ciúin!”
A wide smile spread across Áróra’s face as she saw his reaction to her offer. “Of course I will!” she replied before listening to the description. “Hmm, so very deep watery sounding voice? It’s powerful and strong. Maybe even able to command the water; definitely a guy,” she repeated before asking, “Um, I don’t know the labs well, but any spots you can remember hearing him from?”

"Oh?" Ciúin glanced over at her father when she mentioned him walking through a door that led nowhere. He didn't want Vilyum to get the impression that they were talking about him, he though they did briefly, so he simply left it at a glance and nothing more. "If it is magic, why hide it from you?" Ciúin's question trailed off, however, as she continued to speak.
Ciúin genuinely smiled at Áróra's comment of him being himself, rather than a sum of 2 halves. It made him feel quite a bit better about himself and it was really rather nice of her to say. As time went by, he was really enjoying her company.
He began to think back, when was the last time he'd even heard the Voice? It had to be when he was still at the labs, waiting to be adopted. He closed his eyes, trying to remember back then. He remembered his incubation tube, where he'd been surrounded by water the first several weeks of his life. He'd heard the voice then, but he didn't know where in the labs that was. With a sigh, Ciúin opened his bi-colored eyes and looked at his friend. "I do not know. I was in a tube filled with water when I heard the Voice, but I do not know where in the labs it was." His smile vanished again. Perhaps his mission was hopeless.

“Well,” Áróra started as she lightly bit her lip, “It’s kind of hard to explain, its not so much that he is hiding it, he just doesn’t talk about it.” She didn’t know if she was explaining it well, in fact, she wasn’t even sure if she fully understood what she was saying. “He hasn’t, um, told me not to ask about it or anything, it just seems like something I shouldn’t ask about,” she continued, nearing full ramble mode, “some of the stuff he takes with him through it, it just, it feels wrong, like bad. After he takes it through though, I can’t sense it anymore, like he is hiding it or breaking it, and I don’t sense the bad on him…so he must be trying to get rid of the bad, right? Does that make sense?” She still wasn’t quite sure if she was explaining it right, it was more of a feeling, not something based on solid facts, but regardless of the things he brought home or how little he talked about them or his abilties, she knew he wasn’t a bad man.
Seeing the boy smile, made her smile as well. She really hope that she could help him, but she worried that she wouldn’t be able to roam too freely. She had never caused any problems while she had lived at the facility, but they always kept a watchful eye on her, like they were worried what she might do if let to her own devices. When she was younger, she often times wondered why many of the employees were so distant with her, but always watching. Once she was old enough to understand her genetics, however, she realized it was because they feared what her demonic half might do. There was a good chance they would treat her the same, upon her return, and she wouldn’t have a chance to roam and search. That was one reason, actually, why she trusted Vilyum so much, he fully understood what she was, but he never held it against her.
“Well,” she replied, “I don’t know how much I will be allowed to wander the facility, but I will do my best and keep my ears open. If I found out anything, I will let you know. And well, if I don’t find him this time, I will be back again for other classes, and I will keep listening! Also, you can go back for classes and keep trying to find the voice. We might not find him right away, but if first we don’t succeed, there is always next time!”

((So, I had this whole thing typed out, then my computer decided to erase it all. -_- So, here's try #2.))
"I think I understand," Ciúin nodded. After Áróra had finished her explanation, he sat motionless in the water for a good while, thinking over everything she'd said. "It sounds like he is trying to keep you safe from evil. That is very nice and very much something a parent would do, I think." Ciúin sank in the water a bit, so it came up to his eyes. He was trying to form his thoughts to make a little more sense, but as he was going over the information in his head, another thought popped into his mind. He pulled his head from the water, "So you can sense auras? That seems pretty handy."
Ciúin's tail bobbed lazily up and down in the water as he patiently listened to everything Áróra had to say. "Oh, yes, I do plan on having more classes there. But it should be easier to find the Perfect Voice if it is more than just me listening for it." A half smile showed for a second. "I am also supposed to be meeting my demon DNA donor, Torekane. He will be the first one I meet." He cocked his head to the side, looking at the floating little girl before him. "Have you met any of your donor parents?" He'd never met anyone quite so intriguing or that he got along with so well. So, he didn't see any harm in asking. How was he to know that she was such a unique and possibly dangerous spawn?

((Ack, that sucks >.< I hate when something I have written up is erased))
Áróra nodded, causing her to bob up and down in the water, and then answered, “Yes, I think that’s what it is; he gets rid of the evil things!” After a moment, she added with a giggle, “Still, I would like to see what’s behind that door that leads nowhere.” Closing her eyes, she pulled herself downward, through the water, to dunk her head, then popped up, like an air bubble suddenly released from the depths, just in time to catch Ciúin’s comment. “Well,” she began, “I guess it is similar, but not quite the same. Lot of people, if they can’t or don’t do magic, they don’t really show up. Also, it doesn’t really tell me anything about the person other then what type of magic they are strong with. I haven’t really seen it, but a bad person might be able to do good magic and a good person might be able to do bad magic and most magic is neither. I think, that if I could read an aura, it would tell me more about who the person is; sensing their magic just tells me what they can do. At least I think that's how it works, and there are sometimes, um, similarities, but still it would be wrong to always think they are the same, without getting to know the person first.”
“Do you have any classes picked out?” she asked as she gently rocked back and forth in the water. “I will be sure to look for The Perfect Voice when I visit the labs,” she proclaimed with a grin. “Really?” she replied, “You get to meet your demon half? That should be interesting! I haven’t met either of my donors. I might be able to meet my angelic half, though I haven’t researched him much. My angelic half is an angel of patience, his name is Pagiel! I probably won’t be able see my demonic half ever though. His name is Vaelaeli and he is a demon of revenge. That seems to be a rather rare type, I don’t really have any idea how they got his DNA since he doesn’t live at the labs. He is who I inherited my ability to sense magic from!” Suddenly she threw in, seemingly out of nowhere, “So, other then swim in the pool, what else do you like to do?”

For the first time, Ciúin realized that he'd not even thought about what classes he'd choose. The one class he'd had before was actually chosen by his mother, not him, even if it was definitely something handy to learn. " I do not know," he answered truthfully. His tail swished back and forth in the water, causing him to bob forward just a bit as he continued to think about what he was going to do. Looking up from his thought-filled expression, he shrugged. "I honestly had not given it thought. I am supposed to learn how to fight too, I think. But I am not much into fighting. That is my sister's domain. I do not think violence is the answer to any problem. That being said, I do not know if I can maybe learn something else."
Ciúin dunked his head completely under for a second, getting his hair wet again. "What else do I like to do? I do enjoy reading and listening to music. I like listening to rain too! My mother grows flowers and sometimes I help her with taking care of them, watering and planting. Other than that, I do no usually get out of the house much. What about you? What classes are you going to take and what do you like to do?"

Áróra had a weapons class picked out, but she had no idea what sort of magic she would learn. There were so many types out there to learn; they all seemed so interesting, but none seemed to call out to her yet. Maybe one day a type of magic would call out to her, until then though, she had no idea. “Well,” she began, “I know sort of weapons class I will be taking first, crossbows. I enjoy shooting at targets with my Nerf crossbow and it should be more accurate with a real one. In fact, daddy said he is going to help me make a special one to go with my strength! As far as magic, I don’t really know. There are so many things I could learn! It’s too hard to pick. As for other things, I don’t really know other then flying.”
After thinking about it for a moment, she answered his second question, “I like to do lots of things! I like to draw, help daddy in the workshop with his machines, like clocks and things with gears, I like to eat, to play video games, to listen to music, to read, to look at the stars; daddy has a telescope! I like to play hide and seek and board games; I’ve never gardened, it sounds fun though! I like flowers and rain!” A moment or two passed and she suddenly added, “Oh! I don’t like lutefisk. I’ve never had it, but I saw it on the TV. It was this weird fish jelly stuff. I like most food, but I don’t want to try it. Do you have any favorite foods?”

"I suppose I could try a flying class," Ciúin tossed a backwards glance at his golden wings that were trembling in the water. "I do not know if they are big or strong enough for my to be able to fly, though." He stood, motioning to his rather large physique. "I am rather big and bulky." He sank back down, more comfortable in the embrace of the water.
"Lutefisk?" Ciúin's face contorted into an awkward combination of curiosity, disgust, and confusion. Why would anyone jelly fish? He'd eat them raw if he ever got the chance, but that was besides the point. It seemed a little out-of-the-way to make fish into jelly. "I think I would have to try it, just once!" he quickly added. "I like all kinds of food. Fish is my favorite and I will eat it any way I can. But I have never had Lutefisk. It might be the one fish dish I do not like. It sounds very..." he tried to search for the right word, going through his vocabulary, "...interesting, I guess. I have read about sushi, which is a Japanese preparation of fish. Sometimes it it thinly cut pieces of fish on a ball of rice. They have a specific name for that type..." He trailed off, trying to remember what he'd read about it in one of his mother's cookbooks. "Sha... sa... Sashimi! That is what it is called!"

“Well,” Áróra exclaimed with a wide grin, “If you do decide to try and learn to fly, I wish you the best of luck!” Looking at his frame and wings, she nodded, “It might be a bit more difficult than normal, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try! Maybe you could start with like gliding, then work your way up! Also, since you are big, if you did learn to fly, you wouldn’t have to worry about getting knocked around by the wind as much!”
Even thinking about it and then hearing it being said back to her, made her cringe slightly, and her face tentacles curled up, as if by making them look smaller, she was a small target in the event of a Lutefisk invasion. “I like lots of foods, but I don’t want to try that. In the show I was watching, they take a perfectly good fish then let it sit around and dry out. Then they soak it in water that is full of, um, what was it? They use it in making soap; I remember that. Oh! It was soaked in lye, which the show said was poisonous. That makes the fish into a jelly and after soaking it for a few days; they drain it out then put a lot more water in there to rinse off the lye. They do that for a few days as well. It’s just, it’s just wrong!” After shaking her head for a moment, her eyes lit up, “I’ve tried sushi once! It was good. Daddy always brings home random food. I do like most fish, just not that one.”

"That is true," he remarked, thinking about the plus side to being big and flying. Planes didn't get knocked around much in the air... unless there was some REALLY strong winds.
Ciúin chuckled at first at the comical reaction of Áróra's tentacles, but as she described the process for making lutefisk, his smile turned into a disgusted grimace. "Why would you ruin fish like that?" He stuck out his blue tongue and made a retching noise. He'd read something about lye, but couldn't remember precisely what it was or how it was made, but he did remember the poison bit of it. "Maybe I would not try it then. It does not sound appetizing now that I know how it is made." He gulped in a mouthful of pool water and swished it around in his mouth, trying to get the imaginary taste out. Once satisfied the the taste of chlorine had cleaned away the thought of eating lutefisk, Ciúin spat the water out like a fountain, away from Áróra.

“Yeah, being really light like I am might make it easier to get off the ground, but if there was wind, it would probably knock me about real easily, at least until I get a lot of practice!” She actually had never thought about that before now, the thought worried her slightly. It wouldn’t deter her from taking the class and learning, but she would be extra careful if she suspected it might get windy.
“I don’t know why someone would do that and yes, very, very unappatizing.” she replied. “We should talk about something else.” Before she could think of something, she was distracting by Ciúin. She watched him gulp in the water with curiosity and continued to as he swished it around. Upon his fountain like ejection of the pool water, she couldn’t help but giggle. Laughing, she said, “I try and avoid getting the pool water in my mouth, but I guess chlorine is better then Lutefisk!”

"Indeed, we should," Ciúin agreed to the change in topic. "Pool water does not taste good, no. But it probably does taste better than Lutefisk." He made another retching noise. Now just the sound of the word put a bad taste in his mouth.
"I have never played video games," Ciúin figured it was the best thing, since Áróra had said she enjoyed them, "we do not have any in the house." The more he thought about it, the less this seemed like a good idea. He didn't really know where to go with this subject now. "Um, what kind of games do you play?"

“You should try them some time, they can be really fun!” A big grin spread across her face as she began thinking of the many games she enjoyed. “Well um there are puzzle games, like Portal! In that one you use this thingy that makes portals in the walls and solve puzzles; it’s one of my favorites. Then there are shooters; I don’t play many of those, but I do like Bioshock. It’s kind of scary, but you get to save the little girls and you can use magic, but it’s not magic in that game; it is technology! There are RPGs like the Mana and Final Fantasy series’; I didn’t like the new Final Fantasy so much. There are also platformers, and strategy, and survival horror, and sim games like Civilization! In that on you make a civilization and help it grow! Daddy always tries to conquer the world when he plays, but I like launching into space! They also have these games you play online that are kind of like RPGS but you play with lots of other people; I don’t really play those though. They seem like they would take too much time.” Taking a deep breath after her explanation of some video games, she sunk into the water down to her chin.

Ciúin stared at her. He hadn't realized there were so many games out there, though, now that he thought about it, it made sense. He'd read about conventions that were devoted entirely to video games. And there were all those stores that were all over town. "That is a lot of different types of games. If I ever played, I do not think I would be very good at any of them." He yawned, then dunked his head under the water. "I think that video games and I were not made to be. I would not be able to hear the games to play." There was just a hint of sadness in his tone.

“I am sure you could do quite well at them!” Áróra declared, “It might take some time to get good at them, but no one starts off being a master.” Áróra giggled at the thought of a Master Gamer, it sounded kind of silly when she thought about it. “I don’t think your hearing should keep you from playing most games. Some do rely more on sound. With shooting games, you wouldn’t be able to hear someone firing at you, you would have to be hit or see them, but there are plenty other games you would be fine at. Sometimes, when I play, I even turn the sound off because it is distracting! Some of the newer ones, you might miss out on dialogue and plot, though a majority of games have text and sound for that. Actually, I wonder if the others have closed captioning, like tv shows and movies. I have no idea, never tried it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some did. Even if not, there are plenty of games you should be able to play just as normal and some that you could play, they just might be a little harder.” Leaning in close, she added with a grin, “And once you beat the ones that are harder for you, that just means you are that much better at them.”
