It took the wolf a moment the realize what the wolf had just asked, the shadows were easy. But the killing. . .that was hard. "Are you ready to die?" He asked and looked at the shadows pulling them towards him almost. There was no magic involved in it, only a trick of the eye. Knowinghow the light hit your pelt and how to keep it from shining.

Rorret watched him carefully, following his every movement, shifting his weight from paw to paw, trying subconsciously to mimic his mentor's stance. His brow furrowed in concentration. "Am I?" He asked, genuinely surprised by the question.
Die. Eid. Idea. Death. Around in a circle and it all came back to the same place. Death. Deh-eth. Thhh. Such a quiet, rasping word. Such a dark, shadowy word.
He shook his head, confidently. "No. I will never die."

Xihuitl chuckled at his small pupil, yet so much to learn. He was lucky to have some so early. He would grow up knowing little to nothing else than the ways of the pack.
"Then you cannot learn to kill yet. You must be prepared to die before you can take the life of another." He said and Looked at the shadow. for now he would teach teh young one to disseapear, for until he learned to make a kill he would need to know how to run and hide. "Tie your scarf so it doesn't come lose from your body. I will teach you the ways of shadow illusion" He said and walked into a shaow, completly vanishing from sight. It was harder for him since he was so bright. But for the pup it would be easier.

"But why?" Rorret asked, pressing the issue. That didn't make any sense to him at all. He didn't want to die. He wanted to kill.
Or did he? Maybe that was the other wolf's point. He had no concept of death, really. Not in any real sense. He knew the word, he knew the theory...but he didn't really appreciate what it was to kill. He was too young to have hunted for himself, after all. He had seen prey alive, and seen meat dead -- but had never been present to see the one slip into the other.
Still, that lesson would have to wait, as there was another at hand. Nodding, he gave his ribbon a deft tug, pulling the bottom up through the top and wrapping it tight about a forepaw. It wouldn't come loose without a good shake. He watched, carefully, as the wolf seemed to disappear entirely, and his brow furrowed, confounded at the illusion.

Xihuitl smiled and showed himself in the shadows though he didn't move. "See? Its just a trick, you must watch the shadows and the sky. Then make yourself now shine against it, turn your eyes away so your not directly looking at your victim. The cloak will help when you get one but for now you must be consious of your whole body."

He stared intently at his tutor, then at the trees, then up at the moon. He watched the moon, the way the rays of light spread from its shining orb, the way the light filtered through the trees, and then he looked at the ground, the pattern of the shadows.
He thought he understood.
Tentatively, he crept forward, as though stalking the darkness. He stood in a dark patch, and glanced up at the moon, then shifted his body, moving away from the light it cast, moving from the path of the light shaft.
He glanced sidelong up at Xihuitl, to see if he was doing it right.

Xihuitl nodded, he was doing quite well, "That is good, now fix your tail and shift away your eyes. You can see your prey without looking at it, your ears will help you with that." He said and moved around the pup.
"Now what happens if you need to move? Can you shift your body and move at the same time? Pull it all together so you flow through the shadows?" He asked and his tail flicked to the side waiting with anticipation to see if he could do it.

His tail? What was the matter with....he glanced back, and realized the pale tip was glimmering. He tucked it between his hind legs, assuming a submissive position without even realizing it. He averted his eyes, skulking in the shadow, and tried to fix his ears upon him.
This was so hard! But he liked that. He'd never been challenged before, and though this wasn't the kind of challenge he expected, he discovered he enjoyed it.
Slowly, carefully, trying to be both silent and invisible, he sidled through the shadows, trying to step only in patches of darkness, his body crouched down. He looked a little ridiculous, actually. But he was figuring it out, sort of.
He wouldn't be covering a lot of ground at this anytime soon, though!

Xihuitl was proud of his pupil. "Good! Very good Rorret! The speed will come later, all you need to know now is how to hide and get away" He nodded his head. Noticing the submissive position Xihuitl wasn't sure if Rorret was destined to be and omega, he wasn't sure who was the stronger pup. him or his brother. "Rorret, tell me about your brother" He said letting him know it was alright to come out of the shadows. Xihuitl was rather tired now so he laied down keepnig his ears fixed on things aronud him just in case.

His ears swept forward, and he crept forward a little reluctantly. Lurking in the shadows felt powerful, somehow. He would practice in his spare time.
His brother? He blinked. Collier was....not what he wanted to discuss, ever. He hesitated, not sure how to proceed on the topic. On the one hand, he didn't precisely love his brother. On the other, he didn't want to reveal what he believed true about him -- that Collier was a lesser, the sort of wolf they fed upon. And he didn't want that to happen.
"Collier, is...he misses Mother, still," he said, carefully. "He hasn't figured out yet how great he could be. He's scared, a lot."

Xihuitl nodded, sensing the fear that he felt for his brother. "Do not fear Rorret, your brother has no reason to fear me" He said and watched as the pup shimmer through the shadows. His movements becomming more graceful and secure in itself.
"Your donigvery well, what would you like to learn next?"

He sure hoped that was true. He didn't know why he cared so much, but somehow he feared that something would happen to Collier...and somehow, he knew he'd miss him. And that bothered him. The realization that it bothered him, bothered him even more.
"I...think I'd like to practice this, for awhile," he said, after a moment. As much as he was enjoying learning, he was the sort of wolf who sought perfection, and he wanted to become a master of shadows before moving on to the next quest. "If that's alright, brother?"

Xihuitl nodded and laied there watching his pupil. "You may call me by my name, you do not have to be formal with me. Call me Xihuitl" He said and smiled at the younge one, he did not like the formalities put into place for pups and how they always called him brother.

"Xihuitl," he said, testing this on his tongue. It was a mouthful. The word felt...stringy. Like lean meat. He tried to reverse it, and stumbled over it in his thoughts before it made it to his mouth. A name he couldn't say backwards. That was a challenge indeed.
His tail gave a twitch. "Thank you for the lesson." He lingered a moment, thinking about something. Almost shyly, he asked, "....Do you play games, Xihuitl?"

He smiled as the pup played with his name, seeming to have a problem with it at first. Xihuitl liked his name, it was different but reflected him perfectly.
"Games?" He questioned and nodded, "Yes i enjoy games on occasion"
