Thayne sent him a panicked look when Layren mentioned rabies. "F-food poisoning, I'll take food poisoning, please." He said, trying to make a joke. The Phim got to his feet shakily and smiled at Layren. "See? All better. But...I think I should get back to the cave now." He said, promising himself to never eat another rabbit again.

"Dont worry its probably food poisoning. You aren't really showing the symptoms of Rabies mostly because I haven't been attacked viciously yet. So I guess you get your wish. Food poisoning it is." He stated. Layren watched Thayne carefully. It would be the perfect time to leave. After all Thayne would know about it and better yet the sunset phim couldnt really jump after him. He stared at Thayne for a good long while before he realized he didnt want to leave. It was still cowardly and the phim was hurt and in pain. what kind of fox would he be to just leave thayne and crush him like that.
So layren walked over and quietly shifted Thayne over a bit so layren was supporting his weight and he slowly started leading towards the cave.

Thayne wanted to point out that those particular symptoms of rabies didn't strike that quickly, but another wave of nausea stopped that particular thread of conversation. Thayne fought the wave off successfully, mostly because there really wasn't that much left in his stomach, and allowed Layren to help him back to the cave.
The sunset Phim tried to take as much of his weight as possible, conscious of all Layren's protests about his back. Thayne glanced over at the purple and blue Phim, then decided to study the ground. He'd seen the considering look in Layren's eyes...even though the other had decided to stay and help him to the cave and Thayne didn't know what to do about it. He tried to hold the panic at bay, knowing he was fairly helpless to stop his mate from flying off. Still, Layren staying was a good sign...right?
"Thank you...for helping me back to the cave. My legs feel like rubber."

Layren could feel the tension all through out Thayne’s body and knew he was probably fending off another wave of nausea. He turned his head looking over at the sunset phim again catching Thayne’s gaze before his partner seemed to think the ground was more interesting. He had probably had caught his expression during the whole thinking process.
“If they feel so much like rubber then you should lean on me more, I’m not invalid you know.” Layren stated and then looked up in the opposite direction towards the storming sky. “You know if you’re going to be my mate you can’t be done in by such a little thing as a rabbit,” He shook his head. “Well let’s go get you better and then we can work on the whole what not to eat thing”

"Wh-what about your back?" Thayne asked even as he leaned just a little more on Layren. His legs were going to give out if Thayne continued putting that much weight on them right now, and then Layren would have to carry all of him.
When Layren mentioned Thayne being his mate, the sunset Phim whipped his head around to look at the other male and then had to pause because the world started spinning. That was the first time Layren had really talked as if they were mates. Unfortunately Thayne wasn't well enough to give the consession its proper due; namely jumping around excitedly and maybe a lick or two on Layrens muzzle.
Thayne settled for a small smile. "Okay Layren." he said, agreeing to the discussion...or maybe more of a lecture, on what not to eat.

“What about it, sure it’s a bit sore and you shouldn’t go full body tackling it for a while but like I said just seconds ago I’m hardly invalid. If I strip it out I’ll just walk to Kaname’s and get it fixed” Layren told him purposely forgetting to point out the fact that Kaname lived all the way out in the desert. However the blue and purple phim smiled as he noticed Thayne did however transfer more weight over to him.
Suddenly Layren was face to face with the sunset phim who looked like he regretted the action. Well it was probably better than what the phim was normally. It was probably a good idea to come to this decision while the other was sick. “If your going to stress yourself out I’m not going to mention anything about that matter anymore” he stated teasingly. Before looking out for the cave, for some odd reason he remembered the distance being shorter?
“yep, I've decided you're definitely getting a lecture because seriously you should know what to eat and not what to eat silly bird” he stated shaking his head.

Thayne wanted to point out that if Layren 'stripped' his back the Phim would be going nowhere fast, but another wave of nausea flowed over him and the sunset Phim decided to keep his mouth shut for a bit to prevent further embarrassment.
"It was a rabbit. I've eaten rabbit before." Thayne mumbled. And the rabbit had tasted delicious. The only problem was...it had seemed to die right before Thayne had gotten to it. Before that, the stupid creature had happily been munching on mushrooms.

Layren frowned at the rabbit comment. It was true they had definitely had rabbit before. Thayne was often right next to Layren so he would have seen the rabbit right, well he supposed that there where the moments that he had managed to escape before Thayne had tackled him or it could have been when he was sleeping.
“out of curiosity. Did you kill the rabbit your self or what exactly was it doing before you ate it” Layren said staring at thayne perhaps he would know how to better take care of thayne if he knew just exactly what happened to the creature before it was eaten.

They got back to the cave and Thayne pretty much just collapsed before looking up at Layren. "The rabbit had been eating mushrooms. I pounced at it and it tried to hop away, but I guess I gave it a heart attack or something cause it keeled over and died." Thayne had thought it a little odd, but it was still a fresh rabbit, so nothing decayed or spoiled could have affected him.

Layren looked over at Thayne like the sunset phim had grown another head. He wasn’t serious was he? A sudden twitch came over him and he resisted the urge to whack Thayne on the back of the head. Perhaps he would when the other felt better. “Wait shouldn’t a rabbit no better…. Kami-san” Layren muttered shaking his head. This was ridiculous. “Thayne… it died because it ate a poisonous mushroom. You’re lucky you aren’t feeling a lot worse” he stated still lightly twitching.

Thayne frowned. "Then...why was the stupid creature eating them?" His eyes suddenly got round and he looked up at his mate. "Maybe it was crazy or rabid. Or both! That's...that's not contagious...is it?" Thayned asked, panting against the pain in his stomach. He hoped he hadn't gotten enough poison in his system to actually kill him. Or contract crazy-rabidness from the rabbit either.

Layren titled his head to the side to actually think about the answer. Normally rabbits knew what to eat right? Perhaps Thayne had some thing there when he mentioned a crazy or rabid rabbit. “Well it wasn’t rabid, eating rabid meat would cause you to have different symptoms. I don’t think you have to worry about going crazy… for too long, hopefully” Layren pointed out. “I’m guessing it was probably young and stupid and I have no idea. “
He nibbled on his bottom lip trying to think on how he could help Thayne’s symptoms. Perhaps he could leave the cave just long enough to go find a ginger root or maybe he had something in the stores he often kept in this cave. He visited here often enough. “I’ll be right back. I’m just going a further bit into the cave to check something” he stated hoping thayne didn’t think he was going to leave.

Thayne's ears dropped and he sent Layren a pitiful look. The purple phim, Thayne realized, did not have the best bedside manner. He didn't have to worry about being crazy for too long? Thayne didn't particularly want to be crazy at all. Well, any more than he already was anyway.
The sunset phim froze at Layren saying he'd be leaving, but Thayne forced himself to nod and keep the panic off his face. Didn't Layren already say he wasn't about to fly off? Trust. That's what he was going to do...couldn't really do much else anyway. Thayne dropped his head to his paws and gave a soft whine, watching Layren as he went further into the cave.

Layren just gave a reassuring smile back not really sure what to do. Sure he had been sick but there had been no one to take care of him when he was. He was certain his parents probably did but they had died such a long time ago he didn’t remember any sick time comfort. So he wasn’t quite sure what to do for Thayne’s pitiful look.
Layren ruffled through his supplies and truly hope he had stocked on ginger. He didn’t want to go out in this weather and try to find it in the dark but he would. Luckily his good luck won out and he in fact did have a ginger jar. Perhaps that was what had happened to the rabbit. Layren had a thing about passing bad luck to other foxes. Shaking his head he cleared his head and grabbed the plant. As he walked back to Thayne he wondered just how he was going to give this to the phim.

Thayne was not one for staying still, and as soon as Layren was out of sight, he jumped up to pace off his nerves. Not that that worked out well for him. He got about two steps before having to sit again due to a wave of dizziness.
Hearing paws padding back from the direction Layren had come, Thayne looked up at the purple phim and wagged his tail a bit. Layren didn't leave! Thayne smiled happily and let himself drop back into a lieing position.
