Actually I refer you to episode one, where Rygart lets everybody know that both he and his brother are unsorcerers.
He says something like "We didn't have a funeral, all my dad was known for was raising two unsorcerers and going into debt putting me through military school"

I'll have to check back because from what I remember, the father put up everything for Rygart to go to the academy. The brother was never mentioned as being a unscorcerer.
