She laughed a little. What an interesting hyena, she had no idea they could be so amusing. (She'd also never been flirted with in her life.) And he wasn't running away calling her crazy. Maybe she would like to settle down near more hyenas like Kinang wanted, if they were all like this one. "Oh yes," She tossed her mane a bit, "stripes are very superior. And we both have many stripes. You must be favored by my father."
Considering that her father, in reality, was a sneaky, no good, conniving hyena the compliment was dubious. However at least he was an extremely intelligent and clever sneaky, no good, conniving hyena. And in Pinakip's mind a god. So taking it from her was a compliment (but you wouldn't want to hear that from her sister, Kinang).

This female was definitely a bit ... odd. But she wasn't nearly as strange as some of the ones Kepo had met. She probably hadn't been raised by sensible hyenas. That was most likely her problem. It should be fixed easily enough if she spent time around extremely sensible hyenas like Kepo himself. He wasn't sure why she was so obsessed with her father, but hopefully it would pass.
"I actually take after my aunt," he offered. "She is a very beautiful queen."

"Do you? I do not have an aunt." Pinakip thought it was a shame she didn't have much family other then her sister and mother. "It sounds like you might have a large family. I wish I had a big family." There would always be a part of her that despite being honored at having a god for a father, had always wanted him to be physically around. "Do you have siblings? And your aunt's a queen? Of what?"

Always happy to talk about himself and his family (the best bunch of hyenas in the world, clearly), Kepo grinned. "I do have a big family. There's my mom and my aunt, three other hyena ladies, my three little cousins, and my brothers and sisters. Four of em. And we have a lion slave and her cubs. Oh, and the consorts," Kepo added as an afterthought. "They're stupid but my mom 'n' aunt keep them around for making babies." He sniffed disparagingly. Those males were worthless, really. "My mom 'n' aunt are queens 'cause they're the bosses of our clan. But the other ladies are important too, of course."
Talking about his family made Kepo feel very grand. He felt sorry for Pinakip that she didn't have such an awesome family. "I'm sorry you don't have a big family. Sometimes it's annoying to have so many hyenas around, but I don't really like being alone." He shivered at the thought. He didn't know how rogues stood it. It was probably why so many acted so strange.

Aww the poor guy was missing his family. Pinakip didn't really know what consorts were but she dismissed the thought along with the lion slaves. "Sounds like you have a wonderful family." She shifted back towards him to lean against him comfortingly. Being alone sucked. "Well you're not alone at the moment. And you can always go home right?"

She was leaning against him! Kepo was thrilled. As loyal as he was to his family, they weren't generally very affectionate. He certainly wasn't very affectionate with his siblings ... just competitive. So the young hyena wasn't really used to friendly contact. Still, the leaning was nice. It must mean she was head over heels for him.
Well, obviously. What hyena with a brain wouldn't be?
"I'm happy I'm not alone," Kepo said, smiling at the wonderful striped Pinakip. "You're good company, Pinakip. I don't even want to go home now, not when I'm with such a wonderful hyena." Laying it on a little thick, maybe, but at least he was trying.

Well she was glad he was feeling better. She knew a good snuggle with perk him up. But to not want to go home to his family, whom he clearly adored, just because he was with her!? Pinakip was nearly preening inside. Kinang was the only one who'd ever stayed with her for any period of time but she didn't always seem happy about it. But here was a male who was happy to be around her!
"Th-thank you." If hyenas could blush, Pinakip would be red as a tomato. She almost didn't know what to do with herself at all the praise. Kepo might be laying it on a little thick but Pinakip was eating it up.

Kepo could tell that he was making an impression on this female. She liked him! A lot! Ah, that was the curse of being so handsome and witty. Females just fell for him left and right. Just like Pinakip, Kepo was preening inside. He had won the heart of a beautiful stripey female! Even if she was a little bit weird, she seemed otherwise perfect.
"I'm just telling the truth," Kepo said, smiling at the female next to him.

Pinakip's tail started wagging again. "Well, I like being around you too." And she did. He was kind and intelligent and striped and he complimented her and she could keep listing his good points until the sun went down. She'd completely forgotten that she was looking for Kinang. And she didn't need to preach to this fellow because he already agreed with her. Today was a wonderful day!

"That's good to know." Kepo felt vastly satisfied with himself. The female wasn't as bossy as some he had met, but she was wonderful to talk to. Maybe she would become bossier later. And she was gorgeous, stunning! He had seduced probably the hottest hyena on the savannah.
Well ... almost seduced. Truthfully, Kepo was a bit inexperienced at the whole seduction thing. He knew in his heart that she was in love with him, but he wasn't quite sure what to do next.
Oh, well. He was sure he would figure it out. For now, he was having a great time just chatting. Kepo had never really wagged his tail in his life, but he did it to match Pinakip. He felt very happy to have met this female.
