Arden watched as the other stallion made his way to water. He wondered if he would ever open up to him, or if would just tend the garden and work through his problems silently

Finding the bucket he set about making trips and carefully watering each plant just enough. He enjoyed physical labor, and the peace of quiet. It was calming, relaxing. He enjoyed moments like this more then he did a good night's sleep. He was almost sad when he watered the last small cluster of leaves. Seeing a bit more water in the bucket, he drank some. A small nudge of his nose pushed the bucket towards Arden and he nodded in it's direction, offering a drink to the other stallion.

Arden acknowledged and took a much need sip of water. He could feel the water slake down his throat and soothe it. He had not realized how dry his mouth was until then. Nodding his head, he acknowledged a silent thanks.
Examing another cluster of plants, he smiled and he breathed in the essence of the blooms. "Anytime that you're in the area. Feel free to..." He smiled, "I think they will be abundant this year."

He gave a small nod of thanks, trying to keep himself from resenting the talking. After all, he was grateful for the comfortable silence they had shared before.

Arden sighed, the conversation would remain quiet it seemed. It was not that he didn't like it. It was soothing, but it seemed like there was something hanging in the air.

Pachu'a tilted his head slightly in question, asking without words about the sigh. He had thought that things had been going well enough, but... perhaps not. What was it that was bothering the other stallion? Was it something that he could fix? He flicked his ears in concern.

Arden looked at the other stallion, considering what to say. "Something is wrong. You seem...ill at ease, as I am ill of spirit."

He tilted his head and nudged his nose to the other stallion. He didn't want the other to speak more, per se, but he could not help if he did not know the problem... Hopefully the other would communicate it non-verbally, rather then taking the crutch of speech and laziness.

Arden sighed, it had been a long time since Acacia had come to visit. But maybe he was just oversharing with this stallion, how could he translate to him what he had done to save the one who had become like a daughter to him?

Pachu'a moved closer and gave the other a small comforting nudge. He was here, and if he could, he would help. He knew what it was like to have a heavy heart, and he wanted to help. Even if the other had started talking again, he still would have helped. He owed him a debt for the calm and peace he had felt before. Yes. That was it. That was why he was offering. A debt Just a debt. Nothing more. Nope. Not a thing.

Arden smiled weakly in gratitude. He was trying to convey the heaviness he felt---how it felt to have practically sold your soul. He looked out in the distance as if he was waiting someone to come. But she would not come, she was angry at me.
"She hates me." I let the words hang in the air. She was like a daughter though she wasn't that much younger than him.

He gave him a small encouraging nudge. He didn't know what that was like, or more.. he didn't care if he was hated. But he knew it mattered to some Soqs. Silently, he tried to comfort the other, to reassure that at least there was one who didn't hate him. At least, not yet.

Arden could feel the pain tighten in his chest. For a moment, he focused on his breathing. The nudge was reassuring. Nothing had changed, he loved her like his own child. Anything he had done for her, he would gladly do again--despite the cost. Wasn't that what it was like to love someone? Unconditionally. He'd never experienced that sensation before this moment of self-realization.
She wasn't speaking to him now, but she would again--eventually. He had watched he grow, she had a good heart and he was proud of her. She would forgive him in time, because his was a mistake out of love.
He nudged the other stallion back. "Thank you."

Pachu'a nodded. He was glad the other was feeling better, and conveyed that with a flick of his ears and a look.
Talking was such a crutch, and only made things harder, ironically. Had they been the talking type, they'd have spent hours in which Pachu'a would have learned more about the other then either would be comfortable with, and might be trying to impose his own views and responses. They would have spent many times over as long as this took, and for what? The likelihood that the other would feel better after all that was fairly low. However, by not talking, the other stallion turned inward. In Pachua's experience, most conflicts that harmed the heart had resolution that could best be found by inward reflection. And talking inhibited that.
He gave the other another comforting nudge, thinking briefly of his own heart ache. Then he locked her face and memory away. Nothing that could be done about her leaving him. It was what it was.

Arden felt some of the apphrension leaving him. He knew that somewhere deep inside that Acacia knew he had meant no harm. Sometimes it happened though, when you protected someone. Sometimes you were too close to see or care what they would feel as long as they were safe.
He looked to the other stallion, noticing the same kind of sadness. Somehow, he knew that the other understood without him speaking. Giving a long sigh, Arden motioned to a knoll a few yards away where head grown some sweet grass there and into the field for a snack while tending.
