Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri wandered inside the building, taking a seat in the sitting area and uncovered the wriggling fur bundle that was making squeaking noises from inside her coat. Two large ears flicked and Aini blinked under the lights, looking around her.
'Ok we are here now, you can stop trying to excavate my ribs.'

JadeEye
Probably not to long after, Jade swiftly made her entrance, her face squinched in an expression of pain. In her arms was her little white tiger bundle of "joy" whom currently had his maw around her wrist, his sharp milk teeth embedded firmly in her flesh. Dribbles of blood traced down her arm before smearing thickly on her black leather jacket. Some of the blood looked relatively dry, so one might believe this issue had been an ongoing one...not something very recent.

"Blake...PLEASE..." she begged in a breathy tone, trying not to grow hysterical. "You're hurting mommy."

The feline gave a snarly hiss around the flesh and bone in his mouth and flattened his ears, hardly relaxing his bite.

Lenachan358
Just at the door was opened you could hear babbling noises and a sigh. Andraste was trying to keep Jacosa within her arms as he wiggled like mad. He had been here before ! Perhaps he could get back to his furry parents ?

The big dark eyes blinked several times and he had started to suck his fish pendant because of excitement. Andraste held him tightly as she wandered towards the strangers and tried to make herself smile...at least a bit.

"Hello...so I see you got one of them too ?" Jacosa stared at the twitching ears and tried to reach for the girl. "Oh...and yours is as active as mine." Looking at Blake she grinned slightly and pointed at the otter baby whose tail was hitting her hardly as he tried to get towards the others.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri nodded;
'Yes, this is Aini, she is a fennec fox. I'm Sayuri..' she trailed off, her eyes widening at the sight of Jade being pretty much savaged by the babe in her arms.
'Tap him on the nose or something,' she advised. Young predators teeth were often sharp and needle-like and so very painful to be bitten with.

JadeEye
"I didn't want to hurt him," she mumbled between gritted teeth. "Besides, I did try that already and all it did was piss him off more." Jade attempted to shift Blake and tickle his belly, trying to see if that might help. She was running out of ideas at this point.

The white tiger baby growled again and lashed his tail hard, trying to get Jade to knock off her prodding. Fortunately his tail lacked enough strength to make her arm sting as it struck. Still, Jade got the point and stopped messing with him, resigning herself to having a baby-sized leech on her wrist until he decided he was going to let go.

Lenachan358
"I see. This is Jacosa and he's...well, an otter. I'm glad he doesn't bite, but he's lacking a front tooth anyway." The young woman shrugged as she sat down. Jacosa instead couldn't have been happier. Interesting people ! And something that growled and made noises.

Quickly he answered with babbling, squealing and stretching out his hands towards the striped one. He made a fist and opened it again.
But quickly he got bored and turned to the white fluffy one. Repeating his noises he made the same movements and waited for a reaction.

"So...I'm pretty new to this. Let's say...I didn't even want a baby. Is there anything...special I have to know ?" Being a bit embarrassed Andraste scratched her head.

Sayuri_Nitta
'What more then he is hurting you? A quick little bit of pain will teach him that its not nice to bite like that. Aini chews on me sometimes and I either flick her nose or blow a whistle near her.'
She shifted Aini, who was peering at the otter baby.
'Or distract him with food. That works as well. But you cant let him get away with that behaviour.'

'Well I did alot of research when I got Aini. That helped me, especially decoding her habits and stuff.' she smiled at Andraste.

JadeEye
Jade's expression soured some.

"I know he's not supposed to get away with it, but I already have one son that hates my guts...I'd prefer to not get on the wrong foot with this one already," she said somewhat hotly, her cheeks flushing in indignation. Mmmph...

Thankfully, she didn't have to resort to flicking his nose again. The baby finally let go, having heard finally some strange noises from nearby that sounded more like noises he would make. He licked his blood-stained fangs, then grimaced and yowled irritably. Seemed that blood wasn't quite his taste...at least, right now. He glared at Jascosa and flared his nostrils.

Jade winced as the teeth were extracted, then exhaled noisily once she realized she had been holding her breath. The little vampire-like fang marks on her wrist glimmered with more blood, but it didn't seem to be flowing quite like it had been upon the initial contact.

Sayuri_Nitta
'Well I am sorry. I was just ...trying to help.'
Aini looked from the otter babe to the striped one, and sniffed the air. What was that smell? It was coppery and something inside kind of switched on. She whined, wriggling even more.

Lenachan358
"Sounds like a pretty good idea...research...research..." Andraste mumbled as she wondered why Jacosa didn't feel offended by Blake's glare. He just looked as happy as usual and still extended his hands. The fish pendant was shaking slightly, but the otter didn't seem to care. Still there was something new, something that needed to be discovered.

The woman's eyes fell on the wound and she snorted. "Phew...looks bad." Getting up a little she pulled two or three plasters out of her trousers' pocket and handed one to Jade. With a sigh she pointed at her neck. "Look, I tried to give him a bath and my very dear otter by tried to eat the soap...but he didn't like it and threw it out of the bathtub and I slipped on it...well..." Another plaster was decorating a large bruise on her skin there.

"He's always excited about everything. I tell you that isn't so nice either."

JadeEye
"Bleh...I rather inflict the wounds on myself then having his charming little teeth do the work for me," she said, again shifting Blake so she could stick the bandages on her battlescars. "And at least yours is excited to go places. You'd think I was taking Blake to be shaved naked or something with the amount of trouble he puts up everytime I try to get him somewhere...."

The tiger baby continued to glare at Jacosa, but once in awhile his eyes flitted to the shiny on the dark one's chest. That was one thing he liked...shinies.

Lenachan358
Andraste nodded and was for the first time happy to have Jacosa. At least he hadn't bitten her yet and she doubted that he would ever dare to do so. "Do you have many children ?" She asked curiously wondering if she had a baby veteran in front of her. "I so had problems to find the right diapers...I mean...I didn't even know that diapers with wholes for babies with a tail existed. It's truly amazing what you can find in Gaia's stores if you just look long enough."

As the stripey one didn't seem to react Jacosa started to sniff. What a strange smell ? Why did the white one cry ? Seeming startled for a moment he decided to suck on his fish pendant again, which calmed him down a bit.

JadeEye
"Many children?" Jade tried not to laugh. "Many and well varied would be the best way to put it..." Between Ava, Yanisin, Blake, and her other assortment of pets that were more like children then she cared to admit, she had a VERY full household. At the mention of diapers with tailholes, she snorted. "Probably because the population demanded it...I remember when I went into a store that didn't have them and my eldest son Yanisin was out of 'em....well, let's just say they have them now."

Blake sniffed the air, catching the other baby's strange scent. And what was it doing to the shiny?! Nooo...it was dirtying it! The tiger cub growled and swatted the air clumsily, trying to tell the stranger that shinies were not to be tainted in such a manner.

Lenachan358
Andraste listened carefully and grinned as she heard about the store. "So you seem pretty experienced. I never thought about children. My...'colleague'.." The woman stressed the word in a very annoyed way. "...Well, he gave me the address and before I knew I ended up with Jacosa. I'm not a very maternal woman. I hope Jacosa doesn't get damaged or so...although I doubt it, because he already is very strange and happy about everything."

The otter tried to wiggle out of Andraste's arms as she shoved him back onto her lap. The other one wanted something, he knew it ! But what...what did he want ?
Following his looks he looked at the fish. Was he interested in the tasty thing ? It tasted a bit like salt and like home. Yes, Jacosa was sure home tasted like this.

His hands tried to show the fishie to blake, but it was quite heavy to hold it up for a long time.

JadeEye
"I've never had a kid quite like him...sure, my daughter Ava is a spitfire. At least she has moment where she can be sweet and loveable. Blake? Oooooh no. I have not ONCE seen him look angelic or sweet. Even when he sleeps, he snarls." Jade peered at the bundle in Andraste's arms finally and relaxed, realizing what Jacosa was exactly. She always did like otters.

It was at this time that Blake attempted to lunge from Jade's arms to get at the fish pendant in the other baby's hands. He wanted it...and he wanted it NOW. Luckily, Jade had grown some remarkably wonderful reaction skills due to raising what was now her third child and saved him from toppling to the floor.

Lenachan358
"Perhaps he's ill or something ? There has to be a reason for his grumpiness...right ?" Andraste suggested as she petted the otter baby's head and kept him from showing around the fish pendant.

"Shh...don't make him nervous. Look, Blake doesn't like this." Jacosa listened to the words but no doubt he didn't understand the intention. Or perhaps he just didn't want to be distracted from his mission to touch the striped one. Instead of extending the pendant now he simply started to make noises again and poked his nose against Andraste's arms.

JadeEye
"I don't think they'd give them to me if he was sick...he came like this. I wonder if there's a return policy..."

Blake yowled and struggled against Jade's grasp. Dammit...he wanted that pendant! He glared at Andraste now since she was hiding the shiny from him too. Two against one was NOT fair.

Lenachan358
"You mean...we could push them back through this rift ?" Andraste's eyes sparkled a bit as she thought about the option of being independent again, but there was also something very tiny in her heart which made her feel guilty.

"If not we could probably meet up more often. It looks like Jacosa is able to distract Blake from your arm..at least for a while." She offered and focused on the otter who was very confused about his new friend's behaviour. Was this a new game ? He had balls at home which were allowed to be chewed. Perhaps the other one thought he was a ball ?

Babbling he stared at the rebellious cat and wondered why the other one looked somehow...angry ? There needed something to be done about that. As Andraste didn't pay attention he moved to the end of her legs and was about to reach for the other baby.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri came back from the bathroom after cleaning up Aini from when she had hacked up bugs. She sat again, trying to fold the squirming fennec onto her lap again. Aini squeaked in protest and tried to get to Blake and Jacosa.

JadeEye
"Well, even not pushing them back through the rift...just...giving him to Karma and saying "Well that was fun!" and walking out..."
Though really, there was no way she'd do it. First off, he was a white tiger and did Jade say no EVER to a white tiger? Secondly...well...he wasn't that bad. Maybe.

She then mutely observed the two baby's interaction, growing leery when Jacosa got closer and closer. Blake too didn't appreciate this fully either. Sure, the shiny was getting closer, but so was that other bigger dark person that kept chewing on it. A soft rumble started in his chest, barly audible until it slowly increased in volume as the otter baby got closer and closer. The fur on the top of his head and shoulders started to bristle.

Lenachan358
Andraste nodded and waved slightly at Sayuri who had arrived back. "Sounds like an idea, but I doubt she would take them again." She grinned and finally looked at the otter again. "JACOSA !"

Not impressed at all and awfully curious the otter glanced at the moving fur and wondered how Blake was able to do this. He wanted to do it too, but somehow he wasn't able to. Why did the other one make different noises now ? Scary noises...For a moment or two the otter seemed to hesitate but was quickly distracted by a squeak. Oh the white one was back !

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri stood, finally fed up with Aini's wriggling and went over to the other women.
'Well sometimes when Aini wont stop whining I think the same thoughts...but when she is asleep she is very sweet,' she joked.

JadeEye
"rrrrRRRRRAWR!" snarled Blake suddenly as the otter turned his head. He took the opportunity to lunge forward again, claws extended on both paws, and tried to rake the little one's face and chest. Again, he was thwarted by Jade, who yanked him back and clucked disapprovingly until Blake retaliated, twisted, and attached his claws to Jade's arm like it was some sort of scratching post. He was exceedingly pleased with the loud yelp he produced from his "mother".

"I think it's time for home," Jade forced herself to say, trying not to focus on the fact she had a 10lb bag of fur, bones, and flesh hanging from her left arm.

Lenachan358
Jacosa's eyes grew wide as he noticed the rage attack of the tiger and saw the sharp claws close to his face. Alright, this was the first time Andraste experienced him to be still. His tail twitched once in a while and fear slowly grew inside his eyes as he was pulled back gently by his foster mother's hands. "I'm sorry." She said as she looked at the bundle of fur wrapped around Jade's arm. It had to hurt...

"I hope you can find something which calms him down. If you need help, someone who donates some blood or so..I'm here." She tried to grin.

Jacosa instead tried to forget about his fear quickly and babbled like before looking at the white girl.

JadeEye
Jade nodded stiffly before heading out, forcing herself to not explode in a long string of offensive language. Certainly not a good thing to do in the presence of children...

Sayuri_Nitta

'Well...' mumbled Sayuri, watching her go, shocked at the sudden attack.
'She certainly has herself.. a handful there.' she said. Aini had watched the attack with a cocked head, curious as to the scrapping noises.

Lenachan358

"Phew..you're very right." Andraste commented and examined the cute looking girl for the first time. A fox. Interesting.

"Your one seems pretty decent though. It's not such a trouble-maker, is she ?"

Jacosa sniffed as Andraste held him a bit closer to Aini and he quickly poked his nose against hers as a greeting. At least she didn't growl.

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini blinked, licking at the proffered nose and squeaked a little.
'Not really. She can whine alot, especially at night because she wants to be active then, as her kind are meant to be nocturnal. She nips sometimes, and has a habit of trying to eat worms.'

Lenachan358
Jacosa squealed as something wet hit his nose. How funny, it felt like a bath but just for his nose ! Quickly he continued sniffing and suddenly noticed something huge. Alright, not as huge as Andraste but it looked...amazingly fluffy. His hand was clearly reaching for Aini's purple bow.

"I'm pretty scared that my little one here is a bit dumb, because he just cries for food. Otherwise he's always very happy. Even if I yell at him. I wonder if he's making fun of me or if otters aren't just able to be sad." She shrugged as she pointed at the baby. "HE...eats fish if no soap is available. That's why he's smelling like this."

Sayuri_Nitta
'Eats soap huh?' she giggled at that.
Aini twisted about, waving her front paws at Jacosa, her tail flicking around. What was the short-eared creature reaching for? She whined at him.

Lenachan358
"He tried to..." Andraste growled still annoyed about the whole bathroom story.

Jacosa blinked in confusion for a moment and accidently touched her nose with his furry hand instead of the bow on her head. Well...at least something to look at. It felt a bit wet although he hadn't licked it. That was stunning ! And at once the otter startled to babble and squeal friendly. None of his attempts were able to be understood though.

"I hope he stops doing this when he grows. I mean...can you imagine him TALK ?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini sneezed as his hairs tickled her sensitive nose and she went cross-eyed trying to see what was going on. She tilted her head, squeaking in reply to Jacosa's noises...although she wasnt understanding a think he was babbling.
'I dont know that I would want Aini to talk,' Sayuri admitted.
'What if I dont like what she comes out with? I dont know for sure that everything I'm doing is right.' she sighed.
'But I also do want her to talk so she can help me out. Squeaking conveys - nothing at all!'

Lenachan358
This was a friendly one this time. A bit white, but nice. Pulling his hand back Jacosa looked at suspiciously and wondered why it was able to make people look with the eyes crossed. And she answered ! Oh joyous feelings, someone understand. Wiggling like a dog's tail the otter leaned forwards and hugged Aini roughly. You couldn't really call it a hug it was more a...way to lean against someone and grab her in a friendly way.

Andraste watched the scene with amusement and sighed. "Don't worry, if someone does everything wrong, I will be the one. I have no experience with children of any kind. Esspecially not with...otters who babble. I bet my ears will hurt even more if his sentences will make sense."

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini stuck her nose in Jacosa's fur and sniffed, then sneezed again. She sniffed along his head then licked his ear experimentivally, mainly to see if he was edible.
'I'm sure everyone is having their own problems. I know you arent alone there.'

Lenachan358
Jacosa squealed as he was licked again. That was so fun ! His small ear twitched slightly because of the tickling treatment.

Andraste smiled very slightly as she checked her watch. "Oh dear, I should be at home in about ten minutes. I need to watch the phone tonight." She sighed as she had to pull the otter away from the fennec fox.

And this was the first time Jacosa really started to wail. "Nooo..." The young woman rolled her eyes and shrugged helplessly. "You can see her again, soon, probably...I mean...they can, right ?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri chuckled softly when the otter babe cried as they were prised apart. Aini just tilted her head, wondering why the fuzzy lump was making a weird noise again.
'Yes, definately. I'm sure we will see each other here, or we can arrange a home visit at some point?'

Lenachan358
"Erm..." Andraste thought of her flat for a moment, quite well imagining the piles of dirty laundry on the floor... "Sure. Just give me a call, I guess we can make up something." A sniffling otter wiggled in her arms as she tried to pull out a small card stating her telephone number and address out of her pockets and handed it to Sayuri. She would meet up with anyone to get this little otter quiet for some time.

Jacosa was reaching out for Aini for a while and as he noticed that he didn't stand a chance he disappointedly started to suck the fish again.

"Well, it was...nice. See you soon then." Andraste said as she headed home quickly.

Sayuri_Nitta
'It was nice to meet you as well,' she said, tucking the card into the back pocket of her jeans and she curled Aini back under her jacket as she needed to leave also. Aini whined a little, then fell silent as Sayuri began walking and left.

Diary entry;

Well I finally met other people who have adopted children like Aini. Jade, who has a very...err lively white tiger cub. I say lively when I should say ill-tempered. It could just be because of his age but when she came in with him he was biting her wrist and was bleeding from it! I also met a woman called Andraste who had a lovely little otter boy who Aini seemed to get on well with. Andraste seemed to be worried that she was doing things wrong in bringing little Jacosa up but I reassured her that most likely everyone was having some sort of problems and that she shouldnt worry too much.
The little otter boy seemed upset when he and Aini were parted so hopefully we can see them again soon. I'd like her to have a solid friendship with someone who knows where she is from.

Diary entry;

Aini has grown! We spent yesterday collecting different leaves so that they could make pictures out of them, and as its full autumn now there were plenty to be had on the ground. Golds, yellows, browns, red and oranges... Catta and Aini had great fun in picking them up and bringing them back to me. Then even more fun getting covered with glue as they tried to stick the leaves on pieces of card. Catta is a little better at paw-eye co-ordination but both are a little young really for the glue to end up just on the card. At one point they managed to get stuck together! but it was only the washable non-toxic paste as so they came unstuck easy enough.
I gave both of them baths..I know they don't really like it, and animals have natural oils in their fur but they were both covered in glue gunk and leaf bits. Aini got a bit nippy, and then a bit weepy...till I dried her with a hairdryer which she loves, as she likes the feel of the warm air in her fur. Catta just lets me towel dry her, and as she was falling asleep almost when I was doing that, I rigged up a towel hammock in her room and put her in there. She normally likes to sleep up my indoor tree but I was worried she would fall off this time as she really did seem exhausted.
Aini was given a snack before bedtime then was tucked away, her ears twitching above her blanket. In the morning Catta was full of beans again and I let her out for her morning tree climb with a banana piece. Aini hadnt made her waking up noises though, so I went and checked on her before I put out her breakfast. And that's when I got the shock of my life. Aini was standing up, holding onto the edge of her little basket bed and wiggling her tail at me! She had grown over night - shot up like a small furry weed. Her eyes are still bright blue and her fur has darkened; her tail has a black tip to it. She even has what I would describe as hair, longer fur with a wave to it on her head.
Thankfully I'd been shopping in anticipation of her growing and I dressed her in a cute pair of beige slacks with a pink top. She looked quite the cute little girl if I do say so myself! Unfortuntely her growth spurt hasnt gone down so well with Catta who has still to show signs of growing herself. She wouldnt look at Aini for ages and kept pelting her with squishy banana bits, so I sent her to her room for a bit.
Aini even attempted to talk this morning over breakfast...she managed a small 'hi' and said something like 'osa'? I'm not sure what that means exactly..well anyway I best finish writing in this, I'm going to take the pair of them to the park and feed the ducks..hopefully Aini wont chase the ducks!

'Well what do you think?' Sayuri asked, showing Aini the be-ribboned dress. The fennec toddler stomped her feet, as Sayuri retrieved Catta from the top of a display once more and hooked the lemur babe back onto her obi.
'You have to have one nice dress you know,' Sayuri said as she slid it back onto the clothes stand.
'What if you get invited to a party of some sort?'
'No, no no!' Aini sat down heavily, her face scrunched up, and ears folded down. Sayuri knelt down next to Aini, a little awkwardly as she was trying to avoid squashing Catta.
'Now then,' she tutted, holding Aini's flailing arms and getting her to stand up.
'You are meant to be a big girl now, not a baby okay? Let's not have a tantrum,' Sayuri really meant 'let's not have a tantrum in such a public place as everyone is staring now'. Aini hiccuped as she slowly stopped crying.
'I 'ig gurl,' she managed.
'Oh, you are?' Sayuri said as she tugged out a tissue from a plastic pack, wiping Aini's nose and eyes.
'Well you arent acting like it right now.'
Catta chattered at Aini, in her baby nonsense talk, bright eyes watching the other child. Aini scuffed the floor, annoyed that she was being told off in front of Catta.
'I am good,' Aini insisted.
'Okay then Aini. You have to prove it to mummy,' Sayuri said, stifling a smile at the little figure that radiated indignation from her large ears down to the tip of her fluffy tail.
'You are getting a dress, and you'll try it on. And if you are very, very good throughout the rest of the shopping trip, I'll buy you a treat. Catta too,' Sayuri gently stroked the lemur pooka's head, as Catta was starting to fidget again. And so Aini tried on dresses, and Sayuri finally chose one, a pretty little garment with puffed sleeves and a thick ribboned waistband. Aini made few protests, and on the way out, they stopped in the toy shop.
'You can get anything you want...within reason.'
Aini's eyes went round and she toddled off down an aisle, with Sayuri trailing behind as she watched Aini poke at moving toys, and toys that you built, and all other manner of things. Aini led Sayuri to the cuddly section, little hands grasping at the stuffed animals. Sayuri was showing Catta a plushie banana with a smiley face, when she heard a happy squeak from Aini who was holding up a backpack shaped like a panda.
'Waaaant!' she said, tugging it on herself and walking around.
'Okay you can get that,' Sayuri chuckled, trying to pull away the plushie banana from Catta...and failing.
'Oh..well I guess your taking that home then,' Sayuri led Aini back down the front of the shop, paying for both items, before they headed for home.

Journal entry:

Today the snow started falling, spiralling thickly from the sky. Aini and Catta both watched the snow, sitting in the living room as it fell, and covered the ground. Catta soon got bored of watching the 'wite' stuff as she calls it, and went to play in her bedroom, probably swinging on the tree branches I've had set up for her in there.
Aini watched the snow fall until it slowed and then stopped, she had her face pressed against the only glass window of the room the whole time and the fur on one side of her face was flattened and cold by the time she managed to tear herself away from it.
Of course she wanted to go outside into it, so after putting on outside clothes myself, and putting small rubber boots and a warm coat on Aini we went outside. I left the front door propped open with a doorstop in case Catta needed anything. Aini loved the snow, jumping into the drifts, squealing over the prints that she left in it, and making her first snowballs and throwing them at me!
I dragged her inside eventually, my fingers were going numb. I had to promise to let her go out there again tomorrow after breakfast. She's seated again by the window, eating her dinner and looking at the snow. It's odd, a desert creatures fascination with something so cold, but its one of the things that make Aini special to me.

Aini and Catta watched with rounded eyes as Sayuri opened the boxes she had bought out from storage. Sayuri was glad that both girls had grown before Christmas rolled around so that they could both appreciate it. She unpacked the artificial tree, should would have gotten a real one but was worried about either of the girls gnawing, or eating the needles and she wasnt sure if that would be poisonous to them so she erred on the side of caution and bought a fake one. Aini played inside the box, peering over the edge and watching as Sayuri put the plastic legs into the slots on the bottom section of the tree and stood it up, whilst Catta wriggled about, eager to climb this strange tree that needed assembling!
'Ok,' Sayuri said as she pulled the branches down, arranging them so they were spread out properly.
'So I put the top half on, and then you can help put the decorations on ok?'
Catta clapped her hands, going over to one of the other boxes and opening, just managing to peer inside. What was that rustly stuff that looked glittery? She pulled out the long stuff and giggled, brushing it against the fur on her face. It felt tickly and she turned to Sayuri as Aini fell out of the Christmas tree box in her eagerness to see what Catta had.
'Wat?' Catta showed it to Sayuri.
'That's tinsel, we can drape it on the tree,' Sayuri looked over as she slotted the top part of the tree into place, and arranged the branches again. Aini tugged another strand out of the decoration box and draped it around herself, parading up and down. Sayuri giggled.
'So I'll be sticking you both on the tree as well then,' she went after them with open arms, and the toddlers ran off in different directions, giggling and squealing as they went.
'Gotcha!' Sayuri exclaimed as she picked up the wriggling lemur pooka. Catta gave Sayuri a smoochy kiss and wriggled out of her arms, leaving the tinsel around Sayuri's shoulders;
'And you,' Sayuri grabbed Aini, untangling the tinsel from the fennec's tail. Aini let forth a disgruntled yip and Sayuri deposited her on the sofa.
'You stay there now madam,' she looked around for Catta, then noticed that the tree was shaking.
'Now then,' Sayuri said, smiling.
'Either there is some special black and white tinsel on our Christmas tree or I spy a Catta in there.'
She peeked in between the branches, and Catta jumped out. Sayuri caught her and plonked her next to Aini.
'Now both of you sit there quietly whilst I decorate the tree and you can have two christmas cookies afterwards.'
The sound of the word 'cookies' was akin to a magic word, as both sat good as gold whilst Sayuri draped lights and tinsel, then hung baubles and figures. Lastly she placed a glittery golden star on the very top, and stood back.
'Shall I switch the lights on now then?' she looked at Catta and Aini who had awed expressions stamped on their little faces.
'Ites!' called Aini, bouncing on the cushion. Catta echoed the sentiment;
'Ights!'
'Okay then,' Sayuri plugged the lights in and then came on, twinkling in amongst the branches and decorations.
'Ayy!' yelled both girls.
'I'll just put the boxes away again, then we can sit down with cookies.'
'It 'vee time?' asked Catta, tugging on the bottom of Sayuri's kimono after sliding off the sofa. Aini was still bouncing on the seat, watching the lights.
'Yes we can watch something on TV,' Sayuri moved off with the boxes, and Catta scrambled back onto the sofa. There was squabbles for a moment as Aini and Catta fought over which sofa cushion to sit on, but they were all quiet when Sayuri re-entered with a tray with 3 plates and 3 glasses on it. She sat down in between them, sliding the tray onto the table in front of the sofa and handed them each a plate. Both had two iced cookies on, in the shape of a christmas tree. They had glasses of fresh orange juice as well, as neither of them particularly liked milk, and so she could only get them to drink a small glass in the morning.
Sayuri picked up the tv remote, flicking it on and searching through the channels. Eventually she found a cartoon version of 'The Christmas Carol' and she settled down to watch that, both Catta and Aini sliding over to rest on her as they nibbled their cookies. Eventually all three had fallen into a light sleep, as the TV talked to itself..

Sayuri tucked Catta into bed. The poor little pooka girl was ill with a nasty cold and hadnt stopped sneezing and coughing the last few days. She had filled a sippy cup with a warm mixture of lemon and honey, leaving it on a table next to Catta's little bed and tiptoed out.

She was accosted by Aini in the living room.
'Me wan' Penny!' pouted the fennec toddler, her paws balled and her feet stamping the floor a little. 'Penny' was the name of the panda backpack that Sayuri had given Aini when she had grown - unfortunately;
'You know you filled Penny with snow yesterday, and now she needs to dry out.'
'I dint..'
'Oh so who did it? The snow gnomes again huh?' Sayuri chuckled at Aini's downcast expression, and drooped ears.
'You can have her back when she is dry again. You can play out in the front garden but you need to go get your booties, and outside clothes on.'
Aini toddled and crawled off. She had recently started to walk but still scrambled on her hands and knees when she wanted to be faster. Sayuri began tidying the toys up from the living room floor, waiting for her to come back.

Lenachan358
"We'll buy just a few of these cracker thingers for kids, alright ? You will look at them and say 'awww' and then you'll go 'wow' and be satisfied, alright ?" Andraste told the otter who followed her across the sidewalk. They were about to go shopping for new year and Jacosa had demanded to get some nice stuff, which was supposed to explode.

Andraste had given in and now they were on their way. The otter stopped once in a while and looked at all the interesting things. He was wearing a cute woolly hat, some gloves and boots. A wintery dressed otter was obviously something seldom. Jacosa was content though, he liked the snow. It melted and then it became water.

Suddenly he spotted something familiar nearby. Didn't he know this one ? She had ears, she had fur, she....was a friend, wasn't she ?

Andraste didn't notice at first that Jacosa had wandered into the front garden and continued talking. The otter instead smiled broadly and waved with his gloves. "Hey hey hey !"

Sayuri_Nitta
Yup, Aini had wandered outside without her winter things. Penny-deprivement protest in her mind. She padded along in the snow, loving the way her paws sunk into the drifts as she wobbled along the front path...Sayuri finally realised that Aini had either forgotten that she was going outside or..she hurriedly looked outside, peering through the just open window shutters and swore under her breath. Hurrying along in a kimono wasnt an easy task but she managed it, slipping on her outside shoes and going outside.

Aini wiggled her ears, her head tilted as she looked at the otter boy.
'Osa?' she said, it was the only name she knew other then Catta's and Sayuri's.
'Osa!' she snatched up a handful of snow, going over to him and plonking it on his head with a giggle.

Sayuri slipped along, kimono skirts in hand as she went into the garden proper.
'Aini! Get inside,' she yelled, then noticed the other child.
'Oh..where did you come from?' she looked, seeing Andraste and tottering over to her.

Lenachan358
Jacosa grinned and nodded as he heard something similar to his name. "I-knee." The otter applauded himself with his gloves and laughed about the nice sound they made.

And suddenly his head felt wet and cold. He tried to look up, but just ended up with staring at the sky. Had it started to snow again ? Wasn't possible. The eyes turned back to Aini and he heard her giggle. That was a game, wasn't it ?

Quickly he grabbed some snow as well and threw it at the fox.

Andraste was just about to walk out of sight as she suddenly heard yelling. She twitched and turned around. Usually there was Jacosa involved when people were yelling and this time there was no difference. "Uh...hey." She greeting and suddenly noticed that she knew this person. New experience.

Sayuri_Nitta
'One second..' Sayuri raised a hand in greeting to Andraste then grabbed Aini, hoisting her in the air, and stuffing the fennec toddler in a coat, and pushing her feet into little rubber wellies. She put Aini down, and then smiled at Andraste.
'Andraste isnt it?' she waved her over.
'Want to come inside?' she offered.

Aini splashed in the slushy snow and grinned at Jacosa.
'Play snow? Fite snow.' and she scooped up a pawful of snow again and chucked it at him before darting off across the front of the garden towards her house.

Lenachan358
"Yes, right. Sayuri ?" Wow, she even remembered a name. What was wrong with her ? She grinned as the girl was stuffed into clothes and was glad that Jacosa had agreed on wearing his.

"Actually we wanted..." The mother started, but actually Jacosa had started to laugh and was about to follow Aini by throwing snow like a snowman on crack.

"Sure, would be nice." She sighed and was actually happy that she could get into the warmth. "Is it alright if they play outside ? Jacosa is sometimes a bit...active."

Indeed he was and was just about to grab Aini's tail as he stumbled across his own feet and hit the snow with a thud.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri nodded;
'We'll leave them out here. I don't want to stay outside too long anyway - I have another toddler inside who is unwell.' she motioned Andraste inside, catching Aini's eye quickly with a look that clearly said be good. Aini poked a little pink tongue out at Sayuri's retreating back before squealing in shock as Jacosa grabbed on her tail. She sat down heavily as well, falling back into the snow. Her eyes stung a little with pain tears but she giggled anyway.
'Osa fall doooown,' she said.

Lenachan358
Andraste followed quickly. "Oh I have that quite often now, too. Don't feel so extremely well, especially in the mornings." She frowned slightly and brushed some snow off her boots before entering. "Much better."

Jacosa rubbed his head and his dark nose. It felt soooo cold. He sighed and suddenly his breath looking like : FOG !

He was awfully excited and just stared at it before looking back to Aini, who was just poking out her tongue. That looked like fun. He tried it was well and noticed that it just became cold by doing so.

The little otter usually didn't cry when just a bit hurt, because Andraste told him not to do so. So he grinned in a very stupid way and nodded. "I-knee tooo."

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini puffed her breath harder into the air as well when she noticed the funny little white clouds that came from their mouths.
'We on fire?' she asked, tilting her head as more 'smoke' puffed from her mouth as she spoke.

'Ill in the mornings? Oh no, Catta has a bad cold and its best for her to stay in the warm until she gets a bit better,' Sayuri led Andraste into the living room.
'Take a seat please,' she motioned.
'Would you like something to drink?'

Lenachan358
Jacosa started to laugh as he saw Aini. She was a dragon, for sure. "You are dagon." He commented and rolled around in the snow laughing. "Nice dagon, though." The otter really liked the other one, she was a lot of fun.

Andraste smiled. "I should go an visit a doctor. You've got a nice house, nothing in comparison to our apartment." The woman sat down and looked around. "Coffee would be nice."

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini made a growling noise, running around in the snow, flapping her arms as she puffed out more 'smoke';
'Rar! Me big dagon..' she hopped from snow drift to snow drift, landing to 'devour the villagers'...

'Did your sickness just sort of start?' Sayuri asked gently, before smiling at the compliment.
'Thanks. How did you want your coffee? Milk, sugar?'

Lenachan358
Jacosa got onto his feet and looked at the dangerous dragon. "Me is night. Me will slay you !" He laughed and started to throw snow at the little girl.

"Yes, it just appeared. But I guess it will be gone in a few days." Andraste nodded gently. "Do you have many children ?"

As she was asked about the coffee she shook her head. "Nothing please, I like it black and pure."

Sayuri_Nitta
'Waaah!' wailed Aini and she fell backwards in the snow.
'Yoo gots dagon,' she giggled, her tail making patterns in the snow as she wiggled on the ground.

'Just the two,' Sayuri answered.
'Okay, I'll be right back,' and she left the living room, heading down the corridor and into the kitchen. Minutes later she returned, a tray in hand and placed it down. She put the mug of coffee, steam issuing from it, before Andraste before taking a seat herself and pouring tea from a daintily painted pot into a cup for herself. Arranged on a small plate were a variety of biscuits and Sayuri motioned to them.
'Help yourself.' she said, blowing on her tea before sipping it.

Lenachan358
Jacosa tried to horde quite a lot of snow on the fox's body and giggled madly. "You be snow-Aini !" He laughed happily and wiggled with his tail. The otter ran around in the snow and tried to pile up a snow mountain.

"More than enough, I guess." Andraste grinned. She was glad that she just had Jacosa, he was alright.
"Smells good, looks like you do good coffee." The woman really tried to be nice, although she usually didn't spend time with other mothers. "Thank you." She took a cookie and smiled. "How did you receive Aini ?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini spluttered as snow landed on her belly, and she wriggled under the wet weight of it.
'I no sno man!' she said, trying to sit up, snow sliding off her head and plopping down.

'Well yes,' Sayuri nodded.
'They are quite the handful.' she drank some more tea before putting her cup down.
'Aini? Well I'd heard about the Fourth Wall place from a friend, and when I went there they were taking applications for people who would be willing to adopt a child. And well I was chosen,' she smiled.

Lenachan358
Jacosa watched her for a while before helping her to push the snow off her body. "Wanna do sno mam ?" He had no idea what it was, but it sounded funny so he waited for the fox to start. The otter was a master of joining in, he knew that.

Andraste took a sip and smiled. "Sounds like a good way. You must be a very good mother if you were chosen." She ate a cookie and thought about Jacosa's arrival. "I hadn't planned it. I just went there and suddenly the otter appeared."

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini shook herself, the rest of the snow falling, leaving little crystals of frozen water that dotted her fur.
'Otay...' Aini pushed the snow with her hands, trying to pat it into a rounded mound.
'Sno go in a bumpy lump.' she said, as she dumped another handful on the misshapen 'body'.

'I hope I am.' Sayuri smiled.
'It's not a comfortable thought to think that your parenting skills might be wrong so I try not to think that way,' she chuckled.
'Really? But it had to have been a very pleasant surprise though right?'

Lenachan358
Jacosa blinked and it seemed like his brain needed some time to understand the process before joining in. "Bum-pie, lum-pie." He giggled and moved some snow on top of the body.

"I bet you are." Andraste nodded. "At first it was hell for me, to be precise. I'm not used to children, but...Jacosa is great. I'm not alone and that's good."

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini pushed more snow along, puffing with exertion.
'Make this hi-hi,' Aini made as a big an arch with her arms as she could reach.
'Put lumpy on top for hed.'

Sayuri nodded;
'Well it's good that you have someone to help you with him,' she smiled as she picked her cup up again, wondering if she should mention that Andraste's symptoms sounded like morning sickness!

Lenachan358
Jacosa managed to make a big ball-like snow lump and tried to carry it carefully. This one was heavy and he didn't wanted to destroy the things they had done so far. With a loud thud the snowball landed on the man, who became a bit smaller by doing so. Jacosa said nothing and just stared.

Andraste took a last sip out of her cup and looked around. "So you're dealing with two kids completely alone. That's amazing. If you want you can come over one day and Aini and Jacosa can play, so you have some free time." She smiled. It really had to be hard for the other one.

Sayuri_Nitta
'No-man splat,' Aini said, as she piled more snow on the two mis-shapen lumps. It was sort of looking like a snowman that had an encounter with a hairdryer.

'Well, you're never alone with you have kids, but yes.' Sayuri nodded.
'Sometimes it would be nice to offload them on someone and say 'That's it, you can deal for a while', but I do love them both.'
She smiled at Andraste;
'Well that's a nice offer, I'll probably take you up on that. I know Aini likes Jacosa, she keeps saying his name..well I think its what she is trying to articulate,' she chuckled.

Lenachan358
Jacosa laughed and tried to hoard up a lot of snow as quickly as possible. Of course it didn't work out right and the snow always fell down again. The otter snorted and looked for something else. "Need nose." He decided and desperately tried to find something resembling a nose. It had to be black, Aini's nose and his nose were black as well. Right ?

Andraste nodded. "Same with me. Sometimes I appear harsh and would like to just put him in a drawer...especially when he thinks about painting walls. But I would never do so, I guess." The woman grinned a bit embarrassed and moved through her hair in a nervous gesture.

"Sure, just call me whenever you wish. Jacosa loves to play. I think it's a great sign that he remembered Aini. They were both very young when they met first."

Sayuri_Nitta
' 'No-man need nos,' Aini echoed.
' 'No-man need carrot nos,' she said.
'I ask mama, you come wif?' Aini asked Jacosa.

Sayuri chuckled;
'Well at least you can't lose Jacosa up a tree,' she said, picking up a biscuit and nibbling the edge off it.
'Catta my other..child, is a lemur pooka. And she climbs up trees - and goes really high when she is sulking.'

Lenachan358
Aini really knew what snowmen needed. Jacosa agreed silently as he poked the lump. "Yea, yea. Your mommy can do ?" He smiled and waited for her to go into the house so he could follow. Another person's house was totally new to him.

"Indeed not. He prefers to swamp my bathroom." Andraste giggled slightly. "But it's getting better...slightly."
Checking her watch the other woman imagined how it would be to have two active children and frowned. "Wow, I guess that's pretty hard then. How do you get her down ?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini nodded, grabbing Jacosa's arm and tugging him towards the house;
'Mama hav carrot. 'no-man get nosey,' Aini said with confidence as she walked towards the front door.

Sayuri laughed;
'With a broom handle? Not really though,' she grinned, tilting her head towards the the shuttered window, listening to the sounds outside.
'Usually with a food bribe..she really loves banana's, so they tend to work best.'

Lenachan358
Jacosa embraced Aini slightly as she touched his arm and snuggled up to her for a moment of joy. After expressing his happiness he followed her towards the front and looked at the huge door with astonishment.

"Oh food bribe sounds like a good idea. Jacosa sadly doesn't care about bribes and just loves to...express himself. He gave me a wall painting for Christmas." Andraste didn't know if she was still angry about it or thought it was funny. So she just shrugged. "Did you meet many other Fourth Wallers yet ?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Aini wondered what that snuggle was about; wasnt that only what she did with her mama? But she was a toddler, and so couldnt wrap her brain around it enough to make a protest or comment and so she just tugged him along, pushing on the door which Sayuri had left on the latch. It slowly opened.
'Osa elp!' Aini squeaked as she shoved with all her toddler might against the door.

Sayuri smiled.
'Well I bet it was a mess, but it's just their way of expressing themselves which you can't really find fault with them for.' Sayuri shook her head.
'Apart from yourself, and Jade with the aggressive tiger boy? No others.'

Lenachan358
The otter looked at the door and as watched the fox pushing for a while, before he took action. He turned around so his bottom touched the door and started to lean against it while trying to push it open. "uuuh..."

"It indeed was a mess, I was shocked, but I couldn't even yell at him, because he was so happy." The woman sighed. "We met a few others. It's really interesting to see the different animals..err..children ?" She scratched her head as she heard some strange noise. "I think there's somebody at the door."

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri listened as well, finally hearing the slight creak of the front door.
'So there is,' she stood, drifting sedately out into her hallway. She pulled open the door slowly and Aini pinwheeled, before falling inside.

'Mama!' she squeaked from the floor, slowly scrambling upright again.
'Want carrot!'

Lenachan358
Andraste leaned forward a bit and watched the scene quite amused until she noticed Jacosa stomping into the house with wet boots. "No, Jac !" She called, but it was already too late, there were small puddles on the floor.

The otter was quite confused though and looked at Aini as if she knew the answer. "No car-ot ?

Sayuri_Nitta
'Oh don't worry about it,' Sayuri waved the mess away.
'It's no worse then what Aini does, and has done.'

Aini looked up at Sayuri;
'Wat I doned?' she pulled down on ear tip, her face looking lopsided as she wondered what naughty thing she might have done without realising it.
'No car-et?'

'And what do you want a carrot for?' Sayuri asked.

'Me n Osa made a 'no-man!' Aini said proudly.

'Oh a snowman huh? Well I think I might have one in the fridge. We'll look at your snowman when I get it ok?' she smiled at Andraste, walking off towards the kitchen. She was back shortly, the orangey vegetable in her hand.

'Car-ret!' Aini squeaked, wriggling excitedly and looking at Osa. Now their snowman would have a nose!

Lenachan358
Andraste sighed out of relief. Gladly Sayuri wasn't mad because Jacosa had made this mess. "Jacosa, you can't just go in and make the floor wet." She still told the otter, who stared at her in disbelieve.

The ottery eyes turned to his boots and he squeaked. "Sowwy. He was quickly distracted by the carrot though and clapped. "Yaaay." His tail flicked from side to side and he smiled.

"Less put on !" He demanded and waited for the parents and Aini to come.

"Yes, I think we should take a look at the 'masterpiece'. But sadly after doing so, we have to go. We still wanted to go shopping, remember Jacosa ?" The otter didn't listen though.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri smiled at the contrite otter, bending and giving Aini the carrot. She snatched it up with a 'nk yoo!' and ran back outside into the snow, waiting on the step for Jacosa, her tail and bottom wriggling.
'Okay,' Sayuri said, slipping her outside shoes on, and gathering up her kimono skirts.
'Well that's a shame, but I'm sure we'll see you both again soon,' Sayuri said as she followed the children.

Lenachan358
Jacosa followed Aini as quickly as possible for a little otter towards the snowman. He was very happy that he had found someone to play with. "Nose, nose, nose." The otter squealed and looked at the fox. This was a holy moment...the snowman would be alive !

Andraste nodded. "Oh yes, I'm quite sure. Jacosa loves to visit the fourth wall building." She smiled slightly and watched the two children in front of the snow lump.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri stifled a giggle at the squat, misshapen snowman that the children had made. It was an accomplishment after all, and it would do no good to laugh at their attempts; however humorous it looked.

Aini wobbled over to the snowman, the carrot held like a sword. She twirled it and then stuffed it into the packed snow that formed the 'head'.
''no-man have nose now,' she said, grinning at Jacosa.
'See mama?' she looked up at Sayuri.

'Oh yes,' Sayuri nodded.
'It's lovely...and before Andraste and Jacosa have to go,' she pulled a little disposable camera from her obi, having tucked it there before leaving the house.
'You two stand either side of the snowman,' she said, motioning to them both and Aini flicked her ears, and stood next to the two lumps with the carrot sticking from it.

Lenachan358
Andraste wasn't so good surpressing laughter and chuckled slightly. Luckily Jacosa didn't hear it, because he was too occupied with the magnificient nose.

"I-Knee, sooo good." He cheered and clapped his hands, although it sounded strange, because he was wearing gloves. The otter grinned at Andraste and Sayuri in a very proud manner.

"It's...special !" The woman smiled and the otter was satisfied. Sadly he feared the camera. His eyes grew wide as he saw the thing and shook his head. "Cameeha ?"

As he saw that Aini didn't fear it though he slowly moved next to the snow lump and grinned.

Sayuri_Nitta
'Mama all-ways does pickshures,' Aini whispered across the snowman at Jacosa.

'Okay now smile,' Sayuri crouched, her kimono skirts dropping into the snow. She saw that Jacosa looked a little hesitant, and she flicked off the flash; being outside she wouldnt need it and she didnt want to scare him. When she was sure she had them framed properly, she pushed the button, the camera clicking and whirring as the moment was frozen in time on the film.
'There, done,' Sayuri straightened again.
'I'll give you a copy when I take them in to be developed ok?' she smiled at Andraste.

(( I'll run up a drawing of them as the 'photo' =))

Lenachan358
(( Awesome biggrin Jacosa will get it framed and put it in his new room ))

Jacosa felt a bit more confident as he heard Aini's words. She had survived this more often then. Still he was insecure.

"When he had grown into a toddler, I wanted to take a photo and was scared by the flashlight." Andraste explained and sighed. The otter looked quite brave and she didn't need to fear that he would run off.
"It was a nice meeting. You're invited to visit us as well." The mother said as she motioned Jacosa to come towards her.

"Like yoo." Jacosa smiled and hugged the fox girl again before toddling towards his mother.

Sayuri_Nitta
'ike yoo too,' Aini said, giggling at the hug that Jacosa had given her.

'Thank you,' Sayuri smiled, motioning to Aini who toddled over and clutched onto Sayuri's kimono.
'It was good seeing you. Have a nice shopping trip,' she said, then looked down at Aini.
'Say goodbye sweetie.'
Aini took a thumb from her mouth and waved.
'Bai!'

Lenachan358
Jacosa's tail wiggled and he waved with his free hand.
Andraste nodded friendly and made one step forward as she noticed that the otter didn't intend to walk. "Come on, Jac." She grinned and seemed to wake the toddler from his trance.

"Byyeee!" He screamed as they followed the sidewalk and he waved until they were out of sight.

A Visit to the Fourth Wall HQ

Quote:

Sajhiri
The door of the office building was pushed open with a soft grunt as Sajhiri shouldered her way inside. She wasn't paying overly much attention to her surroundings, as her eyes were scanning over a piece of paper in her hands. The confusion caused by the note from Karma asking her to come to this address for a 'pickup' was written all over her face, from the furrowed brow to the pursed lips.

A pale face poked in the egress after she passed, a hand adjusting a pair of spectacles balanced on a non-human nose. Saedare called after Jhiri, "Do you want me to give Rebecca her bottle, mother?"

Sajhiri blinked and turned to look at the Aduthule woman and she nodded after a moment. "Oh, yeah sure, hon. I'd appreciate that. If she starts screaming, you can put her in the stroller and head around the block. You know how she hates the truck if it's not moving."

Saedare smiled and disappeared back outside where a large silver truck was parked.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri pushed open the door with one hand, the other supporting a just-walking Aini. Sayuri stooped as she entered the Fourth Wall office, watching Aini's faltering steps.
'Almost inside, you're doing really well,' she encouraged the fennec girl, who had the tip of her little pink tongue protruding from her mouth as she concentrated.
'There!' she said, swinging Aini up in the air as they went inside proper to the large waiting area. Sayuri rested Aini on her hip, and the toddler played with the collar of Sayuri's kimono.
'Oh hello,' Sayuri nodded at the other woman there.

Youkochylde
Another pair entered into the shop a moment later, Youko glad that at least this time he didn't have to grab Kaeru by the collar to make him stop and shuck off his coat and shoes. The boy seemed to be used to this routine by now... although he still hadn't gotten used to putting them in the right place. Instead, he left coat and shoes in a heap before springing into the main waiting area and immediately diving INTO the toybox that waited on the other side.

"BANZAIIIIIIIIII!!!" he screeched, sending plushies in a spray around the box as Youko winced and picked up the boy's shed clothing.

karma_k
Somewhere within the depths of the Fourth Wall building, there was the sound of a door opening and then closing.

Karma came to the conclusion that she was getting to the point where she was, as much as she hated to say it, getting too old to pull all-nighters constantly. But the paperwork was all in order, the phone calls had been made, the eggs had all been checked, and now, she decided, she was going home to take a nap before starting all over again.

The foxcoon slunk down the hallway toward the waiting area, one ear lopped over in exhaustion and the dark rings under her eyes hidden by her mask. As she drew near, however, the sounds of voices caught her ear.

...visitors. Crap. Quickly, she veered off into the bathroom, cracking the tap and splashing her face with cold water in an effort to jolt herself awake. It worked....sort of. It was enough to bring her back to alertness, at least. Too much water, and she'd look like a drowned rat.

Pausing to towel the beads of cold water out of her fur, she headed back out to the waiting area to greet the people.

Lenachan358
Andraste petted her belly and stared at the little otter, who was rubbing his nose in a strange manner. "I feeeel...people." He said and pushed one strand of his black hair out of his face to see better.
The mother didn't dare to mention that this feeling could be a result of seeing people enter the building, so she just kept silent.

Jacosa was wearing a funny new pocket, which was yellow and fuzzy and was much too girly for Andraste's likings. He loved it though and there were some crayons and paper inside.

They entered the building and the otter grinned. "Said people are here. HEYO !" He screamed and suddenly noticed that some of them were even familiar.

Sayuri_Nitta

Sayuri laughed as the frog-boy did a rather interesting dive into the toybox.
'I give that an 8.6,' she joked as Aini squirmed in her arms. She turned as someone else entered and smiled.
'Andraste,' she called, and Aini squirmed to get down even more.
'Osa!!'

Zero Dream

And, unaware of the other presents, Zero was slowly making her way torward the center on foot, with Ronen carefuly nested in his coat and on her shoulders, which probabely was a fact that no other would be able to reproduce, since, well... Ronen was not exactly a feather.

The plan was to go see Karma... to chat a bit and show her that Ronen was doing well, and then go catch a bit to eat. The reploid had spotted a vegetarian restaurant which would probably fit the dinosaur's tastes to perfection, and the loss of one meal worth of meat wouldn't kill her.

Sajhiri
Sajhiri moved to the front desk where she signed in. Sayuri's hello made her turn in surprise. "Say?" she asked in surprise. She'd not seen Sayuri since dropping a few rambunctious gargoyles into her lap around the holidays. "You have some idea what...this...place..." her words trailed off as she lookd down at the little fox walking on it's hind legs. She was no stranger to anthros, but babies made her doubletake at their cuteness.

The Banzaii-ing Kaeru made Jhiri jump before she chuckled and looked towards Youko. "Long time, no see, my friend. Is that little fellow yours?" The addition of the otterling and Andraste made Sajhiri's brow further furrow. "I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Are all these kiddos from this place?"

Youkochylde

Youko snickered, moving to hug Sajhiri lightly as he nodded. "Yep, the hellion in the box is mine. His name's Kaeru and yes, he came from this place. Karma brought him to me just before my birthday this past summer." He stepped back then, lifting a brow as he let a grin spread across his face. "And I'm guessing that if you're here, you're about to get one too. Congratulations!"

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri finally let Aini down again as she was starting to make small whining noises, and Sayuri knew that if she didnt get her way she would dissolve into a screaming tantrum.
'Ok,' she said, as she placed her on the floor.
'Just don't n** anyone,' she scolded, as the fennec toddled towards Kaeru in the toybox, occasionally falling back with a small bump onto her furry tail.
'Yes, congratulations,' Sayuri smiled at Saj, casting glances at Aini.

karma_k
At last, Karma arrived in the waiting area, smiling and doing her best to be pleasant as she scanned the people who had arrived, recognizing most but not all. Her eyes fell on the dark-haired woman whom Sayuri and Youko were speaking with and she racked her brain.

She'd made an appointment with someone today amid all of her phone calling and filing. It was fortunate they had all shown up when they had, or she likely would have forgotten about it completely and gone home to zonk out, leaving the poor lady in the lurch. Maybe investing in a planner might not be a bad idea...

Crossing the waiting area, being careful not to step on small tails, flippers, hands, and the like, she approached.

"Sajhiri?" she tried amiably. If it wasn't her, the worst she could do was fix her with a strange look and say no, after all...

Lenachan358
Before Andraste was able to even greet somebody, Jacosa had already spotted the fennec fox and squealed. "I-Knee !" He toddled towards her quickly and almost pushed his pocket onto her nose. She so had to see and like it. "Lookit !"
Of course he had also noticed that the cool flying frog guy was there and...there was someone else as well. Someone blue. He stared at the boy for a moment.

Andraste blinked and then waved at Sayuri and Youko. She knew those two. For a moment she turned to her belly and then decided to walk towards the other grown-ups. "Hello." The woman greeted and smiled slightly. "Looks like everyone had the same idea." A chuckle escaped her lips as she saw Sajhiri. Another victim.

Zero Dream
And it was at that moment that the blue-haired woman entered the door, and her eyes whidened a bit.

"Well, who-ah." She commented, clearly having not expected to see so many people here. Maybe it would be better to come back later, but Ronen had been looking forward to this... Beside, there seemed to have plenty of kids his age.

"Allright, down weee goooo~~" Zero ducked down, and Ronen gave a surprised yelp at first, but it quickly turned to a little giggle and squees of delight as she disloged the dinosaur boy from her shoulders and helped him take off his coat. "Stop wriggeling, cutie, or ill't take longer."

He pouted a bit, but compeled, his tail waving back and forth calmly until he finally was free, and rushed to the otter boy. "Hi !"

Sajhiri
Sajhiri's jawdrop was Stooges-worthy in its comedic potential. Youko and Sayuri's indication that she was here to get a baby left her gobsmacked. After a moment or two she managed to shake off the shock. "You're sure? I mean...well I wouldn't mind another little one around the house. With the rest of the Menagerie all grown up, Rebecca could really use another little one to play with." She glanced out the window to make sure her biological daughter wasn't making her adopted daughter's life a living hell inside the truck. Seeing all was in order, she scanned around the room quickly filling with little ones. "Where in the world do they come from, though? Is there a part of Gaia that evolved differently? Or are they from somewhere else? They're so darling!"

At Karma's address, Sajhiri turned to the foxcoon and smiled. "Um, yes, that's me. I received a message to come here for a pickup?" She looked a little confused, but a bit excited at the prospect as well.

Youkochylde
Youko stepped back to let Sajhiri talk to Karma on her own, the grin not fading in the slightest as he fully recognized that 'poleaxed' look. He knew it intimately, it was the same look he'd had when presented with Kaeru. Speaking of Kaeru... He turned then, eyes widening as he darted towards the boy. "NO!"

Kaeru stopped dead, mouth open as he paused in his attempt to catch a fly that was buzzing against the window. It had just been SITTING there, and obviously it didn't have a long life expectancy. "WHAT? I was just gonna taste it..."

"No eating bugs outside the house," Youko reminded him, sighing inwardly. It was bad enough he liked to gross out his sisters by munching on bugs. He didn't need to worry about what the boy was flicking up with his tongue everywhere ELSE.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri nodded, then noticed the blue haired woman and gave a small nod and a wave in her direction, chuckling at the child she had entered with. So many children! She hoped that none of them started the other's crying, she didnt think she was quite up for that level of noise.
'Hi Andraste,' she raised an eyebrow.
'Well you're looking...fuller then last time I saw you,' she said, a slightly triumphant look on her face. She had been right in her thinking that Jacosa's mother was pregnant.

Aini watched, eyes round at Kaeru.
'Yoo eats flys?' she asked, radiating awe (well as much awe as a toddler could).
'Mama say I cant eats wrigglies,' she complained, as Jacosa came over.
'Lookit wat?' she flicked her ears at the otter boy.

karma_k
Karma's smile widened a notch at the response she recieved and nodded. "Yes, follow me please?" she asked, beckoning Sajhiri to come with her as she left the waiting area and headed to the left, down the hallway.

She made a mental note to herself that what she really needed to do was get some new toys for the waiting room. The kids were getting bigger every time she saw them and one toychest with a few odds and ends was not going to cut it very soon.

Lenachan358
Jacosa huffed as Aini didn't recognise the most marvellous bag/pocket/carry-around-thing ever. He was just about to speak as the blue one came over. Was he a dog ? No...doggies had fur. A brown paw scratched the small one's head before he started to smile. "I Cosa, that I-Knee. You ?"

Quickly he opened and closed the plush pocket to show Aini how great it is and that everybody was supposed to like it. As he noticed Kaeru though, he was quite amazed. "How does taste ?"

Andraste blushed and nodded slightly. "Yes, I am..." It took her while to say the word. "Pregnant." She grinned and looked at her feet. "Jacosa will get a sibling quite soon."

Zero Dream
"Ronen." He answered, pointing at himself, his nose wriggeling a bit at the thought of eating bugs. Bugs weren't for eating, ewwww...

He didn't comment on that, however, as he plopped sitting on the ground, and mimiced Jacosa's movement with a giggle, then peered as he worked with the pocket, visibely more than a bit interested in the sound it made.

Zero decided it was better to keep herself sillent, at least until Karma was done with the other woman, and simpely sat nearby.

Sajhiri
Sajhiri gave Sayuri and Youko a little wave, her eyes lighting up, before she turned to follow the proprietor down the hall. The seraph wrung her hands a bit in anticipation, feeling her heart pound. "This is really interesting. I hadn't really thought about another baby, but now that I think about it, my daughter really needs another little one to play with, and I miss having a pile of youngins about. I'm happiest taking care of babies."

She smiled warmly, her eyes flitting about curiously as they passed the doors.

nozomi_ga_kanau
After last nights (almost) catastrophe with fanged women and not-babified children, Akilah had demanded to go back. His demanding consisted of screaming and screeching out 'FOOF' and 'FWINE' until Patricks ears started to bleed...so why the hell not?

Not like he had...y'know. Other kids to take care of. Or a job. heaven freaking forbid.

Still. The kid was contented, riding on his fathers shoulders, hands tugging at his hair like a rider would a favorite (albiet psycho) horse.

"Eeee~" The meerkat squealed when Patrick pushed open the Fourth Walls door, pain written on his brightly pierced features. "Eee! Fwoof! Fwine! Churrrr~"

Sound affects were cute. The psycho clutching meerkat? Not so much. "Yes, Akilah. We're here." And in an animal house it appeared! Look at all the kiddlets and peoples and and and...so many.

karma_k
"I'm glad to hear it." the foxcoon replied just as warmly as Sajhiri's smile. "Its always nice knowing the children are going to good homes. I always worry that there'll be a time that one will come through and have no takers..."

Karma paused at the third door on the left, turning the knob gently and pausing to look over her shoulder at the dark-haired seraph, lowering her voice a bit.

"So far, this one seems really cooperative. He came through the rift and went right to sleep. I called you right after getting him settled in one of the cribs, since you didn't list a particular preference on species. He was still napping last I looked" Saying so, she eased open the door slowly so that she wouldn't startle the little angel inside.

The 'little angel' however, seemed to be wide awake and busily gnawing on the corner of the powder-blue blanket Karma had tucked around him the last time she'd been in to check on him and still found him snoozing. He'd apparantly been working hard at it, too...the fibers were frayed and soggy and the little silver lamb didn't even look up as the two women entered.

Youkochylde
"They're good," Kaeru whispered, sidelong to Aini and Jacosa as soon as Youko's attention was elsewhere. He WAS a frog, after all.. and frogs ate bugs. HE liked them. As he watched Youko walk away, he waited until the fox's back was turned, then let his tongue zing out, catching the unsuspecting fly and reeling it in again almost as quickly. It was an instantaneous reaction, and within a span of a second, he was sitting there in the toybox again as if nothing at all had happened.

Sajhiri
Sajhiri tiptoed in behind Karma, expecting a snoozing baby, and instead found herself staring down at a wide awake ball of fluffy wool. She blinked, both brows heading ceiling-ward, at the mess in the crib and the cause of it. "Looks like I'll need to stock up on chew-resistent teething items, eh?"

She leaned over to scritch the little fellow under the chin. "Just look at you. A little silver lamb! No doubt you'll be a big silver ram some day!" She chuckled then looked ponderous as she glanced back towards the hall. "Just like my truck...a big silver Dodge Ram. Oh!"

She laughed out loud and looked to Karma. "That's what I'll call him...Dodge! He goes through blankets like my truck goes through gas. It's kind of fitting," she grinned.

Sayuri_Nitta
'Congratulations!' Sayuri squealed, actually hugging Andraste.
'I did kind of suspect from what you were saying last time we met, but wasnt sure how to tell you.' she smiled, letting the woman go.

Unfortunately for Jacosa, the pocket thing that he was trying to show her was eclipsed for Aini by what Kaeru did next.
''gain, gain!' she clapped, wriggling around on her bottom, her tail wriggling excitedly.
'Do it 'gain!'

karma_k
A tension seemed to pass out of the foxcoon at Sajhiri's positive reaction to the youngling and she gently reached into the crib, shooing the corner of the blanket out of Dodge's mouth. Before he could protest, she'd picked him up, taking a quick peek into the leg of his diaper to make sure he was not in need of a changing, and then offered him to his new mother.

"You want to go say hi?" she goaded the little lamb. They could worry about paperwork another time. She had Sajhiri's contact information, after all, and the papers could be completed by mail just as easily as they could be filled out in the office.

Lenachan358
"Ronen. Nice ta meetcho." The otter grinned and his tail flicked from side to side. This one looked nice, but he had some bad things on his back. "Ouch...how did get that ?" An extended finger pointed on the almost spiky things.

Eyes turned back to Aini for a moment and he pouted. She wasn't even interested in his famous bag...A slurping sound was heard from Kaeru's direction and Jacosa turned towards him. The fly was gone. That was a really cool thing to do, but the otter knew that his tongue wasn't able to do it. First he could fly and now he could eat flies...life was unfair.

So he decided to sit down beside Ronen and showed the pocket to him. "Wanna try ?"

His ears perked up though as he heard a familiar chirr. Dark otter eyes looked for the source. Today was best friend day !

Sajhiri
Sajhiri's expression melted into a motherly smitteness. She just could never resist the little ones. The flood of Menagerie members was a testament to that. Her tower was filled with beings of every shape, size and species.

She reached out to take the little lamb into her arms, and cradled him gently to her. "Aren't you the handsomest little lamb ever?" she cooed to him. "Hi Dodge, I'm here to take care of you."

The lamb looked up at her, wide-eyed for a moment, until the compliment about his utter cuteness. that seemed to make him comfortable and happy, and he merrily began chewing on a lock of Jhiri's hair.

Zero Dream
((Oh yeah, on that, Karma... >_>;;; Permision to throw a form your way sometime soon ?))

Ronen perked a bit, just fast enough to see Kaeru's tongue zoom right on the poor unsuspecting fly, and see it retract as quickly as it zoomed.

...And while the idea of eating flies was still gross to him, Kaeru's mighty tongue-fu impressed him indeed.

"How you do that ?!?" He asked, surprise apparent. "Was aw-som !"

Then his attention turned back to Jacosa, who had just spoken, his tail still wagging, but slower, out of instinctive caution and Zero's learning that he might hurt someone with the spikes on it. The spines on his back weren't that much of an issue... they couldn't pierce or cut. The dinosaur boy gave it some thought for a moment before answering. "Always had tat." He admitted, visibely not really having thought about it before. "Like you have tat." He pointed at his fur, visibely trying to draw a parallel. "And me don't."

...It made sence in his mind, at least.

But then, he forgot all about it when he was presented the pocket. "Sur !"

karma_k
Karma stood silently, watching the two of them with a satisfied smile. This was, without a doubt, her favorite part of this occupation -- watching new families begin.

After a short time, she spoke.

"If you need supplies or anything, I have them in the supply closet" she offered. The seraph had already mentioned her love of babies, but it never hurt to make sure that a parent was well-stocked. Her supplies might not have been top of the line since she purchased them in bulk, but there were plenty to go around.

nozomi_ga_kanau
The minute he saw Jacosa, the little meerkat squealed, bouncing more, chirruping and churrings wildly. Patrick could only wince, reaching up and trying to pull him down once again.

"A-Akilah! Stop!"

"Eee!" He squealed, letting himself be taken down from his high perch. While the fly-snapping thing caught the little furry things attention, he wasn't the one who had petted his belly before! Small paws reached out for Jacosa, flexing and squeaking more, writhing to try and free himself from bejewled hands.

Akilah couldn't walk, but he could wriggle! And...drag and stuff..

Sajhiri
Dodge's eyelids drooped sleepily. He opened his toothy maw to yawn loudly, letting out a little contented bleat before snuggling against Sajhiri for a nap. His little ears flicked back and forth, as if still following the sounds of conversation, perking whenever his new name was mentioned.

"Little Dodge, he's adorable, Karma. Thank you so much!" Sajhiri paused, peering at the foxcoon curiously for a few moments. There was a strange sensation she got from close vicinity to the woman. Something she usually felt in Tir Nan Og. Perhaps this was a kithain? But she'd not found a bloodline leading to her in her research yet. She'd have to look into that when she got home. "I think I should have most of what I need but ah...what would be best to feed him. Does he eat human food or would he prefer...ah..wheatgrass smoothies or something?"

karma_k
Karma blinked, watching the other woman stare at her for a few moments. She managed to keep herself from squirming, but felt a bit uncomfortable as she wondered what it was that was stare-worthy. Had she forgotten to brush her hair? Had she sneezed on herself again?

...and just like that the conversation, blessedly, resumed once more.

"Its mostly a trial-and-error thing." the foxcoon explained. "Some of the kids prefer 'people' food, and others stick to what you'd expect them to eat. I'd definitely plan to keep him on a vegetarian diet, though."

Her eyes fell on the sleeping lamb as she spoke. He really WAS a cutie. Then again, after the traumatizing experience of having Angellica arrive late at night, every baby that had come through the rift since had seemed like the most adorable thing in the world by comparison.

Quinny-chan
Quinn felt a little guilty for leaving Moss with the sitter, but neither he, nor Belen, seemed to mind very much and she thought it beneficial that the pair socialize without the other every once in a while. So, armed with a spray bottle, some lotion, nebulizers and Belen's travel bowl, she had brought the Axolotl to the center to play and to perhaps check with Karma to make sure his breathing treatments were progressing as they should.

Not bothering to knock this time, she swung the door wide, chirped a fond hello and sat Belen on the ground, cautioning him to be wary of the others. Wouldnt want him to get stepped on simply from lack of attention.

Strong swimming legs allowed him to toddle slowly, even though he wasn't quite old enough to be able to do so. It gave Moss fits, watching his younger brother walk when all he could do was crawl behind. Such was sibling rivalry, she supposed.

She took a seat on one of the plump couches, eagle eyes trained on her diminuative, yet very independant son.

Sajhiri
((poor angler fish. The stuff of anthro nightmares!))

Dodge's jaw worked in his sleep, rocking in a circular motion as he chewed his cud instinctively.

Sajhiri smoothed his ears back and smiled warmly. "Vegetarian, got it. I guess lambs drink milk just like human babies, so it should be ok for a while to go that way."

She gazed on her latest addition lovingly. "I know the perfect room for him. I think he'll love it."

Youkochylde

"Kaeru!"

The boy wilted slightly when he realised he'd been caught fly-catching again. Dammit, this was so unfair. "But I was hungry!" he wailed, throwing one of the toys in a fit of anger.

"Then we'll go home and get you something to eat," Youko replied, moving to scoop him up before he could start a full-out tantrum. "And a NAP," he admonished, ignoring the protests of the frog as he set the boy down and swatted him lightly on the behind to get him moving towards the coats. He waved to those he knew, and pulled his own coat on, helping Kaeru as well.

It was amazing to him that children moved 10 times SLOWER when they were whimpering.

karma_k
Karma was about to say something and, instead, stifled a yawn that had come out of nowhere.

"Excuse me." she said, somewhat embarrassed. "I've been up since about this time yesterday and I was on my way out when everyone came in. If I'm going to drive myself home without nodding off, I'd probably better do it soon."

She reached out, gently tickling one of the twitching silver ears. "If you like, I can send you home with the paperwork, or I'll mail it to you...whichever is easier for you. There's no rush to get him into the records as long as it gets done."

Actually, she liked to get everybody into the records as quickly as possible since it was less to have to do later, but she didn't want to create an air of urgency and turn something so lovely into something so....official.

Sajhiri
Sajhiri smiled. "I can bring the paperwork home with me. Not a problem. I'll get it back to you ASAP. Thank you again, Karma. Go get some rest."

She slipped back out of the room and back towards the waiting room with her brand new bundle of...er...wool...in her arms.

Sayuri_Nitta

Aini watched as Kaeru was taken away by the mean man - who she poked her tongue out at. Well now what would she do? She sidled over to the Jacosa and patted him on the shoulder.
'Osa,' she said, looking at the dinosaur boy with him.
'oo dat?'

'Hows it going anyways?' Sayuri asked, motioning at Andraste's growing bump.

karma_k
Karma watched her go and then exited the now-empty nursery to head for her back office. There was no fumbling for the papers this time as she'd learned after about the fourth or fifth adoption that it was in her best interest to sacrifice an entire afternoon making all of the adoption papers into stapled packets.

Grabbing one of said packets out of the wire basket in the corner of her desk, she headed out into the waiting area. Placing the packet on the edge of the counter where it would be easily-noticed, but out of reach of the playing children, she quietly grabbed up her coat and slipped out.

Yeah, no more all-nighters...

Lenachan358
Andraste smiled slightly. "It's not so easy, because I can't go to work anymore, but the father...Ranjit...he's living with us now. I'm a bit afraid of the birth though."

Jacosa waved to Kaeru as he left, but wasn't too sad about it. Now Aini had come back to play !

He looked at his fur while listening to Ronen and it took him a while to understand the boy's words. "Cool." It was alright, not everybody had fur and not everybody spikes, right ?

"Is Ronen." The otter explained to the fennec fox and motioned her to sit down with them.

His eyes were sparkling as he noticed Akilah and smiled. "Keela ! Can I hold ?" He really wanted to show his 'little brother' to the others. The otter knew about babies and everyone should know. "I get baby siblin." He stated proudly.

Phew...finally it started to became exhausting. Didn't he know that one was well ? His eyes darted towards Belen and he waved.

Zero Dream
Ronen simpely nodded in confirmation and smilled at Aini. He was a bit sad that Kaeru had to go... but what could he do ? He could always see him again later !

It took alot to keep this one down, it seemed.

"Baby sibilin ?" Ronen tilted his head and blinked. Being the youngest, he had no smaller sibilings... more older sibilings you could shake a stick at, but younger ? Nope. So the thought confused him a bit.

nozomi_ga_kanau
"Here there, 'Cosa," Patrick chirrup gratefully when he moved towards teh otter and the little dinosaur. The fish-like Fourth waller was seen with wide eyes but he carefully manuvered so he could in NO WAY step on him - Patrick is a wee bit paranoid with child safety. "I think Akilah wants to see you again."

Indeed, he did. As soon as they were close enough, he wriggled until he was put down and crawled his happy way over to Jacosa. Clingage commenced, wide black eyes peeking at Ronen as the small 'rat' chittered.

"You have a baby sibling? Really? Where?"

Sajhiri
Sajhiri moved to the door of the office and she opened it to wave to Saedare outside. "Can you get Naeva's old infant seat out of the back of the truck, love, and set it up? We're bringing home another little one!" Saedare looked surprised, but did as was requested.

Sajhiri picked up the papers from the counter and she settled onto one of the couches to put them in her bag and still balance the sleeping lamb in her arms. She gave a quiet smile to the other 'parents' in the room.

Quinny-chan
Belen toddled on his hind legs slowly, before dropping down to scuttle about on all fours. He walked suprisingly well for one meant to never leave the water and though he still wheezed from time to time, it didnt sound quite as severe as it had.

He made his way over to Jocasa, climbing onto his tail. He remembered playing with the tail in his bowl and he remembered that the Otter liked water, just like he did.

He grabbed on and made his version of the purring noise Makana made when she was happy. It was a good noise and he liked how rumbley it made him feel.

Sayuri_Nitta
'You'll be fine, you have support and that's the most important thing,' she glanced at the wall-clock and sighed.
'Well I am sorry to have to go so soon, but I left Catta with my neighbour and the poor woman is only so patient.' Sayuri smiled thinly.
'It was nice to see you again.'
She went over, and picked Aini up, who was just about to go over to Ronen and poke his spikes to see what they felt like.
'No! No!' the fennec toddler yelled, squirming for all she was worth.
'Osa!' she wailed, as Sayuri managed to hold her still.
'You...can..see him soon,' Sayuri said, avoiding flailing limbs and a tail.

Lenachan358
"Remember, we've been here before ?" Andraste asked as they stood in front of Sayuri's house and she gently pushed the otter towards the entrance.

The otter was carrying a little piece of jewelry. He was awfully proud to carry such a precious present and gently put it down in front of the door. Jacosa looked at Andraste who just nodded and moved onto his toes to ring the bell. As quickly as possible he moved back towards his mother and they went away.

A small paper on which wobbly letters were written was attached.

From Jacosa

HaLLo Aiiini.

Tis is foa you. Petty liek you.

Journal entry;

We got back from food shopping today to find that a lovely little gift had been left for Aini from Jacosa. Its a pretty bracelet, with sparkling gems. Catta and Aini had a wrestling match over it which resulted in tears, and I need to go speak to my pooka girl after I've jotted this down.
I have told Aini however that she cannot wear the bracelet until she's old enough to appreciate it ie: not to bang things with it, or chew on it. There was some pouting after I told her that as well, so now I have one sulking child and one crying child. It is going to be a fun evening I can tell.
Now would be a good time as any I think for Aini to work on her writing more. She can write a 'thank you' note for little Jacosa. Yes, I think that might help the sulks.

Sayuri hummed a tune as she wandered down the hallway, tabi covered feet making a light noise on the tatami matting. She knocked on the wood of the sliding door before opening it and walking into Aini's room.
'Wakey wakey sleepyhead,' she called as she pulled open the curtains and opened the shuttered windows, letting the spring air in.
'Don wanna,' came the reply from under the bundle of bedsheets. A tail tip peeked from the covers, and Sayuri tweaked it after walking over.
'Well you have to if you want to go to the park, it's a nice day, and you remember I said we would go if it was a sunny day.'
'Yaaaay the park!' Aini sat upright, the covers falling from her and Sayuri jumped up as though someone had pressed a hot coal to her foot.
'A..aini!' she stammered, looking with round eyes and open mouth at the girl. She had seemingly sprouted like a weed overnight, her tail longer, her limbs lengthened.
'What Mamma?' Aini asked, her words clearer and more pronounced then before.
'Go look..' Sayuri fanned herself with a hand, still a little shaky from the surprising growth spurt, then pointed at the full sized mirror that was against one wall in Aini's room.
'Umm kay..' Aini's ears swivelled, her head cocking at Sayuri's behaviour but she slid off the bed, tugging at her jammies that somehow seemed tighter on her fur. At the mirror she stopped, one foot in the air, then placed it carefully down before poking the reflective surface. It had to be a joke right? She had grown again! She bounced on stronger legs, whipping her fuzzy tail behind her as she did so.
'I grewed!' she squealed, running over to her bed and scrambling on it to bounce some more.
'Yes, yes you did,' Sayuri had recovered from her shock and grabbed the fennec girl, tickling her sides.
'No no tickles!' squealed Aini wriggling out from Sayuri's grip, scurrying away.
'Can't catch me..' she poked her tongue out.
'I don't have to. If you don't get back here and get dressed you won't be going anywhere today.' Sayuri made Aini's bed as she spoke, flipping the pillows and sheets to air them. Aini huffed but went over to the dresser, pulling out clothes and getting dressed. Sayuri picked up the discarded pajamas, well they would do for Catta now. She frowned a little; this little development would not go down well with the lemur toddler who resented when Aini grew faster then she did. And sure enough...Aini had run downstairs to get breakfast and she could hear squabbling noises already. Sayuri sighed and headed downstairs to put out the fire.
