Okay, this was awkward, and he really wished he could have bolted when he had the chance. Damn sprain. Squirming in place, he looked around and gave a little, queasy, nervous smile and then frowned, fiddling with his fingers as he tried to ...explain. She certainly was insistent, and it didn't look as if he was going to be getting up just yet.
So how to say this as delicately as possible?
He licked his lips, attempting to simplify the big problem that was his basic instincts. "Well...I sorta....kinda....wanted to maybe drown you. Just a little tiny bit." A pair of fingers measured that small bit of desire when in actuality it had been a big force driving him to want to shove Sin into the lake. "...I kinda....get that way a little...........when I'm near people and water............." He continued to wiggle his fingers, avoiding eye contact. My, what lovely scenery. Do-de-do-de-do.
He bit his lip. "I mean....it wasn't like I could, so you were pretty safe. Yeah?" Then again, he could recall holding her a little too tightly and guarding her towel. If it wasn't for the slap, he might have been just shoving her over and over again until he got his way.

Sin had been joking about the drowning thing but her eyes widened when Calder confessed that had actually been his desire. She frowned and looked ready to hit him again until she noticed how bad he seemed to feel. He was avoiding eye contact and he looked pretty upset. She slowly placed her fist at her side and flicked her damp hair back.
"You were getting pretty forceful, this happens a lot? Calder you need to get this under control...what if...well I wouldn't have gone down easily but I'm NOT a water demon, I COULD have been drowned. Theres a lot of water and a lot of students at this school and if you want to stay here...you have to learn to control yourself. You like possessed!" She frowned and then looked at his leg. "Did you trip and hurt your ankle or something?"

It wasn't a new lecture, and one he was hearing a lot more during his first semester from everyone he knew. His ears dropped down, and he gave a few nods in a 'I know. I know.' fashion, and then when she pointed out his leg, he went on high alert. "Oh, uh, that. I just tripped. It's nothing. I'm good." He was NOT a lame horse, and he had been hiding that injury for a little over a week now. He was not going to let her catch on.
He still wasn't feeling right with being here, but if it was one thing he did learn, it was sticking around to take your punishment when you deserved it. "I'm sorry about that. It's just...you and the water. I get like that a lot when people are near it. It's not all my fault. It's a kelpie thing. I'm trying!" It was a kelpie thing to a point. Then he had to learn self control. His parents had a long talk with him over the phone about this. "And I already got in trouble anyways. I can't even go 2 whole feet near water anymore because of my pin." He pointed at his head. "...or else I get sent to the nurse's office, and it's not fun at all. I haven't gone swimming in weeks! Do you know what' that is even like for me, Sin?! It's torture! I can't help it if it just seemed like a really good idea. This is the first time I've even been around so many people who didn't know how to even swim. What is even UP with that?!" He couldn't even understand people not swimming. It was crazy!

"Calder I barely touched you and you went down, your leg must be pretty bad...didn't your date step on it or something at the dance?" She tried to remember, but the dance seemed far away now. Her emotions had been tangled since that night. That was why she was out here, she had been swimming to clear her mind.
She listened to him go on and frowned "Trying isn't good enough when peoples lives are at stake. You need to practice some self control Calder! So what if you got in trouble, you won't know what trouble really is until you accidentally loose it and drown someone and have to suffer REAL consequences!" She eased up a bit and lowered her voice, he felt bad, and he was suffering already.
"So you can't even get in the water? Wouldn't it be nice if you could control yourself? You could swim and be around others...and not be a threat. You need to figure out how to snap yourself out of it...besides having someone slap you." She shook her head a few drops of water flicking from her hair onto him.

If Sin wasn't noticing it soon enough, she would soon get how stubborn and moronic Calder could be. He tucked his leg a little closer, ignoring whatever throbbing and sharp prickles clearly told him something was up. "Colette was a light dancer. It's not even bad. I can still walk, and that's not the point. How can I even practice when no one wants to be around me? I don't - " He closed his lips a moment, looking to the side. " - I don't have a lot of friends, Sin. What few I have won't want to help, and I don't want to loose any if they get angry with me when I do try and drown them. Then I won't have any friends. ..........and I don't like that." He knew what being alone felt like, and he was trying really hard just to keep what few people he knew talking to him. "People hate me enough for getting in trouble over this sort of thing last time. I thought it was better if I just go and admire the water by myself where I couldn't hurt anyone." His eyes dropped and he looked at the little beads of water on his kilt. How cool it was. He really missed swimming and being submersed in water.
".......I guess I was wrong." He looked up at her. "......I don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt people." He hurt enough people as it was. Good people, like Christof.

You can still walk for now...she thought with a frown, he'd regret it when his leg caved. Still she couldn't FORCE him to see reason, as much as she'd have liked too and he had other issues. "Look...we're not exactly friends...but...I need to start making some marks, if you know what I mean...and I could promise not to use it on you if you promised not to ever actually drown me. Then we'd both have a sort of...fail-safe and I could get in the water and start helping you with this...issue. We could practice until you can keep yourself in control."
She looked at him uncertain if he'd take the deal, he was in need after all, but demon marks weren't something anyone took lightly...except maybe Christof. She thought of her Raven for a moment, what would he say about her exploiting someone in need? What would he say about her offering herself up as a drowning victim? Nothing! He wouldn't say anything she reminded herself harshly, Raven didn't exist it had been a cruel joke of some-sort. She turned back to Calder her eyes brighter now, determined to make a deal no matter what. "Well? You do NEED help, and I'm probably the only willing victim your likely to find."

Another mark?! He gaped at her, clearly against the idea. He already HAD a mark. Having one from Barth nearly killed him considering he was against any sort of contract, but he had been in need, and he had wanted to do something amazing for his friend. Seeing as he didn't have the cash, he offered to do a small service for the demon. He assured himself that it was tempoarary, but he always had mixed feelings and regret when he saw the mark on the back of his neck. Another one just made him feel ill. What a hyprocrite he was becoming if he got ANOTHER mark. He was so against masters and mistresses, but he was becoming some sick little worker for all of them. What would his parents think of him?
Ears down, he considered the offer. In the end, he had no one to help. Everyone else was busy or he cared too much for them to hurt them. In fact, very few even talked to him about his punishment, and he had no help. He had been on his own and as the way that was going, he would forever be stuck with the pin and suffering with out water. In the end......no one really seemed to have cared he had been without a good swim. Yaya did, but she was occupied and they weren't really that close. He really needed the help, badly. And, if he got control, then maybe people would like him again. Maybe he'd get more friends. He so wanted to be liked.
He looked up. "How long? How long would I have the mark?"

"Generally their...permanent...but for you I'll make an exception...if you remember that it was done for...friendships sake. You seem like you mean well after all...the mark is just a precaution to ensure no one really gets hurt. After all this is a bit risky...the mark will be gone once you can get back in the water with the self control not to drown any staff or students." She obviously knew how to word things the way she wanted, she made her offer seem all too friendly and simple. Yet the darkness she had seen in Calder's eyes...she knew the mark would be there for a while until he learned some self control.
She held out her hand to him, but she didn't offer the false alluring smile she might have, this was a different type of contract. "I promise all you have to do for me is learn to control the drowning desire...and in turn I'll be the drowning victim for you until you've got it under control. Fair no?"

Of all the things he was told, yelled at even, it was self control, and if he couldn't do it, and he wasn't about to risk anyone else, what option did he have left? If he continued, he'd either hurt someone, get expelled for the attempt, or just wind up never swimming until graduation. The very idea crushed his heart, and he looked back at the lake, and the demon offering her hand to him.
It sounded.......fair enough.
He swallowed hard, looking up at her with all the unsure doubt that he could feel and feeling yet another moment where he was going against everything he preached. What a poor example of a kelpie was he being, but if it meant keeping his friends and gaining that vital control he needed, well........
Closing his eyes, he reached out and took her hand, wincing as they shook on it. "Deal." At that, he felt a sizzling pain as the mark started to implant itself on is skin. It was warm fire on his chest, and he winced before opening his eyes. Handshake done, he took his hand and rubbed his chest. "I guess this means we're filling out some paperwork then. Just don't expect me to call you mistress. I don't do that." He wasn't a pet after all.

"I don't work like that, infact I'd rather no one knew about this...just you and me and whoever gets the paperwork in the office...and if you happen to remember me fondly later down the line I'd appreciate it." She slowly moved her hand back down her leg, the cramp fading as she relaxed. "I'll make myself available for lessons after Fearleading practice...we might as well continue them here...this is a large enough body of water."
She slowly stood her leg still a bit sore, she could feel the cramp ready to surface again and tried to keep herself relaxed. She offered Calder her hand again, this time not for a contract, but so he could stand. "You really should get your leg seen...you'll wish you had if it gets worse."

The arrangement sounded good enough, and it was a private place. Even better was that she wanted no one to know about it which was more than perfect for him. So far only Barth and Christof knew about his mark with Barth and he didn't want ANYONE knowing about a second. As far as deals went, he guessed he couldn't have asked for anything better than what he was getting. Beggars couldn't be choosers after all.
At the offered hand, he took it and slowly rose up, biting down any pain to pretend he was fine and dandy. "Oh I'm fine. Got here all my myself. Nothing a night's sleep won't cure. I get little bumps like this all the time." He waved it off, but he really just wanted to go back to his dorm and lay on the floor for a while. His leg felt hot now and he was sure it would swell up again.
Releasing her hand, be looked back to her. "Thank you, for keeping this private. I'll send you my number later and hand over the contract when I'm done." Of course, this would all be handled where no one could see and take notice. It was a blessing that her mark was on his chest and pretty much hidden from view.

"Of course...but if it does get worse...let me know so I can walk you down to Nurse Crickets hmm?" She eyed him trying to determine if his leg was really just lightly bumped, or worse. Then she let go of his hand and turned with a nod, well her mind was half off of her painful issues at least.
"I'll deliver the contract quietly to the office once I fill out my end..." She intended to keep it private, and start collecting. What drove her now was anyone's guess when she had always been so careful about marks before. Perhaps it was the loss of her Raven's voice in the back of her mind making her feel like she was good, too good to need the mark, she could just be nice and help others and they in turn would want to help her...but now she just felt betrayed and she wasn't going to let anyone else betray her that way. She headed back to the demon dorms eager to take a long hot bath and wrap her aching leg.
