Lucy shook her head, smiling apologetically at Nott.
"Nah.", she groaned grumpily before straightening up in her seat, "Wasted my time getting rid of the spider web.", she said, recalling the dark dungeons and finding a door that she unlocked before struggling against spider webs, dust and some kind of immobile Devil Snare-like plants, "Got kicked out by the bloody Caretaker." she grumbled angrily, crossing her arms as she threw a cold glance towards Stayne's direction, hoping he'll choke on his food, or that either Isis or Eleanor will kill him.

"Oh darn," Charlotte muttered before she sipped her water. She had been hoping that there was some way for her to get into Hogsmeade. She had spent the entire winter, much to her disgust with her grandparents and they're surprise guest. A pure blooded couple from Transylvania and their very pure blood only son, Emmanuel-Jean. However all those conversation with Jean, weren't half as interesting as the letters from Nott. Taking a longer sip of water a sudden thought struck her, Nott, still hasn't told me what has been going on with Fenniwick. The boy hasn't said a word about him, not since his last letter at least...arg, I'll have to ask him later.

Setting her glass back down she turned her focus back to the conversation at hand. She could prod him later for information. Turning her attention to Lucy, she said, "Is the Caretaker that bad? I mean I've read an autobiography where one was mentioned, but I didn't think that they were accurate."

User ImageNott was intrigued. He found himself plotting already about when he could attempt to sneak out of the castle. However, that wasn't what tonight was about. He had the information that he needed if he wanted to accomplish that end at a later time. This was Valentine's Day. Poor Lucy looked as though she kept vacillating between emotions like comfort and awkwardness and amiable to shy.

Putting on his best and most winning smile, Nott turned his full attention to Lucy. "Well, you sneak out of the castle, battle the caretaker and play Quidditch. You are certain a fascinating person. What is your best subject here? Have you any idea what you would like to do when you leave?"

Charlotte was sitting just to his other side but Nott had trouble paying attention to her. Not that she didn't hold his attention, quite the opposite. Whenever he would look at her she had the strangest effect on him and he would go dumb and stuttery. She didn't seem to be craving his attentions so he felt the best route would be to focus on Lucy and attempt to hold off his embarrassing handicap for the evening. Though he hadn't quite figured out how to get through the night without looking at her again.

Lucy glanced over to Charlotte, smiling kindly, although her voice was showing irritation towards Stayne.
"I sneaked into his office on the way to a detention. Smells like alcohol and cigs." she grimaced, wincing on the memory of a cloud of smoke floating in the Caretaker's office. She looked at Nott as he spoke to her, sipping her water as she tried to drown her blush. She put her glass down and beamed brightly at the young Slytherin.
"I really like Herbology and Defense Against the Dark Arts.", she responded with a light shrug, "I'd like to be an Auror, just like my parents, but I thought that I might try to join a Quidditch team." she smiled proudly, recalling the visions of her parents fighting against Voldemort and his minions. Plus, both of her parents and sisters were in the Quidditch team, which made it easier for her to believe in herself.

Charlotte wrinkled her nose, trying to imagine what the room must have been looked like. She knew right off the bat, that she never wanted to see what it really looked like. Though she was itching to know where that passage way went. She was eager to explore the Castle and learn more about it than those who wrote all the books she had read. Her face eased off the disgusted as Lucy continued. Smiling she said, "I'm sure you'll be good at which ever job you take."

Personally, Charlotte was a bit overwhelmed with the idea of leaving Hogwarts. Her wasn't about to leave his jobs, which left her with far too much free time after graduating. Sighing she took another sip of water and then glanced over at Nott. It should be illegal for him to look so handsome. Most of say that silver and green would overwhelm a person and give them a greenish ting, but somehow Nott had managed. I don't get it. How does he manage it? she thought, while she asked him, "I've been meaning to ask you that actually. What are you thinking of doing when you leaving? Oh! And how was your holiday?"

She added that and while it seemed random. It had hit her mid way through her question that she had failed to ask how his holiday was. In fact the first question from her when they had meet again, was actually going to take notes during Professor Binn's class and let her take the nap this time. He had laughed and said no, and thus had thrown them far away from anything thoughts on Holidays and how they had gone.

User ImageNott was impressed. Not only did he and Lucy share the same two favorite classes, he also had thought about perhaps becoming an Auror. He envied her that both of her parents had be Aurors, his parents were so tame by comparison, a potions master and a magical object repairman. "I think you are reading my mind and just saying what I want to here. It sounds like you are talking about me!" he joked with a smile. "And you play Quidditch. It's like looking at myself in female form. Well, and much ,much prettier. Luckily you don't have my rugged handsome thing going on, which is good." he chuckled.

Nott's eyes were drug back to Charlotte. She had a certain glow about her tonight which somehow made him look at her differently. Actually made it difficult to look at her. He could flirt and charm any girl, or woman, in school. But he was scared to do that with Charlotte. If he angered her, or much worse, hurt her, he would lose her. She was his best friend. The solution, revert to old behaviors that she hates and you won't have to worry about her getting close to you, no matter what you think you might feel.

"Well, I thought about sulking inside for the whole of the holiday since you had better things to do but I managed to pull myself away from pining for you and get outside." He chuckled. "Kaera and Ryn stayed at my place for a week and we rode brooms in the valley almost everyday. I harassed our house elf and made her happy that I spend most of the year at school. And all of my horses were getting fat in my absence so I spent a lot of time riding. If I wasn't on them, I was riding my broom."

Looking back to Lucy with a smile he gestured to Charlotte. "'SOMEONE' had to be fancy and go away to France for the whole holiday." he said with a laugh. He knew enough about her to know that she hadn't been happy about it, but he was still upset that she didn't take his advice to dungbomb the relatives and run. So evidently it wasn't THAT awful.

"As for the future," he went on thoughtfully. "I am interested in learning more about becoming an Auror. But I think being a Field Herbologist that specialized in the very rare and dangerous sort of plants would be interesting too. OR" he added with an evil grin "I could just wait for my mum's parents to kick the bucket and live off of what will be a sizable inheritance and just be a good-for-nothing layabout. Which does appeal to me. Now that is all assuming that the Cannons don't pull me out of school in my fifth year to come and lead their team to the World Cup. Obviously." he gestured with mock arrogance.

Chuckling at himself he took another sip of water. He would love to play Quidditch professionally but he knew how competitive it was to get on the teams. Jerking his chin to Charlotte, "What about you, Lottie? Rethinking the baby machine idea, perhaps?" he waggled his eyebrows at her. He could almost feel her cursing him under her breath.

Lucy couldn't help but laugh at Nott and his surprised face expression. After struggling with giggles, she sighed and shrugged.
"Well, it proves that Gryffindors and Slytherins aren't that different after all." she smiled proudly before taking a gulp of her drink. She looked at Charlotte with a smile.
"France is lovely. I've been there when I was nine." she mumbled as she recalled the time when she and her friend Patrick had to flee to France to get away from angry policemen for begging in restaurants and cafes. The police was obviously overreacting.

Charlotte wasn't cursing Nott, she was ready to skin him alive. A slow and painful process, that Charlotte was sure she was going to make all the slower by not using magic. She took a deep breath trying to regain in her temper, seriously he had been fine right up in till he turned to her. Though now that her temper was calming, she could feel the unease coming back. She knew the answer she was going to give him and Lucy, she wasn't very worried about that. However the uncertainity was still there so instead of answering right off she said, "I'm happy to hear that you were pinning away for me and feeling so miserable...I hope that Keara and Ryn enjoyed their time though. Hogsmeade is lovely during the winter, though give that they had to spend it with you...Well, I'm sure your mother made it bearable."

Pausing she gave him a dry look and turned her gaze to Lucy. Whom she smiled at before saying, "I went to Southern France, to visit my grandparents..."

She trailed off a bit remembering the first day of that visit. It wasn't a nightmare, it had just been stiff, silent, and a tense. Sighing she pushed the memory before continuing, "Sadly I can't say that I was pinning for you. While my grandparents made thing unbearable for a bit. I did happen to meet a charming guy. Jean made it far more bearable...and has rather changed my mind from being a...'baby machine'. as you so lovingly put it. By the way...I'm still trying to strain myself from hitting you for that."

She gave him a stiff smile and then sipped her water. She wasn't sure if she want to share what Jean had given her to think over. She was certain at this point there was very little chance she would take it up. Their conversation had given her some thoughts, sighing she decide that while she wasn't fonding of letting it out. Lying had never been her strong suit, so as she put her glass down, she said, "However at this point, I'm not sure. I did think of working under my father or possible taking one of his businesses over. This sadly won't happen after I leave Hogwarts, since he wants me to explore. So, Jean said that maybe I should go and study in other magical countries. You know, study aboard. Its a thought."

As she finished, she realized that the idea didn't sounds half as bad as she thought it had when Jean had mentioned it. In fact, she thought as a small smile began to form. It sounds interesting...I need to rewrite that letter...

Lucy nodded to Charlotte with a bright smile.
"I've only been to Paris, unfortunately." she replied, letting out a yawn before taking a gulp of water.

User ImageWhat is with this girl? Everywhere she goes nasty, skiiving blokes just fall out of the woodwork and glom all over her? And she just loves it and thinks they are 'charming'? Nott was anxious to make a bushel-ful of comments to that regard but that last bit of her account shocked him.

"Study abroad? When? After Hogwarts?" Or was she planning on going to Beauxbatons for next year to be closer to Jean, the Don Juan of the Dungheap known as France. Or at least that was quickly becoming his opinion of the country.

The food appeared on their plates and Nott wasn't sure he was hungry. Until he smelled the food that is. A young man cannot deny his stomach, no matter the intricacies of school life. Tucking in, he salved his rankled side over with roasted new potatoes and braised lamb shank. Turning back to Lucy with a smile, he decided to keep the conversation in safe waters where he would not end up screaming at, or pouting because of, Charlotte.

"So Lucy, being you are in your second year, any advice for us following in your footsteps? Any bits of wisdom learned during your first year that you could pass on to us?"

But in his mind he was pacing back and forth, feet stomping, pouting majorly with his hands clenched into fists. 'France, who goes to France? And once they go there who ever wants to go back?' But Nott kept that little gremlin continue stomping behind locked doors while he tried to enjoy his evening and let the girls enjoy theirs.

Lucy directed her attention to Nott, driven away from her thoughts. She shrugged and smiled faintly.
"Dunno.", she said, "Just don't cause too much trouble, alright?" she chuckled lightly as she arched an eyebrow at him. She was pretty sure he will end up causing trouble by the end of the year, but she'll keep that as a secret. However, Lucy didn't care much about trouble. Most of the people she bumped into said she was a danger-magnet. After all, she could easily use the passageway she and Tamara found to go to Hogsmeade without any permission.

Charlotte rolled her eyes at Nott, "Yes, he of little brains. I mean after Hogswart. Jean, told me of several programs starting up to have young witches and wizards go to different wizarding communities around the world. It sounds like fun."

Sipping from her water, she glanced down to realize that the found has just appeared. Though for some reason lamb didn't wake her appetite. Sighing, she decided to start on the beet and goat cheese salad. She listened with one ear to the conversation.

Though she didn't absorb most of it consumed as she was by her thoughts. Going off to other places, was an exciting idea, but the steps to go to other places. That is completely different. I would really need to think it over...I wonder if there are any classes I should take... she thought as she munched, she decided that these thoughts would wait in till later. Tuning back in, she just caught Lucy's words.

"Well that is going to be a challenge for Nott...seeing as he can only entertain himself by running a muck," she said smirking and then, with great daintiness, she munched on some of her meal.
