Some are Catholic and have Protestant godparents.
Where I grew up- being a Godparent is a serious thing, and according to the Catholic Church, you can't be a Protestant and be a godparent to a Catholic. You have to be a confirmed Catholic over the age 16- but the age thing can change if you have a letter issued by a Bishop or similar authority- and you have to be in good standing within the Church. Protestants can witness- but they can't be Godparents.
