Manelesi started circling Esche, tail held up.
"You get to be the male, in case you were wondering about that."

"Well....well of course I get to be the male. But not like..." Esche sat there wide eyed watching Manelesi circle. "I've never even...." He stood abruptly. "I've never heard of such a thing happening. This is some sort of strange prank isn't it?" He began to eye the cheetah distrustfully. He'd had pranks played on him before, and honestly a prank seemed more likely to him then this cheetah actually wanting to mate with him.
"I mean, males don't DO that kind of thing with other males. Females don't do that sort of thing with other females. It's just...." Esche spoke all at once his mind emptying out everything in it in all his confusion, panic, and distrust.

"It happens all the time, Esche, when they want too. Cubs just don't happen. It's not a prank. I'm too nice to play pranks on people. I just want everyone to feel good. It's not a bad thing."
He circled closer, and his tail brushed Esche's mane.
"If you don' want to, you ought to make up your mind before we both get riled up and then we'll really be in trouble if you don't want to."

Esche was still having trouble believing Manelesi but it seemed like a good idea just to say no either way. He moved a bit suddenly, being startled by Manelei's tail brushing his mane.
"I guess it better be a no then... because I'm not riled up." Which was mostly true. If Esche was riled up, it was more out of being confused and startled by this new 'males mating with males' thing.

Manelesi pouted at Esche, then sighed. Maybe he would be more willing after he had some time to think about it.
"Alright then," the cheetah said, letting his tail brush Esche one more time as he finished his circling. "I'm sure I'll be seeing you around, Esche . . . you let me know if you change your mind."
Manelesi started heading off, disappointed that the lion wasn't interested.

Manelesi looked so disappointed that Esche couldn't help but feel bad for him. Still though, he wasn't going to change his mind about it. A lion had to have his boundaries and all that.
"I'll see you around Manelesi. Thank you for getting rid of my itch, and I'm sorry I can't help you with yours." Esche called after him, getting ready to settle back under the tree for a nap. He'd think over all this males beign with males thing later.
