Sudi frowned a little at the other’s cat eagerness but decided not to say anything when things were so strangely in his favor. Finishing their tasks early meant he was allowed to go back home sooner so he nodded to the other striped slave when he suggested working on the next hut.

“Okay.” He agreed slowly, taking a couple of streamers in his paws, watching the other cat intently. “I’ll meet you on the ground!”

There was only one more task to complete after this so Sudi supposed he was actually quite lucky to have found someone who was so willing to help speed things up a bit. Even if it did confuse him a little.

"Oh! Why don't we go see the spring...it is supposed to be the main attraction for the festival after all." The only problem was where exactly is said spring? Ife looked up and down to the area, hoping to find something that might give her a clue. It was harder to catch a glimpse of anything as some places had become more crowded in the last little while.

"Any clue where its at though, Layla?" The dark feline chuckled nervously, she hadn't paid much attention to her surroundings as they'd come in other than brief glimpses. She had been paying more attention to Tihrak so she didn't loose track of him. The first real look she had gotten of anything to do with the festival had been what she saw on the way to finding Layla.

User ImageKa could feel the stares he was currently being subjected to and it made his fur stand on end in displeasure. Gather a round folks and stare at the freaks! Marvel at the disfigured twins and their disfigured master! It did give him some comfort knowing that Bomani understood their plight and was just as much a victim of it as they were. He couldn’t say he exactly trusted the hound, but he understood them and that was something…

Nevertheless, Ka couldn’t help but question his master’s judgment in attending this celebration. He hadn’t exactly won the favor of his guests with his previous get together. In fact he had frightened them and the experience had probably deepened his social insecurity. So how Bomani had managed to work up the courage to attend was a mystery to the tom. He was either brave or stubborn. Maybe a combination of both.

A cloud of dust kicked up by his master’s feet caused the feline to sneeze and shake his head. The sounds and smells were becoming slightly overwhelming, and Ka could feel a headache growing between his ears. He hoped that they didn’t stay too long, but in the meantime, he did his best to keep up with Bomani and avoid bumping into others.

Neser had never travelled much in his life until recently. The trip from school to the black market hadn't offered much of a view since anyone lagging behind or letting their eyes wander had been punished. The trip from the market to his new home had been like a strange dream, and now this... Neser was back in Prussia where he once came from. Being out and about made him nervous, and he did his best to keep up with the group and stay close to his master. The order to wander as they pleased was strange to his ears. Did the master just give them permission to leave him? What if he needed anything and they weren't close? What if he accidentally got himself in trouble? But masters always knew what to do so he supposed had to trust his ears on this one.

"Is there anything you need, master," he asked, just to make sure, "Anything at all? I can fetch something? Or carry your bag?"

Nappa was busy scowling at the array of heart charms in one window when he heard a voice that rang very familiar. Grunting, and somewhat annoyed that someone would bother him with something as trivial as...directions, he turned around and then he caught himself.

"Oh my dear!" He said with real joy at seeing the other. Though his joy was closely tied with his lustful desires, it remained true all the same. "Fancy, meeting you here."

Of course, when he did enter the city he briefly wandered if he might run into the pretty little hound, but figured he probably wouldn't, as Prussia during a celebration was a very large and consuming place. His eyes ticked over to the slaves at her side, and then to the milling canines around her. What did not see was her father.

"Are you without an escort my dear? That is a shame. Perhaps you would like me to show you to the fountain, and on the way I can tell you about the legend itself?" He bowed low, very low, looking at her fine legs openly (though he though he was being very discreet) before he raised back up.

Lilia remembered the hound as soon as she saw her, for she was wryly enough to have see the female hound coming as soon as she was approaching. The black feline felt indifferent to the whole matter. Haqikah had not treated her badly during her stay, no beating, fur pulling, or kicking - none of that, but the hound had not gone out of her way to be overly nice either. In fact, she had been treated the way she liked her slave hood to go. With a sort of mutual indifference.

She was requested a job to do, Lilia in turn do the job to the best of her abilities, and neither were worse off for it. Looking from one hound to the other Lilia backed up a few steps, pondering what the best course of sneaking off would be.

When she realised exactly why that hound had seemed familiar it was too late for her to avoid the situation. The hotel manager. But what was he doing here? She could pretend to be someone else, but that would pretty much give away her earlier bluff since he must have seen the flash of genuine surprise in her eyes. Haqikah had recognised him and there was no denying it now. If she had been more careful perhaps, and seen him coming... But unless she learned to turn back time that was not going to happen.

"Oh, it's you," she said and smiled as best as she could. The smile was probably not reaching her eyes, but since the hound was busy checking her legs out he might not even notice. "I almost didn't recognise you, are you wearing a new collar?"

It was a silly thing to say, especially since compliments about clothing usually worked better when a male gave them to a female... Never mind. Mr. What's his face didn't seem very educated in the finer points of social interaction so hopefully that one would slip. She beamed at him again, very much hoping that he wouldn't try to cash in that kiss in this crowd. It was a small blessing that she hadn't met anyone else she knew yet. She couldn't imagine the damage it could do to her reputation if the wrong hound saw her in this kind of company.

"Ah, yes," she said, "My slaves are around of course, but I've awarded most of them some freedom to wander. Ah... How could I refuse that offer."

How indeed... She had thought about it, but couldn't find a good way to turn him down. She turned away from Nappa for a moment and gave her remaining slaves a glare that even the densest cat would be able to interpret as 'Not. A. Word.' Hopefully she wouldn't have to resort to punishment, because she wouldn't want one of them to say something that would tilt the balance of this very delicate situation. Oh, gods. There was no such thing as a free lunch, or hotel night, it seemed.

User ImageHow annoying. Omari's date had failed to show up in the place they had agreed on, and he was quite frankly fed up with waiting. He wasn't sure if he had been stood up or if she was just lost somewhere in the crowd. With the female in question both outcomes were equally possible so he decided to check out the rest of the festival instead of hanging around here any longer. Omari worked his way through the crowd with long determined strides. He carried a sturdy stick and any slave that hesitated too long in getting out of his way got an encouraging prod with one end of it. He hadn't had to use more force than that, and he congratulated himself in his decision to bring the useful instrument. It was always good to carry a stick in crowds, or while handling slaves for that matter.

He wasn't too heart broken over his missing lady friend, even if it had been her idea to meet at the festival in Prussia. It should be easy enough to pick up a replacement, given the nature of the festival.

Tsk, tsk. It seemed as if all the ladies were either accompanied or not interested. Even the pretty one with the cute little fluffy tail had found her date. What a shame. Of course, there were girls in the fountain but Tihrak would rather not get that close to those dangerous waters and be at the receiving end of someone’s obsession when he was fairly certain that he didn’t want to find anything… permanent. But he wasn’t picking up on any kind of female interest in the sidelines either. Maybe he should have worn his best collar…

Lost in his musing he almost bumped into a brown Hound who had a most interesting cape tied around his collar. Tihrak maneuvered out of the just in time but he’d come pretty close to a collision.

“My apologies!” he said jovially, obviously in good spirits – which wasn’t exactly unusual when it came to the white Hound. “I got distracted by your cape. Such a lovely fabric… would it be a bother if I asked you where you acquired it?”

The slaves milling around in the crowd were little more than furry obstacles, but hounds were a different matter. If a slave had bumped into him he wouldn't have been gentle with the stick, but since it was another hound Omari put the stick down and smiled back at him. He was rarely hostile unless he had good reason, and the other hound had a sympathetic smile and a pleasant way. It was evident that the black masked hound was pleased about the compliment about his clothing too...

"Oh, don't you worry," he said, taking some time to adjust his cape, "It's awfully crowded here, distractions or not. Ah, I was really lucky with this cape. A travelling saleshound moving through Zanzibar had it in his special stash. Not everyone knows how to ask..."

Nappa was as smug as ever, puffing his chest out and arching his tail high behind his back. He thought he looked charming and handsome, anyone that was on the outside looking in saw him for what he was - a fat hound that was so busy preening himself he didn't see how ridiculous he looked.

"Right this way, m'lady," he said with a curt nod of his head.

The truth was he really could care less about this stupid fountain, but hopefully this female would be daft enough to wade through it with him. Wouldn't that bound her with him forever? Or something like that? Really...

he'd be fine with her staying with him the night...or even a couple of minutes till the deed was done. That's all he really needed. Nappa wasn't very picky in that regards.

When he approached the fountain, after some searching in the wrong direction, he couldn't help but be lured by its charm. There were a few other hounds already in it, some were being quite lovey dovey and some were so unattractive that even Nappa felt sorry for them.

"After you, " he said with a nod, eyeing the waters of the fountain with reproach. Thing was probably infested with who knows what.

User ImagePrussia was truly magnificient in its festival glory. Halimah could feel her spirits lift from the moment that she could hear the music and the happy noises of the crowds. She had done right to come here, and she breathed a sigh of relief. Not every decision she made on her own was a mistake, after all.

If she had been a little more strictly brought up, she might have felt shame at being seen at such a gathering so utterly unaccompanied by slaves OR escorts, but at this present juncture in her life, Halimah actually found it... quite liberating. Besides, had she had slaves, she would already have dismissed them to let the little darlings enjoy the festival, so it didn't make that much difference anyhow.

Halimah's tail wagged constantly as she made her way through the crowded streets, listening to the music, the happy laughters, the calls of merchants, and inhaling a myriad of enticing, lovely smells. Yes. This was precisely what she had needed. So worth the journey from Cairo.

It was rather difficult to miss the directions leading all visitors toward the famous magical spring, and although the mere thought of it made her as embarrassed as an academy juve, she couldn't help but let her paws take her ever closer to it. It was so silly, really. Really, really silly, and she was a silly girl for thinking it. But still... With all the bad luck she had had recently... was it truly such a ridiculous notion to think it might be time for a turn toward the better? To meet a handsome hound at the very festival of Love... it would be such a lovely fairytale ending to her plight.

Halimah had to stop and shake herself down before she could carry on. The silly idea was making her all tingly and warm, and if she wasn't careful, she could walk right into someone in her confusion.

The spring was quite impressive, but Haqikah wasn't going to jump in just like that. She knew she looked absolutely ridiculous if she happened to get her ears or tails wet, and while she enjoyed baths she preferred to take them in the privacy of her home. Or possibly in a professional and luxurious spa. Mmmmm... Wouldn't that be something? But the hounds already enjoying the springs didn't seem to care about wet fur clinging unattractively to the body. Some hounds...

"So... You're supposed to dip your paws and then find true love," she asked, and then added another concern, "Do you think they allow slaves in the water?"

She always made sure her own slaves kept themselves clean and presentable, but who knew about other hounds with lower standards? And other hounds personal hygiene for that matter. No, she might dip her toes later just to feel the legendary water, but right now she was certainly not in the mood.

"I'm thirsty," she said, out of the blue, "Aren't you? I think I saw a tea stand over that way!"

“He sounds interesting but hard to track, unfortunately.” He couldn’t very well go to Zanzibar and ask around that mess of a city where he could find the traveling saleshound – it would be the same as begging to be tricked and there were probably more than a few saleshounds around and not all of them honest. “You wouldn’t happen to have caught his name, would you?”

He was watching the cape intently until something just as interesting moved on his peripheral vision and the young Hound’s head moved slowly to follow it.

“Oh my…” Tihrak said quietly as he watched the pale lady with the red heart on her collar – so fitting for this occasion! She looked so slender and delicate, a real natural beauty if he’d ever seen one.

"He's called Usi, but I don't know if it's his real name," Omari said, "I've seen him a couple of times in Zanzibar, but I understand he travels around to the biggest markets in other cities too. You'll notice him if you see him, his fur is the colour of smoke and he's got one floppy ear and one regular."

For all he knew Usi might use other names too, but he couldn't very well change his appearance too, right? He'd heard of dishonest saleshounds using strange herbs and concoctions to change the colour of their fur to avoid unhappy customers, but his exchanges with Usi had all been favourable so it seemed far-fetched to think that he would alter his appearance.

"Tell him Omari sends his greetings if you meet him," he said, and then turned around to see what or rather who had distracted the other male. Oh my, indeed. Pretty little thing, that one. Omari wasn't one to ogle from afar, and he might as well socialise when he was stranded here without a date. The female in question appeared to be here alone, even if there could be a significant other around somewhere. Ah, he had never let that little 'maybe' stop him before, so why start now?

"Let's introduce ourselves to the lady," he said to the hound that had admired his cape since it seemed impolite to just leave him in favour of a female even if they had just met, "Shall we?"

Ife continued to move through the crowd, more out of necessity to avoid being stepped on or tripped over by a hound then knowing where to go. She looked back trying to spot the feline she had been chatting with to no avail. Hopefully Layla had found another way out of the crowd and wasn't caught somewhere she couldn't get out of.

The dark coated feline sighed as she continued to duck and weave to slip around hounds, eventually making it to a less crowded spot. She sat down to rest and her gaze darted around as she tried to get her bearings.

It seems her little trek had brought her closer to the destination she had been discussing with Layla, the mythical spring at the center of the festival. And over there was that her master, Tihrak? It appeared he had made a friend of sorts and hoped to find another in that female hound he had his eye on.

Well, this could certainly be interesting.
