Amy allowed the nudge, touching his cheeks first, and then his muzzle, and then his forehead. She was quiet, tail still for once and body tense. His facial structure was different than Tabby's. Her heart ached again once more as she thought of the third male that had taken her heart and flown off. Oh... Why was she always so stupid? This time she was not giving her heart up. This time she was going to serve Yasashii and focus on only that. Men were liars, at least the kind she attracted. Was it because she was blind?

Blind...

Her ears flicked, backing away from Karoko. "You have a face that is soft and your bone structure hints you rarely hunt, it's not as strong as hunters are." She mused lightly, grabbing the kill and moving to leave. She was lucky she knew Yasashii land like the back of her paw. It made her leaving easier.

She was not falling for this anymore.

~~A month later~~

Amy sat on the beach, tail flicking as the sound of water hit her ears. She wished she could see the ocean, but was grateful she could hear it. A shell rested between her paws, claws touching its edges. She was thinking of that idiot again. Okay, idiot was harsh. He of course hadn't come back, but she was glad. She didn't want to become attached. Anyway, she had duties to fulfill.

BAM! The large rabbit hardly knew what hit it, for it's hunter was fast and made a quick, clean kill. Karo smiled at himself, then put his paws up to his face. The male still couldn't feel a difference... was it even possible for bone structure to change? Maybe his paws just weren't sensitive enough, after all, he never even knew there was a difference, but that vixen... Amy... she knew.

Amy.

It had been quite a while since he had seen her. Karo thought about her often, with every creature he killed he thought of Amy, and his self-promise to teach her something in return...

Karo had stayed around the tribes land, sniffing out the boarders so he knew the lines not to cross. His wanderings had taken him close enough to a large body of water that he could hear the waves. Karo picked up his rabbit and carried it towards the watery sound until he found the beach. There, he skinned his kill, ate the flesh, buried the bones back under the trees, and cleaned the pelt. He cut a strip of the pelt off, then bit holes in each end of the pelt, folding it furry-side-out, and making it into a bracelet/warmer thing of sorts. It would be a nice, soft gift for Amy, next time he got to see the vixen. He just hoped she wouldn't be offended; the rest of the rabbit had silenced his rumbling stomach, so it wasn't a waste.

Her ears twitched, the sound and smell of someone in the distance reaching her. It seemed familiar, but she was interrupted by the scent of the sea. She loved the scent, it filled the entire tribe-land often and it was a peaceful, soothing scent. Her tail flicked pleasantly, smiling as the setting sun warmed her. She had finished her duties, for today, and had decided to spend time by the waters edge, but only for a little bit. She would return happily to Kithara soon, after her rest and relaxation. Her paw touched the waters edge, but she didn't dare enter. She was blind, after all, if she drowned how would she save herself?

With his dirty work done and over with, Karo inhaled deeply and looked out over the ocean. He had never seen the ocean before, it was certainly breath-taking. All he could do was stare... until the water moving on the shoreline made him so dizzy he fell over. Sighing, Karo just lay on the warm sand for a minute, closing his eyes and enjoying the feel...

After what seemed like forever, the male sat up and gazed down the shore line, into Yasashii land... And blinked. There was a small figure by the water. Amy? Nah, surely it was just another tribe member, it would be too perfect if it was Amy... Though, he could tell by the tail it was indeed a vixen...

Deciding to go say hello, no matter who the vixen was, Karoko got up and padded along the waters edge.

Amy tensed when she smelled the fox coming closer, dropping her sea-shell. She regretted that, because the second she did water swept it away. A sad whine escaped her, tail flicking and ears moving against her skull. Oh, she had wanted to keep that... Her head sharply jerked up as she heard footsteps, growling. Whoever it was had made her loose her sea-shell!

The scent seemed familiar though... Oh. That male. Her tail flicked, head raising as she waited for him to approach. When he did, she huffed. "You made me lose my sea-shell."

Yes! It was Amy! Seeing that it was her, he picked up the pace and in no time was close enough that he seen her notice him. He had also seen a shell escape her paws and had seen her saddened reaction. What made him feel really horrible, though, was her whine.

Without hesitation, Karoko jumped into the water and began feeling around for every shell he could get his paws on. After a few minutes of splashing around he had collected a small little pile of shells on the shore. Breathing hard, he flopped down on his belly in front of Amy, pawing the shells out into a row. "Here, here, are any of these it?" He really hoped one of them was it, because he knew if they weren't he would splash around some more until he found it.

At the sound of splashing she backed away from the crazed fox, wondering if he was going insane. Probably, she wouldn't put it past him. Her ears flicked as she heard a flopping sound and his heaving, head tilting until he spoke. She frowned, pressing her paws onto the sand until she felt the shells, shaking her head until she found one at the very end, scooping it up and licking it.

"This one." She mewled, tail wagging for once because of Karoko. She flicked her ear, grumbling. "Thank you..."

PostPosted: Sun Feb 06, 2011 2:12 pm

Karoko grinned widely. Score for the male! "You are most certainly welcome! I'm so sorry I startled you, and I'm really sorry I made you lose that shell to begin with..." He got up and walked a safe distance before shaking out his dripping fur. "But I'm glad I got it back for ya!" Still smiling, he looked at Amy for a second, tail wagging, happily holding that silly sea shell in her paws... The artistic fox couldn't help but admire her.

Padding back over to sit beside her, Kako stared out over the ocean. "Thank you for teaching me to hunt... I've gotten a lot better at it! But... my face doesn't feel any different..." He frowned. Did he sound silly? Could faces change? He had no clue.

She held the sea-shell close to her, sighing contently. She was not going to give in so easily, however a laugh escaped her when he spoke, shaking her head. "Really? You remember that?" She mused, shaking her head again. "It takes many years for a face to shape." She pawed the sea-shell, unsure where to put it and eventually slipping it into her hair, sighing.

"Many many years."

Well, at least he wasn't silly. Karoko watched as Amy put the shell in her hair. "That looks really pretty~" He mused, then remembered the rabbit fur bracelet thing. "Oh! I have something for you..." He trotted over to where he dropped it before going shell-searching and brought it back to her. "I hope you like it, it feels really really soft so I thought... Well the rabbit it came off of was lunch, and I always wait to hunt until I'm real hungry so I don't kill more than I have to... Anyways..." He timidly put it between her paws, almost holding his breath that he didn't offend her with it.

Amy felt a flash of pain in her chest, suddenly jerking her paw away from him, growing tense and cold, almost distrusting. He was pulling the gift phase, a phase Tabby went through. Tabby. He had left her. She didn't love him anymore, hadn't for some time, but the feeling of being ditched hurt. No, she wasn't going to fall for this! She wasn't. Though she wished she could accept it.. it had felt soft and was a gift from someones own two paws....

No.

She shook her head, jerking away from him and bringing her tail around herself. "Why are you still trying? Even after the fact that I'm broken." She snapped back, paw raised as if she was going to bat at him. "Theres other pretty vixens out there, more worth your time."

For a second, Karo was quiet. He just looked at her. Just... looked. Seconds ago she seemed to be more... well, relaxed certainly wasn't the word, but at least she wasn't withdrawn as much. Now... obviously the male hit a nerve somehow. Perhaps she was being reminded of the men who did her wrong? Surly they gave her gifts too...

What should he tell her? Should he say he wasn't trying, he was just being kind and being a friend? Should he say that he liked her spunk, her will to go on, and that a simple lack of vision didn't bother him a bit? Which route should he take? Karo weighed the options. If he went the 'just looking for a friend' route, maybe she would relax more quickly... but that might close off the chance of ever being more with her, and he was attracted to her in so many ways... If he went the 'because no matter what you think, your perfect' route, she may run from him forever...

Finally, well, actually it was only several seconds later after she asked, Karo decided not to respond to the actual questions. "Broken?" He asked her in a soft, incredulous voice. "Broken, really? Is that how you see yourself? Let me tell you, babe, you have it all wrong. A broken fox can't hear deer that others can't even see. A broken fox can't feel the actual structure of a face and tell the difference between foxes. A broken fox doesn't have nearly the heart and spunk that you do, Amy, and that's not even the half of it. Clearly, you are not broken." Softly, gently, he put his paw on her raised one and guided it back to the sand.

(('babe' is just a word he uses, remember he's used to being a flirt XD))

She was at the point of slapping his paw aside when it lead hers to the sand, almost even snarling. Lies. Lies lies lies. What happened to the sweet, timid vixen? She had cracked, shattered because she had given in to many times. Her ears flicked, breath shaky as she raised her paw slightly from under his, face tense and angry, close to smacking him.

'You have it all wrong.'

Like he knew! Like he understood! Then again, how...how would he understand if she didn't let him? She didn't know, but why would she let him in? Maybe, because he cared? Her ears flicked, paw lowering finally, head lowering, chest twitching as she held back the tears.

"Clearly? How is it so clear when I can't realize these things?"

((you just gave me the PERFECT set-up to pull a scene from Fruits Basket~))

Karoko smiled. He was told something as a kit, and now was the perfect time to pass it on. "Because, it's stuck to your back." Using a soft, gentle voice, he explained. "A plum. Stuck to your back, as if you were a rice ball." Karo was tempted to reach out to her, but instead mearly lowered his head below the level of hers and spoke up to her, making sure she heard every word. "You can't see it, obviously, because it's behind you. Others can, because they can see every side of you. So, while you can see the plums of others, you can't see your own. It's there though. It's there, even when you think its not, it is. A sweet, wonderful plum that makes what you think is a plain little rice ball an amazing delicacy."

"Hm." The male trotted around to be behind Amy, gently poking the center of her back. "Right there, right there is you're plum, Amy. And seeing it has nothing to do with a fox's eyes."

((Zomg I remember that scene! Is Amy a Kyo, then? Lol. Ooooo he should bring her to the city one day. She'd freak out, but he could take her down quiet alleys and such.))

Amy's ears flicked when he spoke, and if she could see she would have been looking at him with an 'are-you-crazy' expression. She nearly jerked away when he moved and touched her back, however restrained herself, instead tail wrapping around herself. What nonsense. A plum? Where did he get this nonsense? And what was a rice-ball? City boys, always knowing things the forest-foxes didn't, at least she could hunt! However, her bitter thoughts subsided, head tilting as she relaxed slightly.

"Whats a riceball?" She whispered, ears flicking slightly. She tilted her head to where she believed he was, attempting to smile, just a little.
