Safiya chuckled right along with him. "That would be horrible. One second snug and cozy, the next: invaded by salt water. Especially if you get caught and can't get out." With that thought the laughter faded a little, but the amusement wasn't completely gone. After all, there was a picture of Tyco sleeping through a storm then jumping out the cave because he got splashed from behind by cold sea water. She would have probably had a heart attack. Safiya chuckled again.
"The beauty is amazing, but it seems to hide a very terrifying place. Especially to one who isn't so wise in the ways of the ocean. Perhaps it is a good thing that I visited in winter. Otherwise I would have probably charged right into the water without a second thought." Safiya pointed out. "Do you spend your time in this area the most? Or do you prefer another spot?"

"The spots vary, depending on mood and energy," Tyco responded. "This is certainly one of my more frequently visited spots, though certainly not the sole focus of all my attention."
He cast another glance down at the water. Even in the winter this spot could be teaming with fascinating life; not all the sea creatures moved somewhere else just cause the water got a bit colder. But for some reason it bothered Tyco that he couldn't show Safiya what his home looked like at it's best.
He managed to break through his annoyance and chuckle. "I would have stopped you if I thought you were about to do something potentially dangerous and stupid," he assured Safiya. He paused, then rushed to add, "Not that I think you'd go around making stupid decisions or anything like that." Tyco winced a little. "I mean, you don't seem the impulsive type," he said, ears flattening in a somewhat dismayed manner and hoping he hadn't stepped in the proverbial "pile".

Safiya nodded, showing that she understood about enjoying a spot but not necessarily staying in just that spot. If there were more spots as pretty as this one she would want to walk and visit each of them too. And if she knew when each would look the best, she could stay in that spot for a few weeks then move on to the next one.
Tyco's chuckle brought her attention back to the gray fox and she watched, amused, as he stuttered over a wrong turn of phrase. She could point out that her relationship with Alibi had been both stupid and impulsive, but she shook her head and discarded that nonsense. There was no reason to bring that up. So while he did cause her a twinge, his body language was practically screaming "Oh, crap" and she quickly let him off the hook.
She smiled gently at Tyco to show that she took no offense. "I'm not normally overly impulsive, but I do have my moments. And I understand you didn't mean 'stupid' like that. It would be more ignorance than stupidity anyway. After all, I'm used to calmer, warmer waters. I'm glad you'll be there to protect me from my rare burst of impulsiveness however." Realizing how that sounded, she turned back to the ocean. "Well, here anyway." she qualified.

Tyco's ears slowly lifted back up as Safiya gave him assurances. Looked like he wasn't the only one who's tongue tended to run away with them though. His expression softened as he watched Safiya, and his tail swished behind him while he tried to think of something that might cheer her up a bit.
"How about I show you something else," he urged. "We're not so high up, after all, and that cliff I found you on doesn't have the best of views. I know a place that has a great view of both the ocean and the edge of the forest." Tyco grinned. "Good thing it's not summer yet, or the sight might have charmed you into wanting to stay here forever."

Safiya turned back to Tyco and smiled. "Sure, I'd love to see more of your ocean. Since you know all the best spots, you'll definitely have to take me to all of them. You've officially become my guide." She said, a soft thread of teasing coloring her tone.
"Charming enough to make me stay forever, huh? Maybe I'll just have to come visit again during the summer since it's so wonderful. Unless I should see Spring too?" She stood and stepped closer to Tyco smiling. She was enjoying the grey male's company. More than she should, maybe...or maybe not. She really wasn't one to mope and she'd been indulging in that far too much lately.

Tyco grinned at Safiya. It was unexpectedly shy and sweet, especially for one so much bigger and muscled. "Spring is always a good time to visit," he conceded, "though you've got to time it just right. It seems to creep gradually, so you almost don't notice all the new greenery until it's about to officially become summer."
As they spoke he carefully began leading Safiya in the next direction. This spot was a bit further off, and certainly more of a climb! There would also be more wind, though unless it was fueled by storms it wouldn't be enough to be any trouble. The top of the cliff was perfectly wide enough to hold a dozen foxes, and it wasn't smooth. Dips in the rock and boulders spotted here and there made for plenty of places to stand.
"What about Spring in your home," Tyco asked, both trying to keep up a conversation and genuinely curious.

"Spring where I live is actually pretty noticable where I live." Safiya replied, following after the larger male. She positioned herself slightly behind and to the right of him, keeping half a step behind him since she didn't know where they were going, but didn't want to talk to the back of his head either.
"First, it rains. A lot. Then the days go from rainy one day to sunny the next and back to rainy, it is rather random. It's also a bit of a pain, but the results are amazing. Flowers bloom everywhere. Blues, reds, violets, sunshiney yellows. So much color it can make your eyes hurt. And all the animals start waking up again." Safiya smiled, thinking about how the forest came alive. "I much prefer summer though. I like basking in the sun."
"How about you, Tyco? What's your favorite season?"

"I think I prefer autumn the best," Tyco said absently, still trying to picture all of what Safiya described. This close to the ocean, flowers weren't exactly common, but they did make their appearance in Spring.
"It's still warm, because of the ocean air, but things are starting to cool down. You get that crisp, smoky scent of the sleepy forest mixed with warm salt air. There's also the sweet smell of all the fruit-producing bushes and trees as they put out as many of their berries as they can and as fast as possible before it gets too cold. It's the only time there's ever really color here, actually, what with trees changing color as their leaves begin to die and all that."
It was almost depressing when he put it like that, but even as he knew everything was just getting ready to fall asleep it seemed to Tyco as if they were bursting with every bit of life right before their rest came.

"That sounds really nice, Tyco. We get tons of color during the fall too. The leaves change to reds, oranges, golds, and bright yellows. The smells are different though; the berries in the forest bloom at the end of spring, begining of summer. However the air becomes crisp and you can scent the coming snows that winter brings."
Safiya wondered if Tyco saw much snow. Even now it wasn't too cold here...at least not in a snowy kind of way. Then again, it wasn't the dead of winter anymore. Spring wasn't upon them yet, but it wasn't that far away either.

As if in answer to her thoughts, Tyco replied, "Snow, huh? I don't ever get much of that up here. Not unless the weather is really bad. Mostly it's ice and cold rain. Probably something to do with the winds that come off the ocean." He glanced over at the vast expanse of water, pondering that for a moment.
"I remember what forest winters are like though," he said, looking back to Safiya. "It's been awhile since I actually lived in a forest, but the memories stuck with him." When Tyco mentioned the length of time it had been since living in forests, for the briefest of seconds, a flash of pain went through his eyes. He made sure to quickly bury it though, and plowed on with determined cheer.

"Yes, winter in the forest is interesting. The snow is fun for the first week and if there's a couple of sunny days. Mostly it is just a good excuse to stay curled up and warm in your cave. Of course ice and cold rain could easily give you the same excuse." Safiya pointed out. She'd seen a flash of something in his eyes that made her want to give him comfort. She wasn't too sure that would be allowed, however, and settled for trying to distract him with a change of subject.
"So, where are we going?" She asked, looking around at their surroundings. Everything was so new and different than she was used to.

"We are going up there," Tyco said, flicking his head at a sight looming ahead of them. It was quite easy to see the top of that cliff, though the path to the top was obscured by some trees that dotted the lower half of the base. The ocean was only brifely visible off to their right, but you could hear the waves as they beat at the rock below.
"I hope you don't mind a climb," he said, with a slightly apologetic grin.

Safiya looked up to where Tyco indicated. It was a rather large cliff that seemed to over look the ocean. Or at least it seemed to from this angle. Brining her gaze back to Tyco, she sent him a confident grin. She could climb rather well for someone who spent most of their life in the forest. Still, there were a couple of areas that one had to climb steep paths to get to.
"I don't mind. I bet the view from there will be amazing." She replied easily.

Tyco flashed Safiya an encouraging grin, then turned to begin the climb up the hill. He was suddenly hit by a feeling of well-being. There was nothing like a little bit of physical activity that took a bit of effort but didn't leave one exhausted. It was a nice day, and he had even nicer company.
The day was a little more than half over by the time the pair had finished climbing to the top of the rise. Tyco was starting to feel a slight burn in his chest, but wasn't having to gasp for breath. Given a few minutes he would be back to normal. "Have fun," he asked Safiya, chuckling.

Safiya, used to running through the forest and the occasional climb, had tons of stamina. The climb hadn't even winded her. However, she was using muscles she didn't normally use and her legs, especially the back ones, were a little tight. Still, she hadn't been hit with a cramp, which would have been embarrassing, and once she was on level ground the tightness would pass.
"Oh, yes. I haven't climbed such a long way before, we mostly have fairly small cliffs. But that was a lot of fun." She smiled brightly at Tyco and her tail waved in enjoyment of the day and its experiances. "Now, tell me the view from here is great." She said, ignoring the niggling thought that the view already was amazing since Tyco was part of it. She was not going to think that. She promised Tyco she wouldn't.
