i think german is a fun language and i would like to learn it soon. the only german music i really heard was nena's 99 luft balons, and the panthom of the opera in german (very nice), and a little rammstein. but it is really nice, a bit hard to find 'foreign" music though.

My favorite German singer is Marlene Dietrich... Some of the songs are heartbreaking, like 'Lili Marlene'. Others, like 'Ich bin von kopf bis fuss fuer liebe engestellt (sp?)' are just plain hysterical.
She's rather... Old, though.

The only German group I love so far is E Nomine. I like 90% of their stuff. Is there a translation to deine Welt anywhere? I'd do it myself, but I'm not that good yet and I'd need to look up almost every word.
But I like a few songs of some others... I don't like die Ärzte much but I love komm zurück. Same with Lacrimosa and der morgen danach. There's four I like from In Extremo.
I download a load of stuff off LimeWire to see what a band is like. Like enough then I get the CDs.

I really like German music, and because I grew up around alot of German speaking, I can sing along without butching the Umlauts and such. That and I can understand alot of what is said.
My favorite German bands are Megaherz, Rammstien, and Nu Pagadi.

MiwSheri Recently, a friend and I set up a guild for those who love German rock. Keep in mind it's still very much in its developmental stage! If you're interested, here's a link:

Ironically, their welcome message is incorrect My favourite German band are Wir Sind Helden, their songs are really fun and I love their lyrics

Sirius the Moony Lover So apparently they serve Beer at Mcdonalds in Germany. So says my German teacher. >.< Bier ist Deutschland's Wasser.. Yeah, I heard about that too! I think it's true. xd Erm, anyway, I don't know many German bands. sweatdrop I only know Tokio Hotel, which most of Germany seem to despise with a passion, Die Prizen, Rammstein, Killerpilze and Oomph! Anyone have any recommendations for German bands I might like? I like stuff leaning more towards rock/pop-rock. I also enjoy techno, or stuff similar to it. Okay, anyway, I love Germany and all, but one thing I don't like about it is its food. I went on that wiki page of German cuisine, and some of the stuff in there don't look too appetizing (they look kinda... uncooked?). Some of them do look pretty yummy, like the Currywurst and some desserts, but I'm not much of a fan of sausages.

Sirius the Moony Lover So apparently they serve Beer at Mcdonalds in Germany. So says my German teacher. >.< Bier ist Deutschland's Wasser.. Haha, that's true. I'm German myself, but I don't live in Germany anymore. I remember that when I was about eight years old, my parents sent me to the corner store to buy a few groceries. Since I wanted to "give my parents a treat" I decided to buy a bottle of beer for them...which the lady sold me without even thinking twice. Beer is pretty much served anywhere, at least in Bavaria where I'm from^^
As for German Bands... I actually really enjoy some German Rap artists, it depends which ones, but some of them are really good (: Some examples are:
Freundeskreis Die Fantastischen Vier Culcha Candela (They mix German Rap with Raggae and Spanish Rap...Reggae ton?) Seeed Blumentopf
Oh, and I also used to like this Band called "Echt" , I don't think that they're together anymore, though. And I also like songs from "die Prinzen". biggrin

I know this isn't exactly culture, but does anyone know what the student fees for univerisities situation is in germany? I believe it's 500 euros a year but not too sure. What ever it is, it's gotta be better than england.
