Chase did nothing but smile at her comment about his mother. She had raised him well, for the most part, but he was definitely a handful. He had been too much for the woman to handle which was partial why he was sent to a boarding school (the one for rich boys or scientifically/mathematically inclined boys) but he never seemed to mind. It let him do his own thing, mostly, and he could honestly say he was grateful for the space away from his family.
Being the son of a socialite and well-known business man was stressful.
"I'd hardly call myself an angel," he disagreed playfully, "I'm more of the 'knight in shining armor' kind of guy." Hadn't she called him that earlier? Probably. It didn't matter. "It would be my pleasure to escort you home, I want to make sure you're safe. Can't have those..." he trailed off to keep himself from saying an...offense and ungentlemanly word. "Pesky terrorists getting to you again."
He certainly seemed to have a grudge against them. Hm...

"Knight or Angel, either way, my hero," she chuckled.
She tried not to lean on him too heavily as they walked. She let him help her all the way to her house, relieved to see it amongst the others on the street. She had stopped using his arm too much when she was walking and by the time she was at her door, she seemed to be much better.
She looked at him, smiling, then found her keys in her pocket.
"Is there something I can do to repay you? I've probably got a few dollars or something?" she wasn't sure if he wanted anything, and didn't like having a debt. She would have to make sure she paid him back some how. "If you ever need any help, you can call me and let me know, yeah? I think it only fair that I help you since you've been so kind to me."
She watched him carefully, hopeful that he might give her some clue.

He, admittedly, was flattered when she told him he was her hero. As they walked to her house he was consciously aware that he was holding her up, that one of his hands was wrapped around her waist and that she was so close to him. It wasn't often that he felt this way concerning a girl.
He had been around, and had been close, to many girls before but it was a little different. For one she was older than him(he was pretty sure at least) , two he had helped her out, three she was very attractive and last but not least she seemed interested? He was surprised that his forwardness didn't turn her away, it often seemed to, but then again he was being as much of a gentleman as possible.
"Don't worry about it," he replied waving his hand at her suggestion. He would never accept money from a girl. "Well how do you feel about younger guys?" He asked giving her a sideways grin as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
It was make or break now, things could get sufficiently awkward after this.

Gently watched him, her eyebrows lifting curiously at his question. She hadn't been expecting that, at least not right away. Maybe if he had come back or they had run into each other again in her effort to repay her debt to him, but things never went according to plan, she supposed.
She grinned.
"It really depends on how young they are, doesn't it? Not that I've ever given it a thought." She chuckled at him, tilting her head to the side as she leaned on the door. Her expression was bright as ever, as it usually was. He had caught her on an off day, in that alley, when she was miserable and hurting. Now the injuries didn't seem so bad, and the shock of it all had given way to the amusement of the moment. She found him funny, and his forward nature charming, and it was difficult to focus on upsetting things with all that going on.
"Why? What are your feelings on older women?"

There were very few things that unnerved Chase, who was a fairly confident individual, and if he had to be honest he was a tad bit nervous about Gently's response to his question. Especially when he realized that he had never actually introduced himself. But he was only a little bit nervous, or that was what he kept telling himself anyway.
While he was nervous it didn't display outwardly as he remained cool, if a bit sheepish while he awaited her reply.
"The 'younger man' in question isn't too much younger," he replied casually. He was almost legal, only another month or so and he'd be legal. And it wasn't like she was ridiculously older than him...right? Well if she was she certainly didn't look it.
"As for my feelings on older women, well..." he trailed off almost suggestively before stepping towards her. "It depends on how they feel about younger men, how pretty they are and how attractive their personality is." Really, he was enjoying this too much.

Gently watched him with her sharp, sea green eyes. She looked him up and down, taking her time in saying anything or letting her thoughts be known. She did smirk though, and giggled softly.
He was a cute young man, she had to give him that, and she certainly liked his confidence.
She moved after a beat, to catch him by surprise if it went right for her, pecking him lightly on the lips. It wasn't a kiss, exactly, but it was certainly enough to tease him and leave an impression.
"Twenty four," she told him, wondering what that might mean to him. She went to her door, opening it and slipping inside, hiding behind it as she almost closed it completely. She smiled at him from there.
"Thank you again for all your help. Ring round again if you're ever in the area, you know." With that she closed the door, grinning as she leaned on it. This certainly hadn't been what she saw happening after being beaten in a fight, but she couldn't complain.

Gently's plan to surprise him was successful as she pecked him so lightly upon the lips that when she moved away he wondered if he had just imagined the whole thing but her little hide and smile thing made him sure that it had just happened. He couldn't help but grin foolishly.
When she told him the number he just shrugged, still grinning, as he shoved his hands deep into his pockets. "Age is just a number babe, once you're legal a few years doesn't matter," he retorted casually stepping backwards.
"Plan on it," he stated cocking a brow as his grin slid more into a smirk. He was determined to get a date from the pretty woman he had 'rescued' eventually. She was cute and played along nicely, something he favored in woman. This wasn't the last time that Gently would see Chase, though she probably wouldn't see him for a little while, after all he didn't want to seem like a stalker.
