"Yes I do believe I will have to steel myself and face the shame and buckle down to my lessons, thank you for your advice, and I would love to see your harness S'kor, it must be pretty big for a dragon Scarath's size?"
Lilias squeezed all of it out on one breath.

S'kor felt that Scarath had had his fill. He thought they would be leaving soon. He was surprised by the dragon's actions. Don't you want to leave? He asked the dragon. You are enjoying this talk Mine. The sun is warm here, and I do not mind chatting.

The rider grinned amused. Or perhaps its the crimson. Well that was fine by him.

"Oh I see." He pondered for something else to say. "Kind of her to take that into consideration. I wish you much luck in your endevors then as a fighter." S'kor was amused that Ca'mil backed up his remark.

He chuckled softly at Lilias. "I remember my lessons. Don't worry you'll survive. It's big enough. You'll see when you stop by." It was a chore to oil, and he dreaded having to replace it. A harness of that size takes a lot of leather.

Scarath walked over to the trio of humans and laid down behind His. Politely he extended a wide wing to provide some shade. He was pleased His had relaxed and was enjoying the company of the other two.

He looked at the Crimson and rumbled amused by her teasing. Of course, he responded blandly. His eyes whirled blue.

"It was" Ca'mil agreed fondly to S'kors comment, that was just Cheryth's way, and she supposed likely the way all crimsons worked things out...though some had a harder time of it - coming up with what was best for the both of them.

"It's not so bad" Ca'mil assured Lilas with a wry smile "And they don't last forever" She assured her - or at least hopefully not. She well recalled the days spent in lessons and ten the awful anticipation and excitement of a hatching, standing there hoping and hoping to be chosen. If Ca'mil had it her way all the candidates would get a dragon, she so hated to see those who weren't file out after every hatching.

'Not everyone is suitable' Cheryth told her 'But those who are will find theirs' She continued in typical Dragon logic. finished with her own meal she followed the bronze's example and made her way over to the group, laying down nearby and angling herself so that her head and whirling blue-green eyes were pointed in their direction.

"Well thanks guys, you have given me hope." she scuffed her shoe on the ground. And bowed her head. Which was fortunate because somebody's blue firelizard zipped over her head obviously on an important errand of some sort. He went over so fast Lilias didn't get to see what it was. She threw up her head and looked around comically.
"Did you two hear something? I could have swore I felt something touch my head, maybe it was wind?"
She glanced over at the two dragons but they looked perfectly innocent. She scratched her head in puzzlement.

Suddenly he realized that he had no idea what Lilias was learning in her lessons. He had never gone through them. He glanced back at the cause for his dragon crash course.

Scarath rumbled deeply in laughter, following His' thoughts. Would you really have forgone your spice lessons, Mine, if I had given you advance warning of what was to happen on Hatching Day? His eyes whirled fast with amusement.

He knew that he probably wouldn't have. I was a happy Trader, thank you. S'kor hear Scarath say he is a happy Rider now. His Rider. He had to admit it was true. He wouldn't give Scarath up for anything.

His attention turned back to the conversation and S'kor hoped no one noticed his lapse. "So, what are you learning Lilias?" He nodded politely to the Crimson as she came over; a movement echoed by Scarath.

An eyebrow rose as the blue flit streaked through their group. It certainly seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere. S'kor chuckled, "Aye, a blue flit late for lunch."

Ca'mil gave an amused smile as the flit zipped by - amusing little creatures, though some of them caused more trouble then anything else, it all depended on how they were raised she supposed and this one seemed like it had only been passing through. "It looked like it was going somewhere important thats for sure" Ca'mil agreed "Good thing you had your head down,I'm not sure it even noticed we were all here" She added with a slight laugh.

'There have been allot more of them around lately' Cheryth huffed slightly 'And they fly about so - it's a wonder someone isn't flown into at least once a day'

'Not all of them are bad' Ca'mil assured her dragon 'and theres no more of them now then there was before, you just got used to not having them around while we were gone' she pointed out to which her dragon didn't seem to have a reply.

To S'kor she said, "Well the interesting stuff I learn is how to care for a dragon or firelizard, things like oiling and feeding. We don't learn very much about whers at all, besides the fact that they are nocturnal and that they are related to dragons and firelizards."

"And the boring stuff is personal weyr management, harness care and how to make numbweed in an emergency, which has to be the stinkyest class on the face of Pern. They get better once they let you actually touch the riding harness instead of just talking about them."

She looked to the crimsonrider next. "You are probably right, If I had lifted my head I would have had firelizard splattered all over my face." Lilias grinned, silly flits.

"I guess they can be handy. My sister says she can get Ismay to do small tasks for her." He chuckled. "Mainly watching Dynith."

"With so many of the little critters around its good their teaching you care for them too. Hmmmm, I would have thought whers would be included; at least basic information. If your here to Impress a dragon, you wouldn't be having much interest in whers now would you? Not very effecient to teach you something you'll never use probably."

"Lilias, that 'boring stuff' is equally important to the care of the dragon. You wouldn't want your dragon living in filth do you? The harness keeps you attached to your dragon in flight. It'd be pretty messy if you fell off. As for the numbweed, you've heard of the riders going back and the ones who've been back." He nodded toward the scarred crimson.

"What would have happened if they ran out of numbweed and didn't know how to make more?" It was a horrible thought to him. To have Scarath in agony without being able to ease his pain at all. He hoped Lilias would understand.

Scarath, relay my appologies to Cheryth and her rider for using them in this example. I mean no offense.

Scarath hummed softly. Dynith's says Hers has trained their little green to be most polite. He said helpfully to Cheryth. After listening to His the bronze looked at the crimson. Mine hopes you do not take offense to being mentioned thus.

"Perhaps they are included for those who don't impress, becoming a Wher handler could be a career path some might be interested in a that point" Ca'mil pointed out. No one liked to talk about the poor candidates who didn't impress...but it did happen and it was important she thought for the Candidates to be prepared to take on another craft if it did. She didn't have much else to add on the subject of flits - she'd never had one, and given Cheryth's distaste for them she doubted she ever would. Not that she minded - she'd gladly give up flit ownership to be Cheryth's rider any day.

By the time she muddled through these inner thoughts and turned her attention back to the conversation around her she found the subject to have changed anyways. Though he wasn't entirely sure it was a good change she thought to herself after S'kor had finished speaking. She absently ran a thumb over the bit of scarring that managed to show up beneath the long sleeves of her shirt before responding "The bronze rider is right" She told the Candidate softly in a nearly haunted voice "They might not be the funnest part of having a dragon - but they are the most important when accidents happen."

'Scarath and his relay apologies' Cheryth spoke up lifting her head and extending her neck to gently bump her rider, and action with seemed to bring Ca'mil out of her memories. Starting slightly Ca'mil managed to flash S'kor and Lilias a slight smile "And they make sure you come out of such things safely"

Cheryth laid her head back down and directed her next words to Scarath alone 'Mine is sensitive about the scars, but she forgives' The crimson relayed in an apologetic tone 'Mine understands the importance of making sure young ones learn what they must and examples teach well'

"I can't believe I didn't see that before, of course I pay attention and learn I just find them a little less interesting than the other class subjects, sorry if I offended anybody," she glanced nervously at Ca'mil. She bowed her head and wished the blue firelazard was back to distract the attention off of her.

Scarath rumbled softly. Mine views the scars you all received as a badge of honour. Perhaps some day, Yours will not be ashamed to show them.

S'kor smiled at the crimson and her rider. They were good people here. He was glad that he had been chosen to remain here. The rider felt his dragon's smug acknowledgment. Just like Scarath to take all the credit. You just wanted someone to make and feed you sweets. He teased the bronze.

"No harm done Lilias. I'm glad you so easily see the point. Are you done with your chores? I can give you a lift back to the Weyr."
