Hmmmm.... Digi, I believe you're wrong here. National is referring to one single nation. International would be multiple nations.
Not that Finland has one ethnic group as their citizens. Just look at Lapland and Åland Islands.

kacisko Not that Finland has one ethnic group as their citizens. Just look at Lapland and Åland Islands. You're probably referring to the Sami people in Lapland? People who live in Åland are mostly Swedish or Finnish-Swedish as is at least half of the population in most Western coast towns (Turku, Pietarsaari etc). The Finnish-Swedish (I don't know if that's the correct term in English) have their own language even, which is a mix of both languages. It's really strange to listen to. biggrin

Yes, I meant first of all Sami. From whom the Swedish hosts got that reindeer meet I ate, I'm guessing.

Dark_Mana Ash - I'm sure you'll be able to find a job. Hell, if I can, anybody should be able to. =) Good luck with the job hunt! Thanks. I actually had an interview today and I think it went pretty well, so I'm hoping to hear back in the near future.

Also going to meet some of my co-workers and I'll get a short tour around the building. =o

Digital Malevolence No, I was claiming that National makes little sense to me, becuase usually when something is called National it deals with multiple nations, where as since its just for Finnland, National really wouldn't make sense. But then now I realize, should have figured it out sooner before Mana had to come out with it, that its not the actual name and has a different name and rather that it being called the NBI its something different. I don't think I've ever heard "national" used for something encompassing multiple countries except by accident (like the couple Canadian teams in the otherwise entirely American NBA). It's virtually always used for something in a single nation. As kas pointed out, "international" is used for multiple nations.

So I went to get my ID badge done today. I also got a short tour around the area I'll be working in. I also got to see other places than the offices. There's a gym and exercise classes, which can be utilised for 2 hours each week during working hours. There's also a sauna in the locker room that can be heated and used whenever. They have a nice and reasonably priced cafeteria. Later on I'll get a guided tour in the museum of criminal history in Finland. biggrin They feature over 6000 items including lots of counterfeit art and items used in criminal punishment. These items have been collected since the 1800s. I also learnt that they eat a lot of sweets and baked goods there. And as a new employee, I will have to bring something on my first day. biggrin They seemed like a nice bunch of people, so I'm looking forward to working there. =P

Free gym... is it like that just at your employer's or is it a standard in Finland?
I'm not even asking about the sauna - that's something you can't live without so I'm not surprised to hear about it xd

It's in the law that those who work as policemen, firemen, ambulance people and other physically demanding jobs have to exercise a certain amount of time every week during working hours. And it seems like they've extended that also to those who work in office jobs in those departments as well. Of course we don't get as much exercising time as the actual policemen, but I think it's good that even those who sit on their butts all day long are encouraged to do some exercising. =P
