Regin smiled at his words. It was good that he had a sense of humor because being saved by a old nag of a stallion would just make her feel even worse about getting lost in the first place. It was at a time like this that Regin felt very young and foolish and a bit over her head with the currant situation. Regin liked smiles anyway because if the stallion could smile so easily he probably had a very warm heart. " It's neat that you grew up at this type of place and i can't imagine it's easy living here. The desert seems like a living breathing thing. Like it's always changing, and can be kind or be very cruel to those that live upon it. But that's part of it beauty i believe," Regin whispered as she gazed off into the distance.

He too gazed into the distance, memories of his lifetime playing behind his eyes. It was funny how the mare was absolutely right about his beloved home. With a start he realized that he had missed this place with it's unpredictable sands. He'd left when his mother died, happy to be rid of the harsh life, but now, looking at the desert stretching out before him from a stranger's point of view he realized he missed it.
"Yes. That is exactly right." he unknowingly whispered aloud.
They had been traveling for some time and the sun was now in the west, casting everything in an orange glow. For just a moment he thought the distant sands were glittering and the mare in the foreground seemed to glow. He blushed as his breath caught in his throat.
Abruptly he shook himself and grumbled, "Let's get going. We're almost there, I can smell it."

As Regin looked at the stallion she thought that his eyes appeared to gazing far away.As if he was not truly gazing at his currant surrounds but seeing something quite different. Or perhaps he was seeing the desert with true emotion or a longing of remembrance. Well Regin wasn't sure but she knew if she was gazing at her birth place she would be overcome with emotion. As the sun set the last rays hit the sand and made the world appeared on fire. " Wow this is gorgeous!" She shouted to the stallion. He appeared not to be listening but gazing at her face. A blush spreading across his face but then perhaps it was a trick of the light. As he talked she listened carefully. "What a good nose you have. Lead the way. I can wait to my eyes can see water."

He smirked, "When you live in the desert you learn to smell water a mile away."
The feeling from before that made his breath catch was still lurking in his stomach so he quickly lead them up a hill and back down again. At this point he could hear the water flowing not too far away. There was a river here, and mountains loomed in the distance now. He could see the green that meant forests were only a few miles away. The advantage of the relative flatness of the land around them was you could see forever.
"Here we are, the water, as promised." he bowed, one leg extended and his head extending downwards, though he kept his eyes on her face.

Regin relief was profound as she gazed at the crystal blue water. Nothing had ever looked as beautiful as the water a true gem in the desert. Her feet slowly became steady as she lapped up the water. She placed her sore front feet in the water and sighed in relief as her weariness slowly left her. "Ah that feels so good!" She smiled brilliantly at Knuckle. "Thank you your such a lifesaver, literally," Regin giggled without intending to but in relief.

He smiled to himself as the mare drank and enjoyed the water. Knuckle knew that there was nothing so perfect as a fresh drink of water after a long day lost in the desert. He felt accomplished for the first time in a long while, how odd that all he'd done was lead someone to water.
Her smile made his mind go empty for a moment, she was really pretty when not half dead from dehydration.
"It was nothing, I was in the right place at the right time to meet you." he smiled back.
Despite having completed his self-appointed task, he found himself not wanting to leave her, "What are your plans now? Besides not getting lost in the desert again." he joked.

With the water in her system. Regin started to feel her aches slowly melt away and a surge of energy return. She gazed at the stallion, yes luck had definitely been on her side.
"Then luck was truly smiling on me. Not only do i meet my savior but he's a gentlemen as well. Hmm.. . I'm kind of missing my family but yet i think distance will do us all good. Being with them causes me sadness. I feel like the ugly duckling of both my bloodlines. Both my mother and brother have wings and while my father is wingless is doesn't seem to bother him. I guess I've never gotten over my desire to fly," Regin bowed her head in sadness. " I Originally set out on my journey after hearing a traveling storyteller describe a magical spring that would grant your dearest wish. I kind of felt that even if it was untrue perhaps their was a small chance. But my my journey hasn't been a waste if i hadn't left i wouldn't have meet lot's of interesting soq."
Regin Smiled widely at knuckle. "Some of course are more interesting then others."

Knuckle smirked, he knew he was ruggedly handsome and was used to mares reacting to his looks. Busy preening, he almost missed her reference to the old oasis that was indeed, something of a 'tourist trap'. Every year he encountered humans and soquili alike who wanted a guide to the old spring, despite it's relatively unimpressive appearance. Mention of family made him uncomfortable, his mother's death still relatively fresh despite the year that had passed. He ignored the reference, though he did feel for the mare. It was not easy being the odd one out, but then, he reveled in it most times.
"Actually, it just so happens I know the spring you are talking about. I could take you, if you want to see it. Unfortunately, it's just a little hole in the desert with some green growing around it." he offered, "Actually the legend sprouted because it's practically in the middle of the desert, and what do you wish for more than water when you're lost in'a desert?"
