"Thanks!" He grinned, glancing her over. "Wow you look classy." He added, impressed. It reminded him of sort of a civilian version of her Fuku, but with fewer feathers, and he rather liked it. "My grandmother made the sweater, my aunt made the gloves and one of my nieces made the scarf. It's got part of Jingle Bells on it, but she actually misspelled it part way through, or I'd unwrap it and show you." he added with an amused wink, adding. "Hope you're not allergic to wool. If you are I can ditch the gloves..."

He sat down again and started prying off his sneakers, crossing one leg over the other so he could try and slide his foot into one of the rental skates.

"You'd think they could design these things to be a little more comfortable." He noted. "But could be worse, they're just trying to keep people from turning an ankle." He shrugged at this random debate and added. "You'll do fine, it's like riding a bike. Besides, there's plenty of ice to put on the bruises."

She groaned at his bad joke, leaning over to nudge him playfully with her elbow before straightening herself back out so that she could slide out of her own boots and begin the process of pulling on her skates. "No bruises today... Not any that won't go away quickly, at least. This is a fun, stress-free, monster-free day." She nodded once, giving her laces a firm tug before tying off the first skate.

"I'm not allergic to wool... At least not that I know of. No one in my family knits, but my grandmother used to crochet these throw blankets. I... Actually had her teach me how to." Her face flushed as though that was something to be ashamed of and maybe had she been talking to anyone else it would have been... But she had a feeling Oddy would at least understand something like that. "I'm not all that good at it, though."

Strapping on their skates, the duo had headed out onto the ice. It was awkward at first, more on her part she was sure than on his. For all that Erik sometimes came off as a bit awkward and odd he seemed to have so much grace when it came to skating and it made her envious, even filling her with a bit of awe.

She found her own feet eventually, though, smiling brightly as she pushed away from the wall so that she could join the other skaters, sliding ahead of her friend for a moment before glancing back towards him. "C'mon, Oddy..." Her gloved hand reached out, snatching his once he caught up. It was going to be a wonderful day...

Together they'd skated for what seemed like hours, pausing somewhere along the way for laughter and cocoa to warm up. When they'd exhausted themselves properly (without fighting a youma, or anything resembling an agent of the Negaverse, she admitted quite proudly to herself)they turned in their skates, slipping into their boots once more before heading for the cafe just outside of the park.

The idle chatter and laughter continued even then, face still flushed from the cold and eyes dancing with amusement. For once, finally, Cordelia Carden felt like herself; her old self. She felt like the girl who had started out two winters ago not knowing a thing about what lurked in Destiny City's darkness... And it was good. God, it was good.

The night finished with the duo walking home side by side, Cordelia's shoulder lightly bumping against Erik's arm from time to time as if she hadn't realized just how closely she was walking to her friend. They parted ways on the street that split the direction they each had to turn in to find themselves at home. She thanked him in full honesty for the wonderful day, standing up on her toes to brush a light kiss against his cheek before turning to dash down the road towards her home just as the night's snow began to fall.
