Thinking silently for a moment, Ellion sighed tiredly before saying, "Come into the study with me, I'm weary from my trips today. Let the servants finish dinner, I need to speak with you longer." Leading the way into his private study where the only servants allowed in were those who cleaned and those who served him food and tea between meals. Walking over to a beautiful satin-covered couch, he took a seat on one end and motioned for the angel to sit at the other.
Continuing their conversation, he asked, "So, the main problem with keeping him here on earth is twofold. On one hand, he will die if he does not receive proper teaching, and angel which are capable of teaching him what he needs to know are extremely rare on earth. One the other hand, his merely staying here exposes him to the danger of being corrupted and thus falling, instantly bringing judgement day upon humans and most likely dooming us all considering how society is currently fairing." Although he benefitted from the current state of affairs as much as any other noble, Ellion knew how corrupt society had become, and felt they would fail whatever judgement may be cast upon them.
Falling silent again, Ellion waited a bit before proposing a solution. "If I were able to obtain a teacher, wouldn't it be enough to keep him here in the mansion until he came of age? I mean, other than myself, the servants, and the other angels no one comes and goes as they please in this house, and even then I'm the only one with access to every room. Would it not be possible to keep him sheltered here?" Thinking for another moment, he added, "And couldn't any angel at all teach him a few things at least during the search for a proper teacher? I mean, things like human language and...well, I'm certain there's something else any adult could teach him.
"Barring the notion of returning him to Heaven, what do you think would be the best course of action? I am intrigued by him, and I do not intend to let him go should I be able to avoid it." While he desperately did not want to lose the investment he had spent on the boy already, Ellion also feared what might happen if the boy missed out on fulfilling his "duty" as the woman had put it. If he died it would be even worse than having just let him go back to Heaven. When an animal escapes its cage there may be a ruckus in trying to recapture it, but at least it's still out there somewhere to retrieve. He did not want to be responsible for whatever happened when judgement day did come.

The female angel nodded once more when Ellion beckoned her to come with him to his study. Giving a last minute instruction to the servants about dinner the woman followed her master. When motioned to she took her seat and listened to the man’s new questions and concerns. “I am unsure if he has a duty as of yet many younglings do not but there is the occasional one that does.” The female cut in.
“There may be some hope yet, the youngling’s care taker may come for him. It may be possible that his care taker is a teacher that in itself is not uncommon.” The female explained. “If you were able to obtain the youngling a teacher who also acts as caretaker then the youngling would be better off could should you truly choose to keep him here on earth. However that is not the only thing that needs to be done should you choose to keep the youngling here. He must not consume anything that has been killed. Unnatural death is one of the greatest forms of corruption for younglings. Only demons have the taste for things that have been killed. There is also the problem of the staff here, many of them take liberties with we angels they can in no way harm him or touch him. It is best he only have contact with one human to limit the corruption in that case I will assume it to be yourself. Sheltering him in a room will also not work, younglings require as much play as lessons and sunlight is a necessity it is what helps them grow.” She already knew the man before her did not wish to send the youngling home if he could help it. The only thing she could do now is give him the information that would give the youngling the best chances.
“Human speech will come more naturally the more time he spends here, he just has to listen to it, there is no real need to teach that. Younglings while learning it listen to conversations that happen here on earth.” A soft knowing smile graced the angel’s lip hearing what she had already guessed from the man. “There will be more to learn if the youngling progresses as he should but for the moment that is the information needed to keep him on the right track.”

Nodding in recognition of her caution, Ellion asked, "How long does it usually take a youngling to find their purpose? Does it come naturally with time, is it an epiphany they receive after so much training, or are they explicitly given it by a superior? Also, if one does not have a duty yet, will they eventually die from not having one at all?" If it were possible for the boy to continue living happily without a duty, perhaps bringing in a teacher would not be such a problem. Still, Ellion admitted it would be wrong to deny the young angel something which his kind needed to become fulfilled individuals.
Taking her suggestion into consideration, Ellion was nonetheless quick to point out, "Even if his caretaker does come down to earth, who's to say it won't be captured the instant it sets foot in this realm, as so many others have been? If that happens, there's little chance I'll ever be able to find them. Although, the auction house in the marketplace does owe me a favour or two. Perhaps I could ask them to keep a look out for a specific angel if the boy were able to provide me with a good enough description. What do you think, is it likely the caretaker will come down sooner rather than later?" Along with the concern of time, Ellion worried what would happen if this caretaker were not passed through the auction house. Certainly there were other circles who traded and sold in angels, ones whose transactions were less well recorded.
Just as he was thinking about the troubles of merely finding this mentor, something that had been mentioned earlier struck him. "Wouldn't this caretaker merely send the boy back to Heaven the instant they were brought together? Or any teacher for that matter. Certainly they would try, knowing what risk he is at here on earth." While ever time he complained of the troubles of keeping the boy on earth Ellion felt a twinge of guilt at how selfish he sounded, his inability to relinquish his new interest prevailed. If humans were doomed to judgement day in one way or another, he at least wanted to feel fulfilled before the time came. It was his own comfort.
As the woman went on listing the things the boy must be protected from, Ellion's spirit finally began to break. Raising this boy sounded like even more troublesome than birth itself. "Okay, so he has to eat vegetarian meals. That shouldn't be too much of a problem considering meat is pricier than fruit and vegetables anyway." When the woman mentioned problems with the other servants, Ellion's brow furrowed and he asked, "What do you mean by 'taking liberties'? Why haven't I heard about any of this up until now?" A bit indignant that something improper might have been happening in his own home without his knowledge, he calmed himself down for the rest of the conversation, not wanting to appear out of sorts to an angel.
"Well, the yard is large enough. With his mentor and I present I see no reason to let him outside when he likes. My room also has a large balcony. I suppose he can use it whenever he likes." As their conversation came to a close, Ellion sighed. It seemed he had picked up more than he had bargained for that day in the market, and he would certainly have to pay for it now. "I suppose I'll just have to put an ABP out to the auction house for now. I'll ask the boy for details when he wakes up." Standing after thinking in silence for another moment, Ellion stood and waited for the woman to follow him to the door. "Thank you for your time here. I promise I will not forget your cooperation."

"It is hard to determine when a youngling might find their purpose, most don't do so until they've reached adult hood in our terms. I am usure what happens if one never gains a duty as far as I know it has never happened. We just know our duty when it has been given, no one tells us." The female explained softly. "I believe however that the youngling you have obtained already has his duty even though he may not know what it is, it is no concidence his coming to earth."
"There is a good possibility his caretaker will be captured. Your race has tracked our areas of descent and are capturing all of our kind that way. You will just have to watch for the caretaker, the youngling will know what he looks like. The caretaker will come down sooner rather than later however, it is a caretakers job to guide the youngling into adult hood. It is their duty." she explained here tone quite serious. "I doubt either the caretaker or the teacher when they appear will attempt to take the youngling back. It is far too obvious he has a duty here." At the question of what liberties his people had been taking the female angel gave a sigh pushing some hair from her face.
"Many of your help assume because we have so many feathers that you won't miss a few here and there. They have also been courting some of the angels here with promises of safe keeping should they come away with them. Those that have been stealing feathers have been doing so at night while we sleep. If you have noticed many angels have taken to sleeping in groups now." she explained with another sigh. She smiled hearing the thanks as Ellion stood. "You worry about the care of the youngling. I know it seems like much but once you find the caretaker then they will take care of most everything. Safe tidings then." She smiled once more waving him off.

Disappointed yet not surprised at what his servants had been doing right under his nose, Ellion knew exactly what to do about it. While he didn't mind what the angels did in their free time, for the servants of the house to be taking advantage of something he was supposed to be holding for sale was distasteful and bad business practice. Walking over to his desk and writing a note down on an open notebook, he sat back down on the couch to think over everything he'd just heard. While it was a lot to take in, much of it seemed rather intuitive considering all the facts.
Leaving the study, he mentioned the boy's dietary restrictions to the head chef of the building and asked him to begin looking into vegetarian dishes on the side. Afterwards, he flagged down one of the general servants and gave them an order to run to the market, handing over a small bit of cash to pay for it. As the girl hurried out of the house without a second thought, Ellion glanced up the fine flight of steps leading from the foyer to the second floor where his own room and the boy's room were. Resisting the temptation to peek in, he returned to the study until it was time for dinner.
As it was just getting to be bed time, the servant he had sent out to market returned, out of breath but with exactly what he had asked for. Patting her in the shoulder, he led her into the kitchen and had the chef make something especially for her, seeing as she had been on the errand while the others had eaten. Asking a few of the servants, Ellion found his way to the angels' quarters and entered without knocking. Seeing the surprised looks, he checked the inside of the doors and was glad to see they had large, firm handles rather than knobs.
Smiling at the group, he pulled out the package the girl from earlier had brought him and held up a heavy pad lock for all of them to see. "Earlier today I learned that the servants of this household have been taking advantage of some of you in disgraceful ways. As a result, I would like to present you as a group this lock and key, which I think you will find perfect in securing the only door to this room. Using it at night should keep anyone else out, but be sure not to lose the key or there might be even more trouble than before. Also, don't mention this to the servants," he added, pondering nervously on what they might do if they felt they were being accused.
Handing the lock over to an older male angel and the key over to the girl he had been speaking to before, he backed up a bit before saying, "Perhaps you have merely become accustomed to humans treating you like pack animals, but let me assure you that I understand you have feelings, wants, and needs just as humans do. I suppose this is why I have not heard of the issues present in the house before, but I want to be perfectly clear now. If anything ever happens within the walls of my house that bothers, disturbs, or upsets any of you, please bring it to my attention. I like to run a tight ship, but I can't have my eyes and ears everywhere at once. I ask your cooperation in making your stay here as enjoyable as possible, though I'm sure that's relative. Thank you and goodnight."
Feeling good about things, Ellion finally headed up the grand staircase to his room, pausing outside for a moment as he glanced at the door next to his own. Deciding it would be best just to check on the boy before resigning for the night, he carefully and quietly opened the door, blocking most of the emerging shaft of light with his own shadow.

The head chef didn’t seem the least bit annoyed about the requests in the menu for the boy. Many of the angels in the house much preferred vegetarian dishes to those that contained meat. It was really no hassle for him to make one more dish for a smaller angel. The chef smiled at the servant when Ellion brought her in asking him to make something special for her. “Of course sir.” The chef answered before he began chatting with the female servant finding out what she would most prefer to eat.
Angels leapt up in surprise when their door opened without a knock. They each knew that every one of them that were in the house had returned to their quarters for the night so it made the anxious when the door opened. They were quite surprised to see the master of the house enter their quarters and while some settled down others still remained on alert not taking very many chances. Surprise was even more evident when Ellion began to explain the purpose of his presence in their quarters. Many relieved looks crossed the faces of the angels as the lock was explained. They could be safe from the pain and fear of being attacked at night now.
“Thank you once more.” The female Ellion had spoken with earlier thanked smiling gratefully as he had handed her the key. “I promise we will use you gift well. We much appreciate everything your doing for us by caring for us the way you are. The humans that had us before did treat us like animals and many others of our kind our not treated well. We are glad to know that we are cared for.” She said before plucking a feather from her own wing with a small wince. “May this help you in finding the youngling’s caretaker or teacher, though I believe one may appear sooner than you think.” She said handing the feather to Ellion.
The young angel was not alone in the room however when Ellion opened the door and entered the room. A slightly bigger angel sat just behind the youngling with Kai’s head in the angel’s lap fingers running gently through the hair. “You are the human who has purchased the youngling?” the angel questioned revealing the gender to be female. While she was not too much bigger in size then Kai her wings were nearly triple the size of the boys. ( I made the caretaker female so his teacher which will be in the ‘black’ market will be the male angel and pair for Ellion)

Thanking the female before he left, Ellion promised, "I won't waste such a gift. Do let me know if there are any more problems."
Upstairs, seeing that Kai was not alone, Ellion almost reflexively called for a servant, but stopped himself after hearing the woman's words. Seeing her massive wings, he stepped into the room and flipped the lights on, closing the door behind him. Looking the female angel over once again, Ellion composed himself before answering.
"Yes, I did. From the looks of things, you haven't been caught yourself, or otherwise you've managed to escape some how. Either way, you are either extremely clever or extremely lucky. I presume you are either the boy's caretaker or his teacher from what another angel told me earlier." Not moving from the spot where he stood, Ellion crossed his arms over his chest, ready for whatever the woman wanted to throw his way.
"I can only assume you are here to first ensure his well being and second to return him to heaven," Ellion surmised, wanting his intentions and understandings to be perfectly clear. At this point there would be no gain in beating around the bush. "I really do wish to keep him here, if it makes any difference to you. You're welcome to stay yourself if you really care about him. Honestly, it saves me the trouble of having to look for you. Just earlier today I spoke with another angel about the proper way of raising the boy. It certainly was enlightening," he mused, recalling the scarcity of literature on the subject.((Hurk. Kind of short, sorry. ;>.> Ah, good idea. An anima and an animus.))

“I shall.” The female said smiling brightly as Ellion accepted her feather she had given him.
The female angel blinked only momentarily adjusting her eyes to the sudden light. The light revealed the female angel, her long brown hair pulled back in a braid to keep it from her face and her pure white gown was the only thing that adorned her body. Yet she seemed as though if Ellion made any sudden movement he would find himself in quite a danger.
“I am much more careful and opened a direct passage to my charge as is the right as his caretaker. I’m afraid his teacher though may have met the fate as many other angels that have come to earth. The fool is still too young to plan ahead. I am not here to take the youngling back, it is no mistake he has come to earth. He shall remain here for the time being until his task is complete, I shall not allow you to raise the boy, you may have contact in return for allowing us a safe place.” The female growled. At the growl the young angel stirred opening his amber eyes. “Hello Ai er.” The female said soothingly.
“Vakha,” the young angel gasped with surprise moving to sit up only to grasp his head as a bit of dizziness consumed him.(Anima or animus for what?)

At little annoyed at the insolence the girl was showing him in his own home, Ellion knew the circumstances which had brought her here were difficult and forgave it. "Are you talking about the teacher or the boy?" he asked at the amusing insult, wondering how old this woman really was. Clearly angels aged differently from humans, or at least her attitude and appearance suggested as much.
Chuckling at the impudent demands being made, Ellion smirked. "Fine. If you're so protective and concerned for his wellbeing, you may stay as you like here. Honestly, your arrival and decision to stay has saved me a great deal of effort, as now I don't have to go through the trouble of trying to figure out how to raise the boy myself." Crossing his arms over his chest, Ellion raised an eyebrow as he thought about the evolving situation. "However...you believe his teacher has already come to Earth and been captured? If that's true it will make everything infinitely more difficult. Unless..." just as he seemed to have his work cut out for him, Ellion was struck with an idea.
"Would it be possible to locate an angel using a wish from another's feather?" While it seemed odd to use one angel's feather to find another, unless the female knew how to locate the teacher there was little choice. From what the other female angel had said that day, the teacher would be invaluable in raising his newfound project.((I just meant that Kai has a male and female half watching out for him, since his caretaker is female and his teacher is male.))

“I was talking about the child’s teacher. He was foolish and did not plan ahead when he found out Kai had fallen to Earth and been captured. He bolted off with out thinking and descended and now I’m sure he has been captured.” The female said surely. The female seemed please when Ellion gave into her demands on caring for the boy and living arrangements. The human almost seemed glad to pass of the responsibility to her and she shook her head, humans were lazy creatures. “It can make it difficult yes, hush Ai er, we will find him.” The female angel hushed softly to the youngling when he began to grow a bit frantic about his teacher.
She looked up surprised when the human questioned if he could find an angel using another’s feather. “Yes it is possible to find another angel using a feather. Using another’s feather just requires the requesting of help from the feather with the idea of who you want to find in mind.” The angel explained. “However for a human to use it such a way it would need to be given from an angel willingly not taken as you humans are so prone to do.” She scolded.
“Vakha, E ú-'ar hired râd?” Kai questioned sitting up looking at the angel before looking to Ellion. “can you find him, please.” Kai begged softly.
“Yes Ai er, he is lost for now.” The female answered still petting the younglings hair as he sat up.

Smirking at her thinly-veiled insult, Ellion said, "Well, I suppose I'm in luck, then. Just a few moments ago one of the female angels downstairs gave me a feather after I provided them with a lock and key to their room. Apparently some trouble with the human servants had slipped past my eye, but I've righted it now. I'm assuming I could use such a feather for this?" he asked, pulling it carefully out of one of his pockets so as not to bend it.
When the boy asked him with such pleading eyes, Ellion smiled reassuringly. "I will certainly do whatever it may take to bring him here. Believe me, it benefits me just as greatly to locate him as it does you. Everyone will be the happier with him under this roof as well, so first thing tomorrow morning, when all three of us are awake, I shall use this feather to locate him. Once we find him, I'm certain it's only a matter of some smooth talking and a handful of coins before he'll be with you again. What do you think, Madam? Is my plan sound?" he asked, teasing and wanting an honest opinion at the same time. As stubborn and prideful as he was, he needed guidance in matters relating to the angels, a subject he ruefully knew so little about.
"I'm sure there's a good chance he's either still in the hands of a trader or otherwise purchased by someone with no real regard for him as an individual. Am I to pay his price, I'm certain none will object," he said, although mostly strategizing to himself. "I'll need the two of you to come along to identify him for sure, of course. I don't want to leave anything to chance or guesswork on my behalf. I'll not be made a fool of," he warned, hoping it was clear how serious he was about the matter.
Thinking to himself for a moment, he asked the female off-hand, "Would you mind describing him to me as best you can? I suppose I'll need some inkling of what he looks like if we're to properly locate him." Although he still wasn't sure how wishing on feathers worked, Ellion feared it leading them to the wrong angel should he fail to make an accurate representation of their target in his mind when he did it. His going out to find a specific angel would already be suspicious to the other humans. No telling how far they would jack up the price or how many rumors would fly if his goal became too apparent.

The female angel could not hide her surprise when the human said he had obtained a feather rightfully given to him by an angel. “A lock and key? Your servants were violating them?” she narrowed her eyes at Ellion. “Then the problem shall remain fixed, I will not stand for any of our kind to be anymore mistreated then they already are here on earth.” The female continued.
Kai looked quite relieved when Ellion said that they would go and fetch his teacher in the morning when they had all awakened. “Thank you.” Kai said softly.
“Your plan is sound, however I wonder how much other humans will have taken to him, he is still quite young. An adult yes but foolish and trusting like the young one here. He like Kai had never been to earth before. His wings never touched by another. I fear that something will not be well with him, are you prepared to deal with that human?” she questioned. “What shall you do if he is without feathers or if his wings have darkened?”“Kai would be the best to identify his teacher, I will come of course to keep the youngling safe and to provide support should you need it.” The female said noting the seriousness in Ellion’s tone. “The angel we will be looking for is of an average human height, his hair is much like Kai’s but golden in color, his eyes are green much like that of an evergreen’s leaves. He favors darker human clothing with a white shirt.” She explained drawing her magic to create an image of the other angel.
“He wear a jacket with a red hood remember.” Kai stated and the female nodded altering the image she had created of the angel.

Noticing the scornful look in the female's eyes, Ellion replied, "Now now, it was no fault of mine as far as I know. It had never been brought to my attention until just the other day when I happened to be discussion the boy with one of the female angels around the house. Before then I'd had no inkling. I told them that if there was ever any other trouble that I should be alerted at once, and while understand their reservations in telling me about this problem, it isn't as though I knew and ignored it. I may trade in angels, but I certainly treat them better than other humans. Don't lump me in with those who would skin them alive for their own desires," he warned, hoping she realized his honesty.
Listening with interest to her projections of the worst possible scenarios, Ellion thought about it for only a brief moment before shrugging his shoulders. "Have I much choice? Regardless of his condition, I need him here for the boy's sake, and I'm certain whatever state he's in he won't want to shirk his duties. If anything I'll get a discount on him for whatever abuse they've put him through." When asked what he would do, Ellion said. "What could I do other than let him rest? He'll be staying here with two of you, of course, thought there's scarcely room in here for another bed. He can have his own room, if he likes, it isn't as though anyone else lives on this upper floor with me.
"As for his wings...it's no concern of of mine. If he's in pain I'll do whatever I can to comfort him, but as I said before, it isn't as though I'm an expert on such things. I'll just do what I can."
Staring intently at the image before him, Ellion did his best to remember the important details, wanting to be able to clearly recall it when the time came to use the feather he'd been given. When he felt he had a good idea of it, he nodded and said, "Thank you. I'm sure we'll be able to pick him out of a crowd now. So, why don't the two of you go to sleep now? The bed should be large enough for the two of you to have ample room, no?" he asked, hoping the woman wouldn't force him to summon a servant to bring another bed in. "In the morning I'll wait for the both of you downstairs in the study. Ask any servant and tell them I summoned you, they all know where it is. Sleep well," he said flatly before leaving for his own room.
Certainly they would have an eventful treasure hunt the next day. He only preyed they wouldn't have too much trouble.

The female angel listened as Ellion explained the circumstances that he had been able to find out that those of her kin had been being abused by the humans in his home. From the way it sounded he did care for the angel’s well being even if he still wanted their feathers and the power that came with it. “So you do…” the female angel noted when Ellion said he treated the angel’s in his dwelling better than most humans.
“Humans have always been given a choice, while fetch Kai’s companion is a nice gesture it is not needed. I have the skills needed to teach the young angel what he needs to know to become an adult. There are two conditions that cause an angel to not fulfill their duties, the first is if they are physically incapable and the second is if they have fallen.” The female explained. “Your world is so full of taint now, combined with any abuse our companion may have suffered could cause him to fall. If such a thing has happened he must not come in contact with Kai.” She said sternly. “If he remains unfallen another room would suit him fine, I am used to rooming with the young one however.” The female angel nodded when they were allowed to rest, recalling her magic used with a wave if her hand the image she had conjured dissipated.
Kai did not look relieved at the females words when she said that his teacher was unneeded. “Please… don’t… don’t not get him because my guardian can teach me. He is very dear to me and I believe given the chance he will be dear to you too.” Kai begged softly. Sleep did not come as easily to the young angel as he worried for his mentor, in the morning he was up as soon as the sun hit the sky waking his guardian they both made their way to the study.

After his breakfast,Ellion retreated to his study, waiting for the two angels upstairs to come find him. In the time he had, Ellion had searched the entire library for books on angels, but as he had suspected there was very little material. One book chronicled the history of angels descending to earth and of the first instances of capture and sales. The second was a generalized account of their physiology and basic care, thought the details were sketchy at best and most of it related them to humans rather than treating them as unique entities.
As he was sitting at his desk jotting down notes to himself, he heard the door open, and turned to look. Sure enough, it was the two angels being led in by a servant, and he quickly got up to meet them. "Good morning," he said, smiling amiably enough. "Now, we should start out as quickly as possible, I'm sure you both agree. Now, unless there are any objections, I plan to use the feather post haste." Pulling the feather gently out of his coat pocket, Ellion closed his eyes to recall as best he could the image the female had generated for him the night before. Making his wish with careful wording, Ellion waited for the feather to disappear and began to wonder exactly how his wish would be granted.
Only a few seconds later, a trail of faintly pink mist began to curl its way towards the door. Understanding immediately, Ellion said, "Well, I suppose that's the answer to our prayers," glancing over at the two angels to se what they thought. When he noticed they were looking at him rather than the trail, he pointed to it and said, "You see it, right? I'll bet that's going to lead us on our way...shall we?" he asked when he got no immediate answer, wondering what the pair could be thinking.
