"They are! They really like playing with new playmates." Junko giggled, rocking from heel to toe as she watched the three little ones play. At Malodore's question Junko shook her head and gave a sheepish little smile, rubbing at the back of her neck. "Ah, no. I didn't. I didn't think we'd be gone quite as long as we were so I left them back at my room with some food. I have other pets as well...I hope they all were good about the food. I know when I came back they pounced on me for attention." Poor things! She felt so bad about that, but Junko definitely would not have had it any other way; she knew her foxes would get themselves killed in Christmas Town what with how crazy energetic they already were. She was rather wary to bring them on any other trip now because of that. There was no telling what would happen if the headmistress was willing to let them loose to raid Christmas Town all on their own!
"That trip wasn't all bad though, huh? I made a lot of new friends during it! What about you, Malodore?" Junko smiled, tilting her head a bit. She had seen a lot of students during the trip that she had never seen before! And strangely enough she hadn't seen them since yet...it was rather odd.

"I certainly did," Malodore said at once, smiling faintly as it tallied its mental list of new alliances - Riley alone was worth ten such trips, and there were others too, such as that intriguing patchwork and the dragons... not to mention the samples it had managed to bring back with it! "I still question the purpose of the entire endeavor, from an official standpoint... but it was, at least, fruitful for my purposes."

Junko glanced up to see Malodore smiling, looking curious now. He made a lot of friends! That was good! Very good. She smiled. "I saw you with Riley and her dragon friend a lot, did you know them before the trip?" She listened as he made a very good point about the trip, frowning and nodding. What was the point of it all? Junko didn't get too much out of it. Was it a test? No, couldn't have been. Who would be insane enough to test their students in such a way?
...Don't answer that.
"I doubt she wanted us to steal the gifts we got when we were attacked. Maybe it was a test? Or...did you ever even see the headmistress? Or any of the other professors? I saw one on the train but I never saw him again after that until we returned." It wasn't something Junko had thought about until now! It seemed kind of suspicious now. And they never even saw Sandy Claws? What kind of leader didn't personally defend his home against a raid of Jack knows how many attackers?

"No, I did not - they were both assigned to my train car. A happy accident, you could say," Malodore replied. "Unless it was a field exercise to test our endurance and ability to survive in the wilderness... but it was very badly executed. I only saw the Headmistress briefly after the train crashed. Other than that... it was gnomes."
Ooh, Malodore was still mad at them; its tone darkened as it said the word 'gnomes'.

A happy accident? How nice! Junko smiled at that, nodding her head a bit at Malodore's observations. True, she hadn't seen the headmistress after she gave them a bit of 'debriefing'...or even before it...weird! "Maybe...she watched in secret? Or something. I'm not...sure..." Junko blinked.
"Do you not like gnomes, Malodore?" Junko herself had yet to have any actual problems with the school's gnomes, so unfortunately she didn't realize they were actually more trouble than they were worth.

"At the moment, no - the care facilities they set up for those injured during our trip were utterly inadequate." Malodore's back-blades rose a little, as if it were literally bristling at the memory. "If I hadn't had a pumpkin pill left when I re-formed there, everyone else might well have been left in misery for the remainder of our time there. I shudder to think what those injured in the train crash itself must have gone through..." It shook its head, sharply.
Then it sighed and gave Junko a somewhat sheepish look. "Mi scusi, such things are a... I believe the phrase is 'pet peeve'? ... of mine."

Junko had miraculously managed to avoid being injured badly enough to need the gnomes' first aid, but now she was considering herself lucky that she never needed such a thing. The ghoul frowned and looked back down toward the foxes and Luce. Kuro now had poor little Sayuri pinned and was yipping toward the canine to help him in his 'attack' on his sister. Sayuri squirmed and squeaked. "Ah...should...should we stop them? I can't tell if that's true unhappiness or she's just playing, still."
As Malodore apologized Junko blinked, shaking her head and smiling. "Oh, no! It's perfectly alright! No need to apologize. Everyone has their pet peeves."

"Vieni qui, Luce," Malodore ordered at once; the pup looked longingly at Kuro but obeyed, padding back to her master's side. "In case the little one is truly displeased - now she will have only the black one to contend with. And I imagine she is practiced at that?" It opened its beak in a grin. It must be pleasant to have two creatures and watch them interact with each other in addition to yourself.

There he went again with words she didn't know. Junko blinked. "What does..veeany key mean?" She asked, feeling stupid the moment she heard herself practically butcher the words she had just heard said. At least Malodore didn't seem the type to laugh at her? He was more polite than that from what she'd seen! But she watched as Luce seemed to understand and obey what was being said, her leaving getting the attention of Kuro and Sayuri. Malodore made a good point and Junko giggled, nodding and smiling. "They do this a lot. The black one is Kuro, the purple one is his sister Sayuri. She's..." She watched as Sayuri managed to wriggle out from underneath Kuro, rolling onto her back and wiggling side to side. Junko couldn't tell if she was stuck or still playing. "...She's...unique..." That was certainly one way to put it. Kuro ignored his sister for now to watch their playmate leave, his head tilting and one ear perking up while the other lowered. Why had their playmate left? She was fun! The black pygmy fox abandoned his sister to prance back to Luce.
Sayuri would be fine by herself for a few minutes. She wasn't going anywhere.

"Ah - vieni qui. It means 'come here' in Italian, the language my family speaks. Luce seems to understand my intentions, and it is a bit more natural for me to speak my native tongue," Malodore explained.
Luce wagged her tail at Kuro, though she did not move from Malodore's side just yet!

"Oh! I see...vieni qui..." Junko made a slight face as she said it again, thinking it strange for her to say. Nothing wrong with it, really...just not for her. Oh well! Though she could understand Malodore wishing to speak in what was more natural for him, smiling and nodding. "I don't speak it often, but I know Japanese! My mother and I usually only speak it around my grandmother; she prefers it. I've never heard her speak any common language words though...not sure she even knows them." She hummed thoughtfully at that and eventually shrugged it off. She had to learn it somewhere. "So is that where your kind comes from? 'Italian'?" D'oh! It seemed Junko didn't quite know as much about the human world as she could have. The place wasn't called Italian, Junko...but she really didn't know! She'd never heard this language before.
Kuro's ears were perked as he got down into a pounce-ready position, giving a foxy little 'grin' and wriggling his back end like at any moment he was going to leap at the white canine. Why did she leave? They weren't done playing! Were they?

"Italia, I believe it is... though all I know is the name," Malodore admitted. "And that they have hideous taste in cookery, but I suppose all humans must in comparison to scarelings. Other than that, well." It shrugged, making its back-blades chime together with the movement. What did any of them know of the Human World, really? Dry ancient books and stale elder plague doctor repetitions were the opposite of its interests.
Luce, for her part, wagged her tail again and raised one paw, looking up at Malodore hopefully. The plague doctor chuckled. "Very well... go ahead." Immediately, Luce sprang at Kuro in a white blur!

Italia? Huh...how interesting! She tilted her head and made a curious little noise at the mention of horrible foods, twirling a lock of her hair around her finger. The hair wrapped itself around the twirling finger but Junko paid it no mind, having grown very used to this kind of thing happening. It was an idle movement that meant no harm and slight affection, one that She always did when Junko played with her hair. "Bad food? How awful. I feel bad for the humans if their food isn't even any good..." She pouted a little at the thought though the pout disappeared as she watched Kuro try to get Luce to play.
Kuro squeaked happily as his new playmate came flying at him, rolling along the ground with her until they both collided with Sayuri. Lucky for the purple fox this was enough to push her back onto her feet, to which she yipped with joy and pranced around in a sort of celebratory act. Junko laughed. "That's so cute. I think I may need to take them inside soon though, I have work I need to do...and yourself?" Malodore seemed like he'd be the kind of student who was almost always studying. Very smart and serious and all that. She didn't meant to just ditch him but she really did need to get back to work soon!

"Sadly, yes... as always." Though the plague doctor didn't sound too sad about the prospect of homework; it sounded as if it actually looked forward to it.
Weirdo.
"Perhaps in future we could repeat this endeavor? It seems Luce quite enjoys the company of your little ones. I worry that she isn't getting enough exposure to her own kind, and your two are at least more canine than I am." As Malodore spoke, Luce flopped down on the ground, panting, her tail waggling against the earth.

He said sadly but he didn't sound sad. How interesting! Junko chuckled and shook her head at that, smiling to herself. She dreaded the homework, but the projects she had were the things she was looking forward to. She couldn't wait to get to work on her latest designs! Eeeeeeee! It took all Junko had not to start squealing with excitement and bouncing on her toes.
At Malodore's request Junko looked down at Luce and the foxes, giggling as Luce flopped down and was immediately turned into a pillow by both Sayuri and Kuro. The two foxes draped on the pup, panting as well with their tongues hanging out, their mouths open and their eyes wide. This was fun! They usually only played with each other! A new playmate was amazing to add! "That'd be fun! They usually only get to play with each other. I think they enjoyed this quite a bit." She chirped, rocking from heel to toe. "Do you have a phone number? We could set up a um..a playdate for them!" Junko knew better than to instantly assume Malodore had a phone number or even a phone since she herself didn't get a phone until recently, and even then it was given to her. She didn't get it herself. Nothing against Malodore! Just...she didn't want to assume things just in case.
