Crown was happy that Pele had either not picked up on or commented on his embarassing blush... relieved he lowered himself to the ground and roughly coverer his face by placing his hooves in front.

One..... Two.... Three.....

He carried on counting until he reached twenty, simply because he didn't want little Sophia to be on her own much longer.

...Nineteen.... ...Twenty.

Once he was done counting he called out, "Ready or not here I come." He looked around in the direction Sophia had gone... and sure enough he spotted her straight away. Sat with her head hidden behind the smallest bush he had ever seen while, it litterally only covered her head, the whole 'if I can't see you - you can't see me' concept came to mind. At least Sophia was actually hiding now, when they had first started playing she would simply closer her eyes and claim to be invisable. He smiled as he remembered.

"Oh no...." He called towards her, "...where is Sophia hiding. I do not see you...." He walked towards her, purposely pretending not to see her by looking at the bush next to her first. "No not here."

Sophia giggled as she tried to see Crown without giving away her position.... but it was funny, Crown never found her easily... Sophia was a good hider.

Crown heard her giggle and paused, pretending to figure out where the sound at come from. "I am sure I just heard a giggle just like Sophias....... hmmmmmm......" He pretended to think again and turned just in time to see her look at him, a huge grin peeled on her face. "I see you Sophia!"

Sophia giggled and got up with a jump, nearly wobbling over her own feet back onto her bottom. "Crown found me!" (Cwoooon fwonnnn me!) She looked around, "Pale?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

Crown nodded, "Yes, we need to go find Pele." He walked to her side and helped to lead her in the direction he had roughly seen Pele go. "Come on you...." He said with a chuckle.

Crowns eyes looked for any signs of Pele, she had never played this before -or so he believed- so he didn't imagine she would hid too well, still at first glance he couldn't see any sign of her... except... hoof prints?

Curious he followed them.... little Sophia wobbling happily at her side, giggling every other step calling 'Pale, Pale, Pale'.

Pele was lost in the sounds of the world. It took hearing the approaching 'Pale' several times before it registered that she was hearing Sophia and Crown approaching.

Pele got very still, her ears swiveled towards the approaching pair, but nothing else moving in the bush. She felt a small bug crawl across her haunches, but paid it no mind.

She wasn't quite sure how this game ended, but until she knew otherwise, Pele would continue to hide. For a moment she wished Spike was here to help her know what to do. Then, thinking about it, she was happy he wasn't, Spike wasn't very good at keeping quiet.

Crown couldn't see exactly where Pele was hiding, all he knew was the hoof prints lead them to several bushes near the lake. Crown had found himself here before, or at least somewhere similar.... he liked the quiet, the gentle sound of the current splashing on the shore.

He smiled, turning to Sophia and whispering; "Will you go and look the other side of this bush please Sophia?" He nuzzled her softly and watched her for a moment.

Sophia beamed up at Crown and nodded very enthusiastically before wobbling around the bush as requested. She paused to look at the water.... "Pretty" (Pwetty) Distracted it took her a good couple of minutes to remember what she was supposed to do.

With a happy chirp and a giggle she started calling for Pele once more. "Pale... Pale... Pale..."

Crown could hear Sophia, and knew she was safe... she would call or cry if she wasn't, of that Crown was sure.

He followed the hoofprints until they went no futher.... all he could see was bush to begin with, then he saw a shard of golden yellow through the trees. "Found you Pele." He said as he leaned forward and nosed away some of the prickly branches to reveal the hidden foal. He beamed down at her.

Pele blinked up at Crown. "Hello. Now what? She looked around for a moment, not wanting to stand and wade through the bushes. Spotting another 'Spike' hole, she wiggled out from under the bushes. And right in front of a chanting Sophia.

"Oh, hi!?" Pele smiled up at the younger foal. "Crown found me. He must be really good at seeking. Did he find you too?" Having seen Sophia's hiding place, Pele was quite sure he had, but it was only polite to ask.

A little more wiggling, careful not to knock Sophia over, and Pele was out of the bushes and able to stand. Of course, a rich earthy smell made her look down. It was then Pele realized just how dirty this 'hiding' was. With twigs in her mane and tail and dirt all over her legs and belly, Pele was a sight.

"Oh. I'm a mess!" Stepping a bit away from Sophia, having learned that shaking off around other only got them wet or dirty, Pele shook herself all over. Bits of earth and leaves went flying. Pele was still dirty, but not as bad as she had been.

She looked at the lake for a moment. She knew Mama would have her take a bath, but Pele still couldn't bare being in that much water. She didn't know why it was so scary, but it was and she really didn't want to bath, and bathing without Mama and Papa and Spike there to keep her safe was not something Pele was willing to do.

So, for now, she'd ignore the dirt. Turning back to Sophia, "Well, that's a little better. Would you help me find Crown?" Pele could easily see his head over the bushes, keeping an eye on both of them, but she was happy to make the younger foal feel important and needed.

Crown smiled and shrugged his shoulders. "Well we can play again or something else." He said as he watched Pele wiggle free of the bush. He lost sight of her for a moment but figured she was probably near Sophia, who was still happily singing 'Pale'

Sophia was stood on the spot, her eyes closed and her head bobbing from side to side as she sang, "Pale.... Pale.... Pale...." Then as Pele spoke she jumped back a little bit in shock, soon realisation hit and her scare was forgotten as she walked towards the brightly coloured mare Crown had been looking for. Yet, as Pele spoke of how Crown found her and then asked if Crown had found her, Sophia let a pout cover her delicate expression. She nodded, "Yes.... Crown good." (Yes, Cwooooon goooooad). Sophia was a little sad that Crown never failed to find her, but then again it was Crown... and Crown was good at everything.

She smiled again, she loved Crown. It didn't matter that he always found her. She nodded brightly at that as she looked at Pele again. "Pale not messy!" (Pale no meszzzy!) "Natural!" (Natwuel) She chirped before lowering herself to the ground and rolling quickly so that her usually white pelt was now covered in brown dirt. Slowly she pulled herself back up and beamed at Pele. "Match! Match" She called.

Then as her new friend asked for her help to find Crown, Sophia nodded enthusiatically while chirping, "Please!" (Pwease!)

When Sophia dropped to the ground to roll in the dirt, Pele's eyes went a bit wide. After all, being dirty meant getting a bath, and that was not something Pele wanted to do, ever. So Pele was always trying to avoid dirt. Watching young Sophia try to 'match' her dirtiness put Pele a bit off.

But suddenly Sophia was grinning and nodding and being totally engaging. The 'Pwease' was especially endearing. "Okay then, how about you lead the way? I'm sure he's waiting for us to find him now." Pele pitched the last sentence louder, projecting in a way she knew would make her voice ring out. If they had been surrounded by trees, she would have gotten a slight, though distorted, echo back. Pele rather liked singing to that echo when she had time in the trees. That wasn't often, apparently it was 'dangerous' if no one could see her.

Hopefully Crown had heard Pele's call and would be 'hiding' for young Sophia when they came back around the bush. With a slight nod to the young foal, Pele waited for her cousin to lead the way.

Crown could only hear mumbled words on his side of the bush.... that was until someone, Pele he believed, spoke louder as if more to him than Sophia. It took him a moment to figure out the meaning. Waiting for us to find him? Then it clicked... Pele wanted him to hide.

He scanned the area quickly, he didn't want to make it too hard, knowing that Sophia had never been the seeker before and Pele had never played before. He noticed a single large knarled tree not too far away. He trotted over to it quickly, not worrying about his hoof prints like he would have been had he been playing with Eden and Paris.

Soon he was stood by the large tree, he hide behind it, purposefully making sure that his tail, rump and maybe even part of his rear legs were visable to the younger foals. Then he simply stood still and waited.

Sophia smiled up at the slightly larger foal and nodded enthusiastically. "Lets go!" (Le goooo) she chirped with a giggle and wiggle of her rump, "Lets go!" (Le goooo)

She was excited to finally get to seek... if Crown could do it she could do it too she was sure!

Sophia followed Pele, and likely would have followed her anywhere in that moment.

Pele smiled and circled back around the bushes. She knew about where she had left Crown, so she knew where to start looking. She also knew this area, so looking around, it didn't take her long to spot Crown's protruding rear.

Turning to Sophia, "Crown is hiding, but I'm not sure where to look. Where do you think we should look Sophia?" Pele wasn't sure if the younger foal had spotted her cousin yet, but defiantly wanted her to be the one to find Crown.

If Sophia hadn't seen him yet, Pele would be happy to ask her new friend questions that lead her to look in the right area. If all went well, Sophia would have a boost of confidence and maybe an improved understanding of hiding. After all, Pele could tell Crown was leaving himself exposed, most likely on purpose. And since Sophia had hidden like that earlier, probably not intentionally, seeing someone else only half hide might help the younger foal think about her own hiding strategies.

Crown could hear them talking, and couldn't help but smile as Pele tried to give Sophia ths chance to find him. He found it.... sweet. She was a sweet girl that was for sure, with her strange habit of constantly dancing and singing..... but if Sophia liked it, then he did too.

For a moment he debated pretending to cough or sneeze.... just to give Sophia a hint of the direction she should go in.

Sophia looked around. Crown was greeny blue. Plants were green. Trunks were brown. She knew this, but still she couldn't see the greeny blue that was Crown. "I don't know." ( I dunnno no) She pouted and looked up to Pele for help before shaking her head. Crown would want her to try... Crown was always trying to get her to try. Independance (Induepandanceee to Sophia), or something like that.

So, she looked again. Lots of bushes. Water behind her. And a tree. She saw something move..... tree..... tree's weren't greeny blue? Or were they. dismissing it for a moment she scanned the area some more. "Where Crown?" (Wev Cwooon)

Pele had noticed Sophia pause when she looked in Crown's direction. The young one just must not be very confident in herself. Pele was determined to help fix that.

"I don't know either Sophia. But we need to look really hard. Because if we don't find him he'll have to stay hiding forever and then we couldn't talk to him and play with him. Let's see. Why don't you look behind the trees and I'll look in the bushes. But first, would you tell me what Crown looks like again? I havn't known him very long and I don't want to miss him." Pele smiled at Sophia. Clearly the younger foal wasn't encouraged to think much on her own, but she could do it.

With patience born of listening to the wind and leaves, Pele waited, smiling at Sophia. If she could do nothing else, Pele was determined to help Sophia find Crown 'by herself'.

Crown listened to the conversation. He couldn't make out all the words but could hear most of them.

Sophia looked up at Pele, and tried to think about it. It wasn't because she hadn't been encouraged to -she had- it was just that she was still learning, and things always seemed more difficult to her than they did for everyone else. Sophia didn't like looking silly.

She smiled and tilted her head as she spoke, "Crown is blue and green. With big wings on his back and little wings on his head." (Cwoon iii bwuee and gween. Wit bwig wings n is bakk and wittle wings n is ed.)

She looked around, convinced she would see him if she just concentrated hard.

Sure enough Sophia's eyes spotted a small... something swaying from side to side. For reassurance she looked up at Pele.

Pele waited while Sophia thought and listened to her description. "Yes, that sounds like him." As Sophia looked around, Pele let her eyes follow where the younger foal was looking.

When Sophia's eyes spotted Crown's swinging tail, Pele was sure the younger foal would run over calling, 'Cwoon Cwoon' but instead she looked up at Pele. Pele smiled at Sophia, "Did you see something?"

Pele really wanted to support Sophia in finding Crown on her own. And spending the time to help the younger foal was something she was happy to do. Pele didn't quite think like other foals, but she didn't know that, this being the first time she'd been around any others. For her, this was part of the world's song, and she wanted to help Sophia sing with it. Patience came easily to Pele, who listened to the trees creak for hours.

Sophia smiled and nodded up to Pele. "Crown! Crown!" (Cwoon! Cwoon!) Reasured she leapt into action and chased after the moving thing. As she got closer she could see that it was Crowns tail. She giggled and chirped before tugging on it playfully.

Sure enough Crown turned around to face her. "Sophia found Crown!" (Soppy-hia fwoon Cwoon!)

Crown yelped as Sophia tugged on his tail, he had been watching Pele, smiling softly at the way the other mare seemed to be trying hard to encourage Sophia to find him. Still, the pain was a welcome reminder as it brought him back to the present and away from the strange filly who confused him and made his heart flutter.

As Sophia exclaimed in delight about finding him he couldn't help but chuckle and nod before nuzzling her softly. "You sure did! What a good seeker Sophia is." He moved from behind the tree now and smiled at Pele before returning his attention to Sophia. "What would Sophia like to do now?"

Sophia thought about the question before shrugging her shoulders and turning to Pele. "Pele pick?" (Pale pwick?)
PostPosted: Thu Feb 03, 2011 8:59 am

Pele smiled, watching the two cousins interact. They were so comfortable together. Seeing how happy Sophia was to have found Crown made the waiting and encouraging worth it. Warmed from the inside, Pele listens.

Pele Pick? That wasn't what she wanted to hear. Pele didn't know any games. She knew to sing and to dance, but games? Thinking about it for a moment, Pele wondered if maybe she could make dancing or singing something they would enjoy too. She hadn't really ever tried sharing it before. Maybe she could teach Sophia some grace starting with a dance.

"Well, um . . . we could . . . we could dance. If we all danced together we could dance for the herd. It would be nice to do and it might make them happy?" Pele waited to see what their reaction would be to her suggestion. She didn't know if they would be interested or laugh at her, but she couldn't think of anything else to suggest.

Sophia looked eagerly at Pele as she spoke, her tail moving from side to side happily. "Dance! Dance! Dance!" (Dwancey!) she chirped and looked to Crown. "Can we Crown?" (Cwan weeeee Cwoon?)

Crown chuckled at Sophia's enthusiasm but found that a soft blush started to cover his cheeks. He didn't really know how to dance, not in the way that Pele was suggesting. "Of course you can Sophia." He said in all honesty, he would never stop his cousin from playing though he had to admit that he was unlikely to take part.

He turned to Pele, his blush still flaming his cheeks. "I think I will just watch. I am sure the whole herd will enjoy your performance though." Crown really didn't want to bring down their dance with unco-ordination. It was fine if Sophia stumbled, everyone came to expect that of a foal of her age and found it cute, but for Crown to do it it would be plain embarassing..... Crown wanted to be like Maion, strong, tough, relable.... he didn't want to be laughed at.
