"Kill Stonebeak?" The large bird tilted her head to the side, ignoring the small trickle of blood that had started to slide down her feathers. It had been a nasty bite indeed.
The small, desperate (and worthless) clawing he gave at her talon, it only caused Stonebeak to puff up her chest in indignation.
"I do not like these wiggling limbs!" Raptors did not have such multiple, bendable sticks attached to their bodies. A snap of her beak was was made to the left of the two claw-bearing arms.

An angry screech of pain immediately followed as his white fur turned a bit red, and the little ferret swung his right paw blindly, hoping to strike her face.

Stonebeak was thinking quickly now, adrenaline had made her motions faster and her excitement high.
Kill, kill, kill her little mind went.
When the paw missed her head, Stonebeak reached down and snatched at it with her beak, jerking her head as she lifted her foot.
If successful, he would be flung a distance away, weak, and maybe quiet! Finally quiet! She liked it when they went quiet.

It was almost sickening, seeing the way he bounced as he hit the earth, without his usual mid-air flip to right himself. Instead, Baneberry landed hard, lying there for a moment before he got to his feet.
Finally, a made, angry rush. "You're mean! I hate you, then!" He threw himself at her, using up almost all his young energy.
Was he... Crying? Maybe.

Stonebeak was already waddling her way over when the small, greyish blob that resembled a ferret turned into a blur.
"No eyes! Stonebeak says no eyes!" There were claws aiming for all sorts of painful places and her beak was there, too, blindly grabbing at every area that hurt.
"Stonebeak would like not to have to kill you! I will be in trouble!" It was yelled out between these frantic snaps as she hopped from foot to foot in unavailing anguish.

"I'll eat your eyes, then!" Was the answering shout, even as his scratches became weaker and weaker. Quickly, they died off all together, and even though he lay limply on the grass, his tearful tone was still angry.
"I really would eat 'em, too."
Another, louder sniffle, and he shielded his little eyes with red-tinged paws.

The raptor did not find the talk of eating eyes pleasant. It was nearly unpleasant as that stratchy, grating sound of abnormal talking.
It sounded like sadness. Sadness was another thing that Stonebeak did not like.
There was a moment of awkwardness, where nothing was said. She could see the ferret moving in the grass, just barely, and carefully approached.
"You will stop crying now," she ordered as she reached out a feathered appendage and tapped his shoulder with its tip.

Baneberry shrugged off her wing with a rough shake of the shoulder, burrowing further into his own fur and whimpering to himself. It was all quite sad, really.
Sniffling away his tears, hard, he spoke to himself, ignoring her command to stop crying. "I lost the fight, and now I won't get the secret!" A shudder wracked his little body.

In Stonebeak's opinion, it was all very awkward, really.
She stood there as he attempted to keep from wailing (it was not very successful, mind), and went on to explain his failures. If she had been able, she would have frowned.
"You can still have a secret," she began very quickly. From the wing that had been shrugged off, she tugged free a long, gorgeous specimen of a feather. It was presented to the crying ferret. "It will be its secret it lost. It and Stonebeak's."
Problem solved.

"Y-you promise, then?" It was a throaty, hopeful warble, and he peeked out of his paws to see the feather. One paw hesitantly reached out to grip the quill of the thing, securing it in his grasp.
She wouldn't tell anyone?!

Promise. That was one of those things she had to hold to, wasn't it? Like eating every day. And rules.
Silence.
Then, her beak opened and she let go of the feather. The raptor took in a deep breath and then let it out with an eyeroll towards the night sky and the words, "Stonebeak promises." She hadn't wanted to say it, but there it was.

An almost evil, gleeful little cackle burst from the ferret as he completely dropped his hands, showing now dry eyes. Bouncing around a bit, he did an excited dance with his new feather, waving it about in the air.
"My feaaather~ my feaaather~" He seemed struck with inspiration, and continued to sing, "Stonebeak and Baneberry~ Best friends quite merry! Birdbutt's kinda scary! Carry, fairy, dairy! I'm always quite contraar--" He was caught off as he stepped on a pebble wrong, and winced, pouting as he kicked the offending stone away.
"Stonebeak!" His tone was commanding, and he pointed off into the trees. "It is time for my supper! You'll take me home, then, and we'll play tomorrow!"

What!? She hadn't agreed to that!
"Stonebeak does not feed rodents. I eat rodents!"
Giving an unruly screech, the raptor leapt from the ground and beat her wings. Flying at night was dangerous, but it would be worth it to escape.
One, two, three, four wingstrokes and she was off the ground and away. She did not look back.

Baneberry pouted at the night sky for a moment, then shrugged, propping the feather on his shoulder like a rifle as he marched his way home.
