I thought that Lutherans were from Catholicism. That's what I was told on Reformation.
Actually, all Christianity indirectly comes from Catholicism. Christian used to be synonymous with Catholic until the Reformation when, yes, after years of brutal warfare in Germany, Lutherans were recognized as Christains. Then of course, came the Calvinists (we call them Presbyterian I believe) and not long after Henry VIII decided he would break off from Catholicism and make his own church, the Anglican or "Church of England" just so he could divorce his wife. Henry was a sad little man.
I'd have to slightly disagree with you. *bows* Gomen.
All "Christianity" comes from Christ!
Hehehe, I had to.
Also, The orthodoxy considers themselves the oldest church, and the churches in the middle east governed themselves when the Catholic church was the "only" church. The Syrian, Coptic, Etc Orthodox churches are hardcore archaic; I'd consider them the first organised churches with a hierarchy.
(I thought about converting for a while!)
The differences between russian orthodox and greek orthodox and syrian orthodox etc is most frequently no more than language. So you can say the Orthodox church is the only one to last from the apostles to the modern day without sweeping internal changes or...really any changes at all.
