Atiya's initial thought was that he ought to be thrown down hard for such an attitude, but as the initial flash of anger subsided she heard herself say "I just wonder what could have brought you to this." She nudged the squirrel to go wait on the bank, then stepped forward toward the stallion, following him at a respectful distance. "I don't know if you want this to end, ever...but if you do, know that what you just did shows me that it isn't hopeless." She stopped walking as she said the last two words, not wishing to anger him by following.
She flipped her mane back out of the way - almost defiantly - and waited to see what he would do.

The stallion came to a sudden halt. His frame froze stiff and in one very slow motion did he turn his head and if looks could kill, the mare would have been pinned by the throat with one, forceful hoof. His glare stared her down, his body turned and he found his body moving on it's own, tempted and egged on by the foolish mare before him. If one was wishing for conflict, boy was she about to get that wish. He stopped before her, in her defiant flick of mane, a smirk crawling a cross his lips testing her ability to cope with him, pushing his head towards hers as he carried on moving closer, backing her up unless she chose not to move onward.
"Hopeless?" He hissed, "No, hopeless is exactly what it is and if you think any differently then you are a very poor judge of character." He snorted out huffs of warm breath as it burst to her skin he was so close. Not even a step away from her, hoof a mere nudge away from hers, his ears were forward and his glare still gazed down in to her eyes almost as if it was trying to tear down in to their very depths and eat away the soul.
"What did bring me to this? Oh wise one?" He stepped closer, nudging her back with his knee in every step to force her backward. "Please enlighten me, what could I do to change? huh. Not very accepting are you princess?" He paused and lifted his head higher, looking down the end of his nose at her with one eye as the other was once again covered, more in distaste and washing away the sight of the mare.
"We are who we are. What right are we to change the course of nature. A shared hobby. Don't take it personally-" He shrugged. "Or do, I don't care. Just don't preach to me like some naive underling who thinks the world can burst glitter bugs and rainbow unicorns out of every orifice."

Atiya met his gaze, and as she did a reckless courage bubbled up in her. Her pink eyes became fiery, confident. She hadn't been this sure of herself in a long time. "You think I'm afraid of you. Hah! You won't even stand up to yourself." She realized that this last piece could cause him to erupt rather violently, so she watched his eyes for intent. "Course of nature? I doubt it. And it's only hopeless because you refuse to face it." She took one step back, having made her point. "Hell, if you don't want it to change, I won't hate you for it. I just wanted you to know it's possible." Through all that, she didn't break eye contact. The whole thing was a very bold move for her, but she didn't flinch.
She was, however, fully aware that he was agitated enough to possibly attack her. She kept a watch such as a boxer does with an opponent - hawklike but unafraid.

At the mares words, Awan snorted defiantly. He refused to believe what she was rambling on about. She was one of those 'deep thinkers' who thought the world was ruled by philosophy and BS. He stared her down, surprised she had been strong enough to keep his eye contact, to hold it and she didn't back down once, which caused the stallion to smirk. He could respect that about her at least.
"My, my we have a temper now, do we?" He snickered lightly. "I refuse to face it? HAH. Shame on you. How can I refuse to face it? I have faced it, I know what I am doing, or else I wouldn't be doing it. Isn't that what facing something means? It's not a fear, it's something I DO." His eyebrows narrowed inwardly till they knitted together, eyes holding a glare. In some way, the mare did speak sense but he was oblivious to the parts that did. His cocky attitude just diverted it away.
"By the way, babe. I never said you were afraid of me. So you wrapped that little pickle up all by yourself." He laughed lightly under his breath, expression smoothing out to a calmer, more lazy and laid back state. He flicked his tail behind him, wondering what else she may have to say for herself.

"If you don't want to change it, that's your problem. But it does bother you slightly, or you wouldn't have turned away from my little friend." Atiya slowly backed up a few steps, still watching without fear, to release the pressure. It was a deliberate move; she wished to give him space to relax a little. Her point was made. Whether he listened or not was his choice. And anyway, she figured, he'd probably think about it later...with disdain or hope, she didn't know, but she'd said her piece.

"I guess it is my problem, one that doesn't involve anybody else poking there nose in to it where they don't belong." He stated, he had already bombarded her with what had made her back off, though she was still being stubborn about it. She was still here. He rolled his eyes at her and with that took the chance to move on to his path out of this encounter. "Now, you'll have to excuse me, I have better things I could be wasting my time on than you."

Atiya snorted. "Suit yourself. Demo, you can stay with me. Come on." It was a sad little squirrel that clambered back on top of her, but a much more confident mare that backed out of the encounter. She wasn't so sure about turning around right then, but she would let him on his way if that was what he wanted.
