Sasha decided to climb onto the windowsill exactly next to Mel's bed, and layed down, blocking her veiw. "Really, Sasha? Really?" she asked, annoyed.

That was when Adrian noticed the window across from his. He couldnt see Mel, but he could see Sasha. "Look Shadow, another kitty. Maybe if its nice you can be friends." Shadow just mewed and pawed Adrians hand, in an insistant manner. "You dont need friends, as long as you are being petted huh boy?" Adrian grinned and petted Shadow.

Sitting up, Delmelza gently lifted Sasha out of the way("Mew!)so she could see Adrian again. The cat instead curled up next to her, giving her free sight of Adrian.

Adrian recognized Mel from earlier, and smiled at her. He lifted a hand, waving hello.

Mel's eyes widened when he waved. She wanted to pull down the blinds so he couldn't see her, but that'd be rude, and he might not be nice to her anymore. Slowly, she gave a very tiny, shaky wave, and a small, weak smile.

Adrians smile grew, but was a little surprised at how... weak, her response was. Maybe she was jus shy. Or maybe, she was isolated like he was. At least Adrian had a few years worth of boarding school on him, and therefor some friends. As he watched her, he wished he could communicate with her some how.

Mel opened her window. There was a screen behind it, so that Sasha wouldn't get out and so that bugs and such couldn't get in. But there were tiny holes, so it allowed sound to pass. She motioned for him to do the same.

Adrian understood what she meant and opened up his window, also with a screen in front. Shadow who had fallen asleep mewed with annoyance and moved to the bed. Adrian moved closer to the window. Now that he had the chance to talk to her, he wasnt sure what he would say. "Uh, hello. Im Adrian." The classic first line.

Sasha jumped onto the windowsill and layed down. "Stop sitting there, Sasha." she said, annoyed and removing the cat from it, instead holding her in her arms. "This is my kitty, Sasha." she explained to Adrian.
"Mel, who are you talking to?" called a voice from outside her door; it was also in Adrian's earshot.
"Uh, um, uh, um, um, uh-my dolls!" Mel said quickly, fear etched across her face.
Silence for a moment.
"Where did you get dolls?"
"Um....Daddy gave them to me!"
"Dad's too drunk to even talk."
(Adrian can hear all this, by the way :3)

Sensing this is a good moment to stay silent, Adrian just listened. His eyes narrowed, recognizing the voice from earlier. So, this wasnt just some girl who was doing volunteer work, or really working. She was the Walkers daughter. Adrian wished he could help her, but the last thing he wanted was to get Mel in trouble. He stood, and idea striking him. He went out of view, and came back a moment later with a pad of paper and a marker. In clear writing it said: Got them for me the other day, as a reward for helping him out? Imaginary friends?
Your cat?
Would Mom buy it?
Adrian was hoping shed get what he was trying to say. He was giving her suggestions that might get her out of trouble, and he hoped they would work.

"You wouldn't happen to be talking to that guy outside earlier, would you Mel?" said Mike's voice.
"No!" Mel said quickly, then looked at Adrian and saw the suggestions. "Cousin Emily grew out of them, so Aunt Olivia gave them to Daddy, and he gave them to me!" she lied quickly. "You know that package on the doorstep the other day? That was them."
Another silence.
"If you say so." Mel heard footsteps, indicating he was walking away. She sighed with relief.

Mel looked at her and nodded "yes". She looked both relieved, and scared. That had been a close one.
