"Hmmm." Xavier answered, a little thoughtfully. "Cake too, I think. Did you want a milkshake ? Or just plain milk ?"
One didn't eat cake without drinking milk. And milk was good for young ladies who fancied bunnies, yes. Chocolate milk with chocolate cake would probably be overkill, but if that was what Ainsley wanted, he would happily let it slide.
He wasn't here to act as her daddy. He was here for the spoiling of cute little girls ! In fact, he already had a nice idea as to where they could go next...

The child was excited, she couldn't remember a time when she had cake. Maybe once did her mother ever give her cake, on her birthday, but that might have coincided with a party her mother was having. It didn't seem to matter to the child, but her face said otherwise. Her expression was sedate, which wasn't unusual, but her eyes empty. It was a moment and then it was gone again when Xavier mentioned that he was going to have cake too, and asked her what she would be having to drink with it. Milkshake or milk? The child assumed those were her only choices and thought deeply on the matter.
"Milk is fine," she said. "I like milk."
She didn't care what she had to drink with the cake, and she was happy just having company.

...Was she sad ? Had it been something he had said ? Xavier thought back on the words he had said, and found nothing wrong with them - though that was more than enough for Ainsley's little 'moment' to pass. Ah... Odd, but he decided to pay it no mind for now. If there was something on her mind, she would tell him.
Right ?
"I like milk too." He said with a smile, and gave his order to the waitress when she came - two pieces of chocolate cake and two glasses of milk.
It shouldn't be long, but what to do in the meantime ? Hm... "Oh, look, there's a pencil." He mused out loud. "We could draw bunnies while waiting for our cake ?"
Xavier had already been clued in of Ainsley's extreme obsession liking of bunnies."

The child giggled at Xavier when he had given the order to the waitress -- he had gotten the same thing as her! They had the same taste, they'd be great friends! Her eyes glanced down at the bunny in her lap for a moment as she wondered if Octavian Oswald liked chocolate cake and milk too. He was such a picky eater. Her thoughts on the rabbit's eating habits were quickly swayed when Xavier mentioned the pencil. Her eyes looked at him, and then to the pencil. She loved paper and pencil activities and the thought of bunnies pretty much put it over the top!
"Yes," she said with a smile as she grabbed the pencil off the table. She knew right away what she wanted to draw. Bunnies. Bunnies. Two bunnies. No, three bunnies. Yes. A bigger bunny with two smaller bunnies. One bunny was holding the other smaller bunny. The bigger bunny had short hair with a little tail. It looked a little like Xavier. It even had clothes like his. The other smaller bunny had braids, and the smaller bunny it had holding had a bow around its neck. The three bunnies even had cake! There were hearts around, all over the place.
The child grinned as she held it up for Xavier to see.

He watched her draw with obvious interest, not even moving when the waitress brought in their cake and milk. It wasn't like the cake and milk would run away, and watching Ainsley draw was much more interesting ! And she didn't even seen to mind.
He was smiling when she held up the picture for him to see. "Those are clearly the best bunnies I've ever seen. You should bring the picture back home to Bell can see them too."
The resemblances hadn't escaped him.

The child had been so busy drawing that she hadn't seen the cake and milk that the waitress brought over and now she was too busy listening to what Xavier had thought about the drawing she did! He had said they were the best bunnies he had ever seen? She couldn't do anything but blush at his compliment, even more proud of her drawing than ever. He wanted her to bring it home and show Bell? Would her sister like it? She looked at Xavier with hope as she thought about it as she softly said, "Do you think she'll like it?"

"I am quite certain of it !" Xavier answered. Well, hopefully she would. Sometimes Bell and kids didn't mix as well as one could hope for.
"You should put it up on the fridge, too, so everyone can see it." He said with a nod, and then took his fork, apparently unable to resist cake any longer.
Through Xavier rarely resisted the call of delicious things.

The child looked surprised when Xavier told her she could put it on the fridge. This was something the child had never done before and the idea quickly flooded into her mind. Everyone would be able to see it? The child's cheeks flushed a little and she quickly grabbed a fork and took a bite of the cake. It took a moment to settle in but one thing flooded into the child's mind: delicious!
"I-It's very good," she said to Xavier before she tried to give some to Octavian Oswald. She frowned a little when he turned it down but instead of lingering on it she ate it instead as she thought about it: why must he be such a picky eater? It wasn't like she was trying to make him eat Brussels Sprouts! It was delicious cake... silly rabbit.

Xavier let out a lighthearted chuckle when she tried to feed cake to her rabbit plush. It was adorable !
"My, Mister Oswald seems to be quite a picky eater, isn't he ? Maybe carrot cake will fit his fancy better next time." The blonde stopped to eat some more of his own slice, munching thoughtfully as he spotted the Build-A-Bear right in front of the cafe. Hmmmm...
Now there was a thought. "Or maybe he would like a friend ?"

Ainsley nodded to Xavier, giving that look to Octavian Oswald. The look said it all. It wasn't an angry look, or even a sad look. The look was probably closest to the look a mother gave to a child who wouldn't eat their vegetables. He was a very picky eater, and sometimes it worried Ainsley. What if he started looking too much fluff! She didn't want her dear prince to become unhealthy and start flopping over when he shouldn't be.
"Carrot cake," she thought out loud, giving a stray look to the bunny plush. He didn't seem to put up a fuss about it, and a small smile found its place on Ainsley's lips. She'd have to try it someday. However, her thoughts soon found their way to the idea of a new friend for him, her eyes trying to follow where Xavier's had gone.
"I think he would like that!" He didn't have many friends, not after Gwenliana had... disappeared. Constantine Cyprian was more like a guardian who watched over the two of them, but he didn't like to play very much. He would suffer through tea parties but that was mostly because it didn't involve moving him out of the room. Night Knight was only a head, and well, there was only so much you could do with a head.
"We don't have many friends."

"Ah... Well then." He pondered out loud, making up his mind as to where to go next. Yes, that would probably do nicely. "Once we're finished with our cake... I know a place where there are a lot of friends, just waiting. We'll only be able to pick one, though."
He just hoped that seeing a stuffed animal being 'made' wouldn't break the mystique. Oh well, too late to turn back now.

Once they were finished? Excitement and curiosity overwhelmed the child as she tried to finish up her cake as quickly as possibly without becoming a pig. She took bigger bites than she had before, but her lips still lingered on the eating utensil as savoured the taste of the chocolate cake. It was absolutely fantastic. It was sweet, but not too sweet and the frosting was ever-so delicious. She did not understand how she had not had the pleasure of eating this cake before!
Finally finished her cake, she looked up at Xavier after she wiped her face off with a paper napkin. Would he tell her where they were going before they got there or would it be a surprise? Her eyes looked at his for the answer as she said, "Friends? Where?"

It was amusing to watch her pick up the pace, so to speak, and Xavier likewise finished his own cake and drink before paying the waitress as she came to get the plates again.
"It's a surprise." He winked at her, as he started to make his way out with the young lady in tow. To be honest, he hadn't even set foot in a build-a-bear before. This was completely new territory.
He hoped they had bunnies, at least.

The child never was much for surprises, far too curious for her own good to be able to fully appreciate a surprise she knew was coming. Surely she might enjoy one if she didn't know beforehand but as she was now she could barely walk normally as she was looking all around from Xavier to every store in her sight as she tried to predict where they were going. Of course, this didn't last long when the two suddenly stopped in front of the big doors of the yellow-coloured store. It was a Build-a-Bear store.
There were plenty of children running around with their parents and even a few older teenagers who seemed to enjoy the stuffed animals as well. On the walls and in the front displays were lots and lots of stuffed animals, varieties of animals from the normal bear to even cartoon characters currently being featured in the store. She was excited, was this where they were going? A toy store? She looked up at Xavier for answers as she held out Octavian Oswald so he could get a good view as well.

There were, indeed, lots of moving children to watch out for. Xavier did his best not to end up on a collision course with any of the tiny moving bodies, while leading Ainsley toward where the line for building the toys started.
"We can make a friend for Octavian here." He said, smiling. "He can decide what he wants his friend to look like, if he wants to."
