For once, Ming lost her calm facade. "You want me to WHAT!?" She about screeched, nearly matching her older sister in a high-pitched horror-filled scream. She was going to have to go... on a quest... for something... for... some... thing!? Her head spun. "I'm sorry, I think I misheard you," she corrected herself, and tried to make sense. "You said a quest? And, what exactly am I looking for...?" she finished warily. This day was turning out more and more bizarre.

"You did not mistaste me, mortal. A quest. You shall fetch..." Metria stopped and tilted her head, thinking for a long moment then grinned. "A feather from a wind serpent kalona's head!" Yeah, that should be sufficiently hard...and dangerous. And mortals always formed bonds over these quests. That was fun to watch too!

Now, Ming was well-known for the fact that she remained calm and collected in all situations, no matter what turbulence or chaos was happening. At the moment, however, Ming was learning that Metria was the very first creature to break her steadfast composure. "...E-excuse me?!" she pretty much stammered. "A w-wind... serpent... kalona... feather!? Okay, I see, you're just joking. I see you smiling..." she trailed off, feeling slowly relieved.
Of course, the little thing was probably just trying to pull her strings and see how unsettled Ming would become. That's what it was. Nodding to herself slightly and calming down, she fixed the bunny with a semi-glare. "You're just joking. I've never heard of such a creature--what are they, some Soquili you made up? They don't exist!" Well, she was saying this out of semi-desperation considering the fact that she even if she'd never seen a "wind serpent kalona" it did not mean they didn't exist. For example, she had met up with a flutter, whose species she hadn't quite believed though her mother insisted they existed.
Much like Alicorns, crossbreeds who were rare; she had two sisters who were alicorns, in fact... and then there were half-breeds, Soquili who were born and looked one way but still carried certain blood within themselves. Ming shook herself. She was trying to rationalize, and she was beginning to feel the start of a pure dread. "You aren't joking at all, are you," she whispered, slight fear showing in her eyes. "Look, Metria, are you certain you truly need this feather? What would you even need it for?" she wondered. She didn't see much use in such a feather... an Angeni's feather, yes, for it had stronger healing qualities than even her own unicorn horn, but still... She sighed. She was--as Khepri often like to put it--utterly screwed.

..."Offspringing"? She wondered. Ignoring the strange wording, she could only wonder what the winged rabbit meant. "I need it? For what purpose would such a feather help me, if indeed, I need it?" She would do anything to not do this quest, but if this feather somehow helped her out, she wouldn't mind doing the quest in the least... mostly. Okay, so she was still kind of reluctant to do it. She heaved a great sigh. "Okay, Metria. Fine. I'll find this feather for you... or for me, whatever the case may be, and I will return to this very spot to show you. But first, just tell me what I, of all mares, would need it for." Ming didn't need anything. She had her family, she had her solace most times, and she was content with that. Mostly. Was she?

Ming muttered under breath--sounded like "good grief"--before she nodded at Metria with a withering look. "So, I'm doing this on my own, huh? Well, if it's to get rid of you... Fine, I'll do it. Just... would you mind giving me a general "head-start" so I can... get started?" She wondered to herself, after a moment, what she was getting herself into... Ming sighed to herself. Well, at least she had something "important" to do, and not only would it keep Khepri out of her hair, but it would keep Metria out of the way, as well. Thank goodness.

Ming muttered as she chose a random direction to begin her journey, wondering with Metria would get off her back so she wouldn't have to listen to that strange speech that the rabbit uttered. Decided that going... that way, whatever "that" way was, Ming began her first quest on a long road. She didn't know it, but eventually, she would slowly make friends with someone whom she would come to cherish as a close confidant.
