He could feel her stiffen at his touch and he could see how it bothered her so, with a sigh, he loosened his grip on her waist. Upsetting her would probably result in him being buried beneath a pile of snow or even worse, frozen completely. He didn't need to be any colder.
He had been surprised when he first saw how easily she glided across the snow but it was another story to dance with one. His gaze had dropped from her face to her feet as he did his best to move with her. The difficulty was increased due his his inability to dance on the snow rather than in it. Still with her leading hand he moved rather gracefully.
The teen knew how to dance and had learned the waltz as a child but this was different. It wasn't the typical waltz or it didn't feel like it was. His mother had been sure to teach him everything she thought he would need and dancing, formal dancing, had been one of them. Yet the spiky haired boy was rusty from both the lack of practice and the lack of opportunity to showcase his skills.
"Should I be hearing some kind of melody playing from no where?" He joked.

She sighed and popped one eye open to look up at him, a very disappointed look on her face. Was there just no teaching humans about the beauty of dancing and winter? They just made jokes and bundled up even tighter in their silly, bulky clothes. Well, Kaguya couldn't blame her - she had tried!
"It's more about feeling," she said softly, shutting her eye again and letting her face become smooth and relaxed once more. "If you don't want to feel it, you won't." She had been born to dance, and, well, make Earth a giant icy ball of winter wonder. Still, dancing was in her blood, it was a part of her.
"Watch," she said softly, her pale eyes opening again and glancing around them as if she could see anything in the half-frozen downtown street they were twirling through. She separated the hand that was holding his, letting hers move more out to the side. Then, with a tiny smile she let a flurry of snow loose, trailing it behind them as they moved in flowing circles around and around.

Chase was only human and then he was simply a boy, a teenage boy but a boy nonetheless. That meant he thought it was a good idea to crack jokes every now and then if only to ease the mood. Unfortunately it seemed like he had chosen a bad time, or someone with a dry sense of humor and his smile faltered briefly. Eira needed to loosen up in his opinion, then again she was dancing with him.
That was an improvement.
"Feeling," he mused scrunching his nose in thought. He figured he could give it a shot but when he went to close his eyes she told him to watch. So he did. He let out a soft laugh shaking his head as he moved to grab her hand.
"Let me lead you now," he told her.

She was pleased when he laughed, her eyes turning from the tiny flurry back up to his. Apparently humans weren't completely incapable of appreciating the wonder of winter and that, more than anything, pleased her deeply.
"Uh," she faltered slightly as he took her hand again and asked if he could lead. The thought of surrendering control made her hesitate, so much so that her feet actually sunk into the snow a little. She recovered quickly though, pulling herself out of the drag, and forcing a tiny little smile on her face. He was doing his best to indulge her, so why couldn't she do the same?
"Alright, then lead the way human," she turned his words back out at him, albeit altered a little, and the simple phrase made that impish little smile shine brightly on her face once more. She relaxed her hand into his and let him take over control of their movements, hoping that he wouldn't fumble completely.

He could sense her hesitation but was pleased when she gave in. Even if they had differences, and she didn't like his forwardness, she was willing to compromise and that was good. Too bad he knew that once the dance ended so would their meeting and he would, likely, never see her again. Still despite the cold Chase found that his day had become much more enjoyable than previously.
He gave her one of most charming smiles as he stood up straighter and began to lead them through the familiar steps of the waltz. As they moved he kept his golden eyes on her as if he was studying her. Then near the end he spun her out as the grand finale.
"Miss Eira, thank you for the dance," he smiled bowing to her before he took his leave.
