I find it interesting no one mentioned our raw herring with onion yet and our typical way of eating it... This is not just a dish, it's a culture thing and we have parties and events being thrown for the dish itself. Everybody in Holland knows when the season start when those little basterds are caught fresh and foreigners find it always disgusting! Some Dutch do too, but most of us love it.
