She didn't notice him moving towards her at first. She was focused on drinking as much as she could. The water so nice and cool as it ran down her throat, and she was enjoying the drink. He was nearly upon her before she saw him. She lifted her head from the water and spotted him.
Up close, there was no denying he was a threat. He was large and menacing, and she could tell that his intent was not good. She backed up, and weighed her options. The best one seemed to be to flee, at least until she saw his wings. They were massive and she could tell they were quite powerful. Fast as she was, she doubted she could out fly him. She didn't know what to do.

When the female noticed he came to a stop. While his wings were powerful he was absolutely not a fast flyer. Scaring her away would do that and only that.
Gone only for the moment she very well may return and pester Unnr further. It was best to have her gone permanently. That could not and would not be achived by a direct charge.
"I am the guardian of this pool," a lie. "Who would you be?"

When he stopped, she edged back again. The more distance between them, the better. She glanced at him, then at the lake. The guardian of it? She was a little dubious, but she couldn't be certain. She supposed he very well could be.
Grey eyes guarded, she kept her gaze fixed on him now, just in case. If he made a move toward her, she'd be gone in an instant. It was better to give fleeing a chance than to stay and be killed for certain.
"My name is Ravyn. I am just passing by. I was thirsty and saw the--your lake."

His ears, hidden beneath his thick, feathery mane, flicked forward at the mention of her name. He smiled, sharp teeth showing through beneath the mask, and a deep malicious laugh escaping from between his lips.
"You don't say. My name in Anzu," the birds switched places above them. "The raven lord."
He didn't expect her to bow down, or recognize him in any way. Yet he was curious. Perhaps her name wasn't mearly a coincidence....

"The raven lord?" Ravyn frowned, starting to shake a little at the sound of that laugh and the sight of those teeth. Yes, he was definitely a threat. "I have never heard of a raven lord." She started to slowly back up. She needed to get out of this situation. She couldn't fiight, but he definitely looked like he could.
Unnr had finally found her fish. He was large and fat, and she knew he would be tasty. She had eaten his children before. Pleased with herself, she surfaced, the large fish held tight between her teeth as her glowing eyes looked about for Anzu. When she spotted him, she made a happy noise that quickly died in her throat as she realized that there was someone else there. It was replaced by a snarl as she quickly swam forward, fish still clenched in her teeth.

The fact that she didn't recognize his name didn't bother him in the least. After all, it was a self proclaimed title, and not one he often shared with strangers.
Anzu caught the movement in the water out of the corner of his eye. s**t. Unnr had spotted the mare. His fun would have to come to an abrupt halt.
He lowered his head and darted toward her, and away from the lake so he stood between her and the lush forest. If she wanted to escape now she would have to fly out over the river, or down the bank. If she took the land route he would do his best to cut her off. Either way in only moments she would have to face Unnr.
And while he looked the part, it was truly the serpent who was the larger threat.

While she had been watching him, Ravyn was still startled when he suddenly charged at her. She jumped in surprise, and her instinct told her to flee--not to fly. It was a stupid mistake, but it was one she made. She darted away from him, towards the lake. That was her second mistake.
Unnr sped up when she saw Anzu dart toward the intruder mare on the shore. She dropped the fish--it was dead now anyway from the tight clamp she had put on it, so it would float--and charged onto the shore, making a line straight toward the b***h. She was going to break every bone in her body and let the fish and the crows eat her.

Anzu kept pace with her, not looking to injure the female himself, only to herd her toward his precious Unnr. Right then, it seemed to be working. The female had darted away from him, but to the side toward the shore. He could see the lumps protruding from the water where she was looking out and toward the intruder. But the question was, did the intruder see her?

She didn't. Not at first. Ravyn was far more concerned with the beast on her tail, chasing her. He was so much bigger than her, it was terrifying. She didn't want to die, not now.
She glanced over her shoulder at him. He looked so close. Maybe if she timed this right, she could take off just before the lake. He was large and probably couldn't manoeuvrer quickly. He might just crash into the lake. His wings would be wet then. She could escape. She could! She turned back to the lake, getting ready to outstretch her wings. Instead she crashed head first into a kelpie.
Unnr let out a blood curling sreech as she attacked the winged mare, teeth biting and forelegs kicking. She had every intention of causing serious harm to the wind, and she was going to do it. Still shrieking, she fell crashing into the water, pulling the b***h down with her.

Anzu came to a stop at the edge of the water, watching the bloody battle unfold before him. Unnr would win. There was no doubt in his mind. The serpant was ruthless, strong... she had the element of surprise.
If he were to interfear now it would do nothing more then suggest a mistrust that he did not posess. This was all fine. Watching held it's own pleasures.
Too bad though. She had been such a pretty mare.
Dante was flyinging just over the trees, letting his hooves touch a leaf here, a branch there. It was a lazy day, at best. Maybe he would go find somewhere to snooze the afternoon away.
He'd only started humming a careless tune to himself when he heared a comotion coming from below. Curious, he turned, driftng in a circle, hoping to find the source.
The sight that met his eyes was one of the last things he'd expected to see. It was a mare he'd encountered before and... Some sort of strange beast fighting in the shallows of a pond. Watching over them was a large male. What on the bright earth was going on here?
Concerned, he quickened his decent.

Ravyn met Unnr's shriek with one of her own. She hadn't had a clue that the kelpie was anywhere near, not until she had been upon her. Still, caught by surprise or not, she was not going to lay down and die. She fought back with everything she had.
Unnr snarled. No. The b***h was not going to win. How dare she land on her lake. How dare she talk to Anzu. She would eat her herself if she proved to much of a hassle! She was going to take this b***h down. Hissing she bit down on a wing, hard.

Anzu laughed when he saw Unnr take the fight's first blood.
Dante was dropping fast and comming up from behind the darker stallion. What the hell was that dark stallion doing? Just standing there watching while the mares tore eachother apart? Either he misunderstood terribly or this situation was both one sided and ******** up.
He swooped past, hitting the dark stallion hard with a hoof, then circling back. s**t. The stallion's mane had provided more cushioning then he'd expected. He was stumbling, but he wasn't down.

Oblivious to her rescuer, Ravyn was too busy trying to keep the kelpie at bay. She was tough, but she wasn't strong. None of her blows so far had managed to even faze the scaly mare. She was much stronger and much more wicked.
Unnr knew she would win this. As long as she kept the winged mare grounded, there was no way she could escape. With a fierce snarl, she tore the wing away from the body, grinning with glee as she heard the sickening pop that signaled she had pulled the wing from its socket. In her triumph, she looked up to see if Anzu was enjoying the show. Her eyes widened in horror as she realized that Anzu was no longer watching because someone was attacking him!
Letting out a snarl, she gave the b***h's wing one more harsh tug for good measure and then charged toward the shore. No one touched her Anzu!
