Mist Academy

Sorain kept his pace brisk to keep up with his brothers frantic sprint. It was just as well though, the sooner they got out of their parents sight the better, Sorain always hated when Sai assisted him in such a way, it made him feel even more handicapped than normal. The moment his brothers hand dropped Sorain retracted his back into his sleeve. The truth was Sorain was far more capable than he gave himself credit for, even without Sai's constant voice to guide him he still could have easily managed the trip to the academy. Even things such as the feel of the ground below his shoes would have been enough of a trail that he could have sprinted the entire way there, anything short from a random cart or some other imobile object in his way he was just fine. Sorain sighed, he wondered if he would ever be again to gain his sight. His mother had always told him that anything was possible in this world, that even the dead could walk again under the right circomstances so it was not too hard to belive that through enough training Sorain might one day find a way to regain his eye sight. The only thing he hoped was that it would happen before his brother managed to activate his Sharingan.

It was no secrete that the two were destiended to eventually wield the eyes of fire, but the thing that scared Sorain most was the possibility that he would never unlock his clans more famous ability due to his malfunctioning eyes. The thought alone was enough to send rage through his young body once again.

He continued to follow Sai, wondering just what it was that caused him and his brother to be so similar yet so ******** different that at times it was hard to tell that they grew up in the same house hold. "Yes I am excited." He said leaving it simply at that.

"Yea..." Sai responded dryly, all of his energy draining away almost instantly at his brother's lack of enthusiasm. "I can see that totally." Sai's eyes turned away from his brother and stared off at the sky beyond, the bright blue spheres searching the great gray mass before dropping back to stare at the ground before his feet. He hated how plain and dull his brother was with things. Just because he lacked the ability to see didn't mean he had to also loose the ability to enjoy life. Everything was so short and simple, it was actually taken farther then just the extent of being worse then that. It was almost as though he couldn't be bothered to care about any of it more then just in the literal term. However, the realty was that Sorain was simply a child of such complacent peace that there was very little to get rise out of him and in the eyes of his six year old twin brother it seemed nothing more then hatred.

The boy could barely understand the complexity of the meaning of hate but despite that, Sai had always felt an hatred from his brother. That was the only way he could explain it or make sense of how his brother acted with him. Why couldn't he share Sai's excitement or activeness? Why didn't he want to go on chattering about what they were to do? A soft sigh pushed past the boy's thin lip as he turned to look at his brother again, the mist dulling everything's features and making Sorain seem even more depressing. "So... I wonder what our classmates will be like and if we'll be able to combat train. I want to learn an awesome technique that makes swords or something come out and go Ka blang, boom! BAM BAM! VROOOOOOOOOSH!" Sai exclaimed, getting ahead of himself as he suddenly began attacking the space before him with an imaginary weapon.

Mist Academy

"I doubt that we will be learning juts on our first day brother" He said calmly, although he himself was unsure. Who knew what was in store for them? Neither of them had any experience with the Shinobi life so it was extreamly possible that they would be learning Jutsu today. Sorain thought back to stories he had heard about concerning a certain academy test that gave Kirigakure such a bad name. It was said that at the end of an acadmy students training a notoriously brutal test was given, the details of which he was unsure of. Sorain shuddered to think what he would be doing today. Was he exited? Sure he was, but his excitement was unfortunately trumped by his dread.

Sorain rotated his shoulders before speaking again, trying to ease some of the tension he felt about there destination, "How long does this thing last anyway? Do you gotta pass a test? Man I hope I dont have to read or write anything" He said shaking his head. Obviously, Sorain was illiterate and so anything dealing with book work was going to be more than a challenge, it was going to be out right impossible. He had been practicing braille with his mother but at age six it was still something that was beyond his grasp. Sorain pursed his lips together trying to fight back the uneasy feeling that was developing in the pit of his chest. What was going to happen today? The thought scared him every time it crossed his mind, he just hoped and prayed that things would go smoothly.

Mist Academy

Sai pouted heavily, the disappointment purely clear not only by how he looked but also the change in his mannerisms. The boy had a tendency to breathe heavier when he was upset, pushing the air out of his nose loudly in a purposeful manner; not to mention they way he shuffled his feet lazily as though he no longer wish to be bothered in doing anything else. "That sucks! I want to learn something coooool. Ya know, go home and impress mommy and daddy!" A goofy grin spread across the boy's soft face as he went back to imagining what it would be like to cast a powerful ninjutsu for his parents, causing shock and awe for them. "I wonder if they'd get us a new toy if we got something cool."

Twisting his mouth to the side in a half pout and half pursing fashion, the young boy thought about the question presented to him by his brother. Blowing one of his cheeks out, he allowed his mouth to relax before biting his bottom lip for a moment. "I heard from dad that most people graduate when they're twelve to fourteen... But some dofus never graduate they just don't cut it as a shinobi." Sai laughed loudly at the idea of being held back forever as an academy student, his face beamed at the hilarity of the idea and his body doubled over at the pain of laughing so hardily. However as his laughter came to a slow end, Sai quickly sobered up and watched his brother with remorse. "Not like that'd ever happen to us! We're epic, we'll graduate and become great warriors for our country! Maybe, one day, we'll be just as valuable as mommy and daddy~"

Mist Academy

Sorains face softened as his brother spoke words of reassurance, even at that young age they were already two peas in a pod most of the time. Neither Sorain nor Sai knew much about the world, but at the end of the day the knew each other. He thanked his brother silently for putting him on ease. Maybe he was right, eye sight or not he was still the child of two of the most famous Shinobi in the Mist Village. So what if he was blind, hell that made him even better. "I hope we get to fight today. I wanna kick someones but. Im gonna show them the move mom taught me" he said calmly, even though he was showing signs of exitement it still was not in his natural personality to get overly worked up like his bother often did. Something that was strange for someone his age but Sorain didnt know any better, as far as he knew his brother was jut eccentric.

Sorain pulled his arm back in a loose fashion and swung his arm forward in a highly signaled and poorly exicuted punch that in his mind looked like the coolest thing since hand signs. Which brought to his attention another concern, one that he was at first reluctant to speak of but decided ultimatly it was for the best. "... if they make us do hand signs.. Your going to have to put my hands how there supposed to be. I could remember it after that" he said, forcing a smile on his face. He didnt want to ruin the day with his somber mood. Instead he decided at that moment that he would at least try to have a positive out look on things. Today was a day to be happy, not to be wallowing in self pity, besides, such emotions were far out of the norm for a six year old anyway.

"One time, I heard this guy in the market and he said that in Kiri they teach you how to make fog with your hands. He said its like this thing that covers the air so you cant see your opponant." He laughed at the thought, "Not that that would bother me anyways. Imma do that and then they cant see me either! Ha! If neither of us can see then I will win" Sorain finished speaking, it was the first time that he had ever made a joke about his eye sight, in fact, it was his first time actually making a joke that was not filled with childish attempts at sarcasim.

Mist Academy

Sai blinked heavily as he watched his brother walk alongside him. Had Sorain actually just ask him to help him out? The young boy's mind couldn't begin to understand the intricate meaning behind it or the way he felt about it, but rather then feeling the full on bashfulness created by how embarassing it was to help his brother that he usually felt when his parents asked, Sai felt happy. Happy that his brother had asked him to help him, to be useful and meaningful to his blood. "Sure. Then we can both be all.." Sai began to make the sound effects of rapidly making hand seals as he through his hands together in awkward positions that made up cool hand signs in his mind, ".. AND BOOM!! We'll kick major bad guy butt!" The boy giggled at the idea and continued to prance along the trail, happy as he could be as he listened to his brother's story. With a big bound foreword, Sai laughed loudly at the idea, "What would be so awesome!! They'll be all like, 'AAAAAH!!! Nuuuuu, Where did he go? Where did he go?!' And you'll be all sneaky... sneaky...sneaky... sneaky... POUNCE!! 'Yea!!! You dead~'"

It would be another hour and a half hour more until the two brothers would reach the gates of kirigakure with the pace that their little legs could take them. But the time would have felt much shorter to the twins as they went on with their gimmicks and jokes, their excitement about finally joining the academy brimming and growing with each moment. At the gates a chuunin for the kirigakure would be found reading a newspaper, a group of other young children ready for their first day of ninja training waiting around him. It would be another half hour before the group had all the students with them and began their travel too the Ninja Academy.

Mist Academy

Sorain chuckled a bit, today had started pretty well which was a good sign for the rest of the day to come. As they reached the village gates Sorain began to loose focus of where he was going. The loud chatter from various people was slowly growing even louder, clouding his senses and making loose his perception of where everything else was in relation to him. Sorain began to awkwardly slow down, it was a scary situation to be moving through an unkown place without the ability to see. He kept feeling like every other step could end him up running into a wall or some other type of unpleasant thing. As his slow pace eventually turned into an out right halt Sorain felt slightly embarrased. He felt as though he was a sitting duck in a crowd of what ever it was that ate ducks. Holding back the worried tone in his voice Sorain spoke out to his brother rather loudly,"Sai?" He said, trying to gauge his brothers location from the sound of his voice, "Where are we?" He said, but what meant was Where are you? But asking that made him seem entirely too helpless, something that he still was not willing to admit.

Standing very still Sorain could feel the moistness on his face that he often felt when entering the heart of the village. He had been told that this was the mist that he had been told about, which made him wonder if anyone else could see but he had assumed so. It was funny, sometimes it was described as something that cut off visibility, yet at other times people described it as nothing more than a simple inconvenience.

Sai blinked and looked around at the sound of someone calling his name, his heart giving an unpleasant jump when he noticed that Sorain was not only at the back of the group but also rapidly being left behind as he had stopped walking. "Coming, coming!" The boy chimed loudly enough for his brother to here him as he struggled against the crowd to get back to his brother at the end, playfully nudging him in the arm before pushing him foreword. Playfully he threw his arm onto his brother's shoulder and began to walk quickly to catch up to the rest of the group. "We're some where in the village we've never been too before, there's this huge building coming up. I think we're almost at the academy, looks kind scary..." The truth was the academy was rather huge and formidable, almost in a majestic way that Sai could only describe as epic. But he didn't want to say that to his brother who couldn't see, so he decided to pick the only other word that could describe properly but wouldn't leave any wanton to actually see it.

Mist Academy

Sorain instantly felt a wave of releif as his brother returned to his side, it was almost as if his very presence put everything back in perspective. Instinctively Sorain reached out and gently fascend his hand on Sai's sleeve. It was an embarrassing action but without his vision it was the only thing that he could do to ensure that he did not get lost in the vast crowed. Even with his brothers arm around his shoulder he still felt better having his own grip on him through all the chaos of the people in the village. From the crowed a large sounding male with a raspy voice yelled out towards them, "You two up front!" He yelled signaling to the two brothers. Sorain was puzzled, he was not sure whom he was talking to but somehow he got the feeling it was directed at them. Sorain turned his head towards his brother for some sort of conformation. "Your the Orasakai twins yes!? Get up here" He said more as a statement than a question. Sorain wondered why they would be called first, but then he remember his parents notoriety in the village which lead him to believe that they had already been expecting them. The thought alone made him feel proud but at the same time worried, they both had big shoes to fill. While it was good to have the attention of the sensei's it would also mean that if they did not excel there would be even more disappointment.

Sai froze the moment the sensei singled him and his brother out of the entire group. He hated being put on the spot, it made him nervous and hated the feel of everyone's eyes on him, questioning and wondering, begging for him to fail or trying their best to edge him on. It felt awkward, annoying, just all together unpleasant and at his age the boy couldn't understand why, let alone how exactly to explain the feeling and that only served to make him feel worse about those situations.

Biting his lip and ducking his head, he walked foreword, leading his brother as he did. Instantly he felt a wave of regret for having his arm on his brother's shoulder, it made them look so childish and pathetic, needing each other like that. He could feel all his peers staring at them with hateful and judging eyes, a snicker or two could be heard in the crowd of them. They were the joke of the class now, and if they weren't yet, they would be by the time the sensei had their way with them.

Keeping his head bowed as he reached the sensei, Sai greated the man respectfully. "Yes, sensei?"

Mist Academy

The tall red haired man stood burling over them, his face scared from a heavy life of battle and war, his voice was course and unforgiving like that of am an whom had been to the edges of life and death so many times that the simply act of breathing was one that was not taken for granted. "..Tell me boys. What do you expect from this life? Why are you even here huh? You like all the others come to our feet asking to be taught the ways of Shinobi. To be given the tools that mimic that of the gods. " He paused for a moment, remembering that there were several other students among them before speaking again, "Very well" he said, ignoring his own question, " I can give you that power, I can teach you what it means to be a Shinobi.." the man turned his back as if to lead them forward before quickly turning on his heals and roughly slapping them both on the forehead with two brown sheets of paper.

Sorain looked up instinctively, forgetting for just a moment that he could not see. On his head what felt like a wet sheet of paper slowly slide down his face before landing the ground and splitting into to. Sorain had no idea what was going on, nor did he realize that the paper after it had fallen had split, for all he knew he was either being punished, or attacked, both did not sit well with him. Sorain, without thinking, reaching his arm up and swung a wild punch towards where the slap had come from. The punch hit nothing but air as he was entirely too far away for his little arms to connect.

The man stuttered back at the gaul of the young boy, but what struck him most was the slight chill that came with that swing. A smirk crossed his face, "So it is true. The twin sons of the Orasakai are ready to start their training." He bit his lip before turning once again and opening two large doors that signaled the start of the adacamy training term.

From inside the large building several teachers ranging from Chuunin to Jounin approached. Out of the crowed a women with purple hair who was procariously followed by two young men went straight up to the twins, allowing the other teachers to search through the crowed using their own paper tags to determine the affinity of the rest of the students. Depending on their elemenet they would be divided amoung the sensei's.

The women who neared the twins looked at them closely, sizing them up as if she expected them to be more than what they were. Roughly she grabbed Sais arm and slung it away from his brothers shoulders, "This is Kirigakure, there will be no .. hoolding haaands" she said mocking them in a girly fashion. The sounds of her tone sent anger coursing through Sorains body, however this time he kept it under control. " We will begin imedietly. Follow me" She said turning around and heading down the vast halls before reaching a back end that opened up into an out door training field. The rest of the students were filed into various classes while the twins were directed outside, away from the population of students. Sorain felt relived at that moment, now that there were less people around he no longer felt that uneasy sensation, little did he know his four instructors were about to put him through a hell he had never imagined.

Mist Academy

Sai's bright blue eyes watched the gruff looking man as he talked, the words going in one ear and going out the other. The boy never had the attention span for lectures, regardless of how short or long they were, a lecture was a lecture and some where deep in Sai's head there was a mechanism that immediately shut his mind off from it. Around the scarred face of the man, bunnies and wolves ran circles around him playfully, swooping and sweeping around and around, sometimes even slipping into his nostril to come out of an ear or going in an ear to come out an nostril. After a moment the wolf sat curiously on the man's nose, looking this way and that as his paw scratched at his head confused, all the while the bunny hopped innocently at the window of the man's eye. It was everything Sai could do not to giggle in glee and chase after them himself.

However, the show soon was sent knocked out of his mind as the paper was roughly slammed against his head, the ruff fabric instantly becoming wet like his brothers, slipping down his face to slice into two peaces before continuing to float on to meet Sorain's own peaces where they froze and disappeared in a fray of ice. The spectacle would have entranced Sai had he seen it but like his brother, the young boy flared up with anger and dropped low to kick the man's shin. It was a pathetic kick but with the punch Sorain had swung, it was enough to garner the instant respect of the children around them... as well as a rough kick back to Sai's own leg causing him to fall over roughly. Growling softly, the boy got back up gingerly and placed his arm back on his brother's shoulder, this time more as a prop for his smarting leg.

Pouting quietly to himself, he allowed the man to lead them into the building, not thinking much of the building or anything else that was happening as he favored his leg. It was only when the purple haired lady pulled Sai away from Sorain that he growled angrily, yanking his arm back futilely, only getting it back after she released him, causing him to fall over yet again. The day was quickly turning from bad to worse, the academy wasn't what he expected and he couldn't help the feeling of being picked on but what for he couldn't begin to understand. He just knew it was unfair and the feeling of tears welling up in his eyes were beginning to fill him. "Yes ma'am..." Sai muttered softly as he helped himself back up and limped quietly behind his brother and woman to the new place.

Mist Academy

Sorain breathed heavily, fighting against the air itself for his next breath, never in his short life had he ever experienced such a pain that matched that of gasping for air against ravaged lungs. He tilted his head up, his vision now more than ever proved to be the biggest drawback that one could ever have. Before he could even manage to get a good breath of air another hard blow crashed into the side of his temple sending him crashing across the ground sending him down into the dirt. Sorain lay there, bruised and battered. The wraps over his eyes began to loosen, feeling the grip of them fall Sorain gripped them tightly with his fist and tossed them to the ground before rolling himself onto his feet. Holding his sides to ease the pain Sorain grunted and frowned towards where the blow had come from. His eyes were a pale blue that was covered by a layer of grey from his blindness. Sorain spat out a small amount of blood from his bitten tonge. The battle had only begun about ten secconds ago and already he was feeling as though he was going to be killed. The instructors that day had put them through harder training than he ever knew possible. Walking across ponds of water with heavy weights attatched to their bodies, running up trees that were covered with traps and spikes, performing hand signs while being chained down, being left inside wooden boxes and suffering the heat until they managed to punch their way out. Sorains knuckles still bled from the that last one. The day had went on and on, one hard test after another before finnally they made it to the days final task. The purple haired instructor was puppetering two wooden drones while the dark man that had greeted them from the start was ever casting jutsu to hamper their already one sided battle.

Sorain called out, trying to see if his brother was still in the fight, "Sai! You ok!!?" He yelled, trying to gather his brothers location. He had no hope of fighting back unless he could stay near his brother whom could call out the right direction to expect the attack. Sorain took a stance, a loose one that he had just learned that day. He dug his feet into the ground, he had no intention of attacking, his only thought was to try his best to grab onto the puppet as soon as he felt it near. Sorain breathed in deeply to gather as much air as he could, almost as soon as he did the puppet came spirling towards him, landing a solid blow against his chest. However this time Sorain did not flintch, he grabed the puppets arms with both hands and refused to let go as he was flung in and out of the air like a rag doll. Even after being slammed against the hard ground Sorain refused to let go of the puppet. What else could he do? He was literally fighting blind and it was the only way he could at least know where the attack was coming from. Sorain balled his fist and slammed it against the puppets shoulder before crying out in pain at how hard it was.

[Wind country Academy]

Oasis walked towards the large academy building a somewhat befuddled look on her face as she looked up to the academy. It was intimidated actually, her home was full of rather small buildings. The largest was the chiefs home and it wasn't even half the size of this building. She had walked by several others on her way here that were large than the chiefs building as well, putting a real perspective on the size of her home. Was this building really just a school for the ninja of this place? She took a deep breath and steeled her nerves, this was why she was here she shouldn't feel to apprehensive about this. Oasis had completed a great deal of her training at home, though only the chief and her parents could teach her anything about the ninja arts so she needed to come here to complete her training and become a shinobi. She nodded her head and walked up to the double doors of the academy and pushed them open with a short shove and swift step she made her way down the hallway, her bare feet making a distinct tapping sound as she trotted on the balls of her feet down the hall looking for the instructor she was told to find in order to continue her training. There was a great deal of people in the building, and she was receiving a fair number of odd glances, this was something she was used to though. They were either looking at the bright blue markings on her body, her ears, or even perhaps her wardrobe. It occurred to her as she was searching that though she 'knew' who she was looking for she really had no idea who this person was, just a name and a vague description, that was going to make things difficult. Maybe she needed to find someone to ask? She smirked that was a brilliant idea and so she made an abrupt heel spin and started running in the opposite direction, headed right back towards the entrance doors.

[Wind Country Academy]

Hatsuma rested her head on her arms laying the other two across her chest as she lay under the sun in the sands at the outskirts of the village. She had been refining her ability to scale things bare handed and without the use of constant chakra control via the webs she could create so well through her body. The sun beat down gently upon her, though to someone not native to the lands it would certainly be an overbearing amount of heat; as usual nary a cloud passed over the orb like furnace in the sky. Hatsuma had drifted off after some time. The sun having lulled her to sleep seemed to bring with it some strange visions. Not strange to Hatsuma of course as she had them often for as long as she could remember. Visions of a past life or perhaps future events in her own; regardless they always felt relevant to her in some way. Hatsuma found meaning behind everything and her dreams were no exception.

"Certainly you can't think this a good idea, we haven't thoroughly planned this mission out and it seems rather irrelevant to be out this far besides..." Hatsuma’s voice echoed out in the dreamy forest the greeted her sleeping sight.

"Of course we've got to be here, all part of the plan, it'll be fine trust Me." a silhouetted figure chimed out in response. "The time is almost near for our mission to finally reach its end." the shadow person finished looking to Hatsuma to see her reaction to the words spoken.

"This just doesn't seem to be beneficial to our goal that’s all..." Hatsuma exclaimed bringing a hand to rub at her temple. A rustle in the trees caught her attention as her eyes darted to the treetops. "I think we were follo-..." a sharp pain seemed to reach into her chest from behind. Glancing back she saw a toothy grin on the silhouetted form as the dagger was pulled free and held in its hand. the dagger seeming to be the support for Hatsuma now free allowed her to fall to her knees.

"Oh I know we were followed, after all, we completed our mission... farewell..." the silhouetted figure and it's unnatural grin began to fade to black, to white, then to red as Hatsuma slowly opened her eyes to the sunlight. Sitting up she brought a hand to her face and rubbed at the drowsiness that accompanied naps.

After a moment she got to her feet and approached the wall of sunagakure and began to easily scale it as if she were a six legged gecko. Swiftly she was over the wall and on the ground of the other side. Hatsuma proceeded to walk along the streets ignoring the less frequent but still apparent gaze of villagers who seemed to still feel uncomfortable of Hatsuma's appearance and nature.
Now in the main streets of the village she altered her direction towards the academy building. Stopping at a booth on the way to pick up a light snack, of which consisted of some kind of dried meat on a stick. She wasn’t concerned like most would be about the length of time that it been there. The buildings were certainly impressive being comprised of formed sand and stone mostly the construction was quite stable similar to a kind of rough clay or ceramic in durability and just as difficult to repair. Were it not for the use of chakra and ninja skills it might be impossible to restore the buildings that get damaged from time to time.
“hm… there we are…” she commented to herself before taking a bite from the food she had bought. She was referring to the large building that she was headed towards. It was the academy building, one of the more elaborately built constructions in the village. Today was rather important after all they would be paring up with another shinobi to do a team strategy development project. Hatsuma wasn’t certain how other shinobi academy did things but this made sense to her since shinobi acted as a team and the ability to function with anyone would be necessary.
Stepping through the doors to the building she ended up stopping abruptly as another kunoichi was heading towards them fast paced. Side stepping the door she stood beside it rather than in the girl’s way. “Ah sorry for being in the way…” Hatsuma stated courteously giving an apologetic bow to the fellow shinobi. Hatsuma’s face however didn’t really hold any expressions on it as usual and she righted herself to find her way towards her classroom to get the assignment that she had come for as well as the comrade she would be dealing with for its duration.
