@Morg I'm not sure if this is true for everyone but in my seeking there seemed to be this attitude that you can't ask because, "God/Gods don't talk to people, only crazy people 'think' God/Gods are talking to them." You know it just seems weird that one can believe in God/Gods that interact and talk with people in the past yet believe somehow they are incapable of doing it today.
@Adalyna I can't stand the fallacy of fireballs either.

I was going to make a new thread but I think this is related to a lack of common sense.
Know a little something about the God in front of you before you ask them for things. You might be royally pissing them off right now by asking something that is insulting or completely counter to their nature.
DO NOT MUCK WITH POWERFUL FORCES WHICH YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!

Situation: Went to a class on totem animals/fylgia. Before it started, everyone was talking and sharing about favorite animals and whatnot. One girl (why does it always seem like it's the girls?!) was going on and on about how her family always had a German Shepherd and how she loved that type of dog. We do a guided meditation asking for a spirit guide to appear. At the end she was, "Oh my gods! I totally saw a German Shepherd! I knew it, knew it, knew it. I've always felt connected to them!"
Rational Explanation: You've grown up with them and were thinking about them just before the meditation! Not saying it's not her guide but just assuming that the image was sent to her during one exercise and it happens to be the one animal she's always seen was just talking about? I'd do some more meditations.
Me: I am a cat lover and know I have a connection with them. I went into the meditation believing that I'd see some kind of cat, possibly a white tiger since it's my favorite animal; however, the animal I saw confused the dickens out of me. I knew it as soon as the image was there: African Painted Dog. I'd heard about them before but never studied them or anything. That meant something to me. Of course I've meditated a lot since then and have seen a few different animals, but the Painted Dog always comes back.

Esiris Situation: Woman is seeing a lot of black birds. What does it mean!? Explanation: OMG RAVENS ARE MY SPIRIT ANIMAL! People like this are the reason why I'm not social about my religion... Lol. The vast majority of "pagans" I meet are exactly this. It's annoying beyond belief.
