"I know," Howl replied quickly. Of course he was cute. "She means you guys are friends now," he added, for Kali's benefit. "Don't worry, Leyla," he said. "Kali and I are just friends."
"Howl only dates pretty girls," Leyla pointed out, studying Kali suspiciously. "But you're too big to be his girlfriend." She lowered her voice to a whisper, attempting to make sure her brother couldn't hear. "I hear Howl talking about the girl he really loves in his sleep. So I'm not going to allow him to date any other girls."
She paused, and nodded. "Daddy and I aren't doing very well," she said, pointing to the pile of snow. "It keeps falling. Daddy says it's supposed to be round, but he doesn't know how to make it round so..."
"I've never made one," Vate said defensively.

"Oh my god. I think I love you." She giggled, crouching down to give the elvin girl a hug. "You are adorable, and brilliant. We can start a team, okay? The Howl must date Sophie team." She poked her nose and giggled again. "And to celebrate the forming of our team, we will make a snowman!" She turned, and looked at Vate, smirking.
"I can see that." She gave Vate an almost malicious grin as she knelt down, packing the snow into a ball.
"You have to roll it. Like this, see?" She pushed the ball along the snow, watching as it gained size.
"Lu..." Luka scowled as Puff didn't fly. It was easy! He could do it, if he just tried!
"Ja, lu." Again, he pointed at his wings, flapping them and trying to show Puff how.

"I love you too," Leyla replied, hugging Kali as well as she could in her padded coat. It really was difficult to move... A team? Her golden eyes glinted. "I agree," she decided. "We'll be a team. I needed a partner anyway. I think it'll be hard to make sure Howl only dates Sophie, but I'm sure if we hire--"
"You do realize I'm standing right here, don't you?" Howl asked.
Leyla ignored him, continuing, "people to date him, people he won't like, maybe he'll realize Sophie's the only one for him."
Puff flapped his wings, and was briefly airborne. He beamed at Luka for a moment before his wings gave out and he fell, again, to the ground. Still, the shadow had a air of acheivement to him now. "Pu!" he said happily, hugging Luka. "Pupu!"

"Howl, it's rude to eavesdrop." Kali said, not looking at Howl, though she did have a very smug and small smile on her face. "If we cared that you were there, clearly we wouldn't be talking, now would be? I think that's a good start, Leyla, but why would he go on dates with people he doesn't like? I think we should get Sophie to go on a date with him, or find a way to help her get his heart back. She has to do it, you know. It's only right if it goes the same way as the books." She snuggled the little girl again, before returning to rolling her snow ball.
"See? Round. Now you have to make another one, but smaller than that."
"Lu!" That was so great! He had flown! Even if it was only for a few seconds, Puff had flown! That was so amazing!! He chirruped, and hugged Puff back, giggling. Now he'd just have to practice, and soon he'd be zipping around with Cain and Luka!
