"If we did it right, we'd all get a couple of hours of fun out of it. Think about it, we could find a dance class that teaches a little of everything. And the gifts could all be related in a weird way. I could get Oddy marachas and Hammie a fake rose or something. Both are sort of tango related."
For a moment, Saiph allowed herself to consider the line dancing idea. And while she knew she'd look damn good in the jeans and shirt, it still made her wince a little on the inside.
"A giant box could be fun too," she said, musingly. "And it would be awfully funny to see them both tearing through a giant box filled with smaller boxes..."

"We could write up a list of clues to help them figure out whose box within the box was whose..." It would take forever to sort out, possibly longer to pack and organize, but seeing the looks on their faces might just be worth all of the trouble put into it.
"Ooo, look." She pointed to a window they'd just been about to walk past, eying the ballgown-type dress. "We should get to dress like that more often. Maybe someone will host a big, fancy ball for New Years..." Maybe, if they were lucky, no one would crash it.

"Swing or jive dancing would be fun too," Saiph continued in a soft voice, still thinking of potential gifts. She roused herself from her musings when Corvus pointed out the ball gown. Sure it was pretty, not really her style, but pretty.
"As long as it's not that girl who had the coming out ball," Saiph muttered. "That was boring and stupid and made me feel like a slab of meat."
As far as Saiph was concerned, mere words could not adequately express her annoyance with the first of her two ball experiences. But she had to admit that dressing up was fun. She was opening her mouth to suggest that they return to this store in the mornign so Cordy could try on the ballgown when she caught sight of a window a few shops down. Scurrying over, she gazed past the glass and found herself giggling uncontrollably. In the window were several hoodies. And not just any hoodies, but hoodies that looked like cute animals. There was even a shark one.
"Check this out," she called out to her friend. "How cute are these? There's even a bunny one."

"Ugh. Let's not even go there. Would you believe I used to like events like that? The dancing, the prancing, the showing off... I lived for those things just like that poor girl." Her brow furrowed as she paused for a moment of silence to mourn the girl she once was; the nightmarish b***h she had been.
She drew herself out of her thoughts as the other girl's laughter, making her way quickly to the senshi's side. Her eyes went wide for a moment and then she shook her head, laughing herself. "Imagine the boys in one of those... Oddy in the penguin, Hammie in the bunny?"

The was silence from Saiph for a moment as she visualized this. And the mental image must have pleased her because she began to tremble and shake trying to keep her laughter contained.
"I will do it. I will. And I'd get the shark for me and hrmm.... which do you think would suit you?"
It was clear that Saiph had already found part of the boys' presents. Every few moments, a choked gurgle of laughter would erupt from her as she imagined Oddy and Hammie wearing these hoodies. It would be amazing. Then, another thought struck her.
"You know... I remember seeing some rainbow splatter and plaid wrapping paper rolls at the card store. I don't think they'd need clue notes to figure out what belonged to who is we got those and used them."

"I... Don't know if I could really picture myself wearing one of those." She stood back for a moment, brow furrowed as she tried to figure out whether or not anything in her closet matched any of those things. "Maybe for sleepwear in the winter? I don't know about actually out in public, though..."
Ah, a good bit of the old Cordy shining through.
"Rainbow splatter? They actually make wrapping paper like that for Christmas? That would be... Amazing." Her eyes went wide as she glanced at her friend. "I know someone else who would love that too."

"Well, I would," Saiph laughed. "But then, I like silly stuff like that. I'll come by here after school tomorrow and pick the hoodies up. I'll get the wrapping paper too."
Nodding decisively, the Primordial senshi smiled to herself thinking that she'd find a hoodie that suited Corvus while she was at it. What she wouldn't mention to her friend was that she had seen some wrapping paper that matched Corvus' tastes as well. And Saiph had no problems with making a series of presents within presents for the other girl. This was going to be FUN.
Rather than continue on the hoodie line of thought, she brought up another subject.
"I went to check on the tree yesterday. It's growing nicely, but it sure doesn't look like an earth tree."

Her brow furrowed slightly at the mention of the tree; not because it was growing nicely, or that it didn't look like an earth tree, but because of the memories it stirred up of the park. It had been hard to return there and she, unlike her fellow senshi, had been slacking in checking up on their sapling.
"It's in a quiet part of the park, though. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else in that particular glen other than us... With the exception of that night." 'That Night' still haunted her dreams from time to time and there were some parts of it that she would carry on with her forever. "I'm sure whoever finds it will just think it's a strange, new hybrid or something."

"Just as long as they don't try to uproot it or make a huge deal of it," Saiph's voice was a low growl. Clearly, she didn't like the idea of anyone messing around with their Tree. With a slight shudder, she brushed away the mention of That Night. She was in a good mood and didn't really want to destroy it too much.
And for that very sensible reason, she changed the subject yet again.
"So how about those Red Sox?"
Saiph had never claimed to be skilled in diplomacy or tact.

"Red socks? What about them?" Her head tilted as she glanced back at the window they'd just passed by, brow furrowing as she caught Saiph staring at her for a moment before the other girl burst out laughing.
"What?"
That question just seemed to make the other girl laugh harder, for all that it did nothing but frustrate the Senshi of Vengeance, she let it go... Or tried to, at least.
"Ugh, come on... We're not getting anything accomplished here tonight." She huffed softly, shaking her head slowly as she uncrossed her arms so that she could take Saiph by the arm, dragging her out of her nearly doubled-over pose until she was following her down the street. Arm in arm, they almost looked like two normal girls sharing a chat down the street... Almost.
And together they would continue on for another block or two, pausing here and there along their trail to point out something while chattering about something else. In the end, it wound up being a relatively quiet night; a good thing, for once, leaving the girls to part not with bruises and limps but with smiles and promises of shopping trips now planned.
Maybe, just maybe, Christmas wouldn't be so bad...
