Red ... and heat. A sharp pain on her paw ... Yelling and screaming ... And a comforting grip on the back of her neck ...
Mika flicked her eyes open to bright sunshine. What a scary dream... She stared at the clouds for a bit before rolling over on to her side and looking around, happy to see the world was nothing like that nightmare. She sniffed the crisp air, and despite being in a strange place, Mika felt very safe at the moment. She noticed many wildflowers to stick her wet, black nose in.
She saw a few other pups... Two black ones, a rusty colored one, and two brown ones. None of them seemed familiar to her. She stood up to greet them, but, as soon as she did, she felt a pain shoot through her paw and gave a loud yelp. She toppled over and put the injured paw immediately to her muzzle and tried to lick the wound. It was a cut, not very large or deep, but it still shook her.
Then she smelled it: smoke. She reeked of smoke. "What is going on?" she cried out, her eyes stinging already from the pain.

Nightpaw looked back over her shoulder as she heard a pup Yelp. "What happened?" she asked, padding over to the other pup more curious then worried. "Did something hurt you?" she asked not able to smell the pup's blood past the smell of smoke.

Kefira nodded, taking that meant he was fine. She heard a distant yelp, and glanced over. Sighing, she figured she'd go help the best she could.
"Where's the fire?" she asked, not realizing the double meaning in her own words. She glanced at the pup, noticing a small cut on her paw. "That's it? A tiny little cut?" she asked, unamused. "I'm done playing the nanny around here. If someone has a serious problem, come find me." she sighed, turning tail and trotting into the middle of the meadow. She sat down and closed her eyes, trying not to think of the disturbing memories.

Seph picks his head up when he hears the yelp, then lays his head back down, "well, someone else is awake. I wonder how many others there are around here."

Mika noticed that her yelp and her cry had gotten the attention of the other pups that were awake. As two trotted over to her, she pulled her paw away from her mouth so she could speak. It wasn't proper to speak with your mouth full, after all. "I cut myself, I think. But. I don't remember how." In reality, it was more of a nuisance than a true injury, but the fact that Mika couldn't remember how she had hurt herself scared her more than anything. She could have cut herself on one of those poisonous thorns.
She offered her paw to the black pup to show the cut that stretched across her metacarpal pad. "Do you think I'll be ok?"

Nightpaw shook her head, "I'm don't know. But it doesn't look bad. Maybe lick it when ever it hurts." She suggested. She knew nothing about injuries, but she knew she licked her paws when they hurt and it helped. "How did you cut it?" she asked curiously. "Not on a prickle plant I hope, mum told me they're poisonous."

Seph stood up and walk over to Mika and sniffed at her paw, then wrinkled his nose, "it smells moist and earthy. like moss. You should be fine. Just keep it clean."

Mika nodded in agreement when the black pup suggested to lick it. But her stomach twisted in a knot when she mentioned the prickle plant. "So it looks bad?" she gulped.
Another black pup came over, a boy this time. He sniffed her paw and told her it was healthy--for a cut. "Wow... you seem smart." She wagged her tail a bit.
Mika sat up, but kept her injured paw lifted off the ground so she wouldn't put pressure on it. "My name's Mika. How about you guys?"

Seph nods, "I'm Seph. and I'm not that smart really. I just know about wounds." he turns slightly to head back over to the tree he was under.

The pup's question was interrupted by the appearance of other pups. He followed, trying not to get too distracted by the lovely floating puffs of white from the dandelions in the meadow. There was a pup named Mika, and another named Seph-the quieter one. When Nightpaw mentioned prickle plants, the pup's attention was finally focused.
He padded over to Mika, putting his nose close to her paw. "I'm Corra." He gently licked her paw. It tasted funny, not like paw at all. He sat down, his tongue lolling about, trying to get the taste away.
Seph had vacated the small group of pups, and Kefira had moved away a bit, her eyes closed as a gentle breeze ruffled her fur. Corra looked at the sky. The sun was on the move. Already it seemed to be higher than it was when he woke up. "I'm still thirsty", he said, looking to the treeline. "If we find some water we can stick your paw in it, y'know?" He started moving toward the treeline, tail high as he walked, high stepping over the tall grass. "C'mon!"
