Amitiel watched and listened, he hated that this creature had got Caoimhe so worked up... it upset him, tore at his heart on a level he couldn't describe. He moved to her side and nuzzled her neck softly, uncarring for what her master may do to him, all that mattered was that SHE was happy. "Shhhhhh beauty....." he said in an effort to calm her futher before he turned to Vlad.

"I do not believe I am the best stallion for her no." He could not lie, he truely didn't believe he was..... but still..... "But I know that every day I will strive to make her happy, strive to become the best stallion I can be for her, strive to love and cherish her like no other..... until the day she" he exagerated the word, "dismisses me." He would say no more on the subject, the moment Caoimhe was done with him he would leave, even with a sad and heavy heart he would respect and honour her wishes..... always.

Caoimhe stilled almost instantly. The gentle touch from Amitiel calmed her down immediately. She wasn't sure why, but it did. Her eyes fluttered closed as she relaxed against her companion. All the anger she had felt frittered away in the wash of his warmth.

Caoimhe opened her eyes enough to regard Vlad as he laughed, then as he spoke. She let out a soft snort as he made his comment, "That is why it is not wise to assume."

As she heard Amitiel speak of leaving her heart ached. It was strange. In such a short time, he had quickly grown very very dear to her. She had no wish for him to leave. "Amitiel, I don't want you to leave. Not ever. Please stay with me."

Vlad snorted with distaste at the romance unfolding before him. He didn't like the angeni. He was too soft spoken, too gentle. Vlad had little respect for gentle stallions, they only tended to die in his homeland. He had still not gotten quite used to this new place but it seemed that softness was easier tolerated. His thoughts strayed briefly to his sister. If only he could have found her before he left and brought her with him. She would have liked it here... not that he ever intended to come to this strange place to begin with.

He refocused himself and his displeasure. He didn't like the stallion. There was no way to get around that. The end of his tail twitched with his irritation. No stallion who declared himself unworthy should be with Caiomhe, a jewel of a mare.

"If you fought me I might grow some respect for you," he said with a dark smirk. His bats had returned once more and their many beating wings cast quick moving shadows over him. "It vould prove that you have the strength to fight vhen necessary. If you cannot protect her then vhy do you think you should take her from someone who can?"

Amitiel stared at Vlad in disbelieve, then at Caiomhe. It seemed things were definatly not what they appeared anymore. One wanted him to fight and prove his worth... the other had declared she wanted him.

Still, Amitiel was not new to fighting, he just didn't believe now was the time for violence... after all, Amitiel had been more than prepared to fight the skinwalker to protect Caiomhe -had infact done just that- but this stallion had once been held in high regard for Caiomhe... and because of that he couldn't bring himself to do anything. He growled, the sound unnatural to his throat as he watched the flickering of shadows caused by the bats. "It seems you are all about tricks Vlad. There is no honour in your soul." Amitiel had noted that the other stallion was at least part Angeni.... yet his kalona half had obviously drowned out all the good. If there were two races that shouldn't mix it was Angeni and Kalona. The enermies of old.

Amitiel turned to Caiomhe, sometimes he wished he could lie..... but he couldn't. "I think we need to leave now. Or he will force us to fight." The intent was clear, and Amitiel was starting to get the vibe that if they didn't leave now... one of them wouldn't be leaving at all.

Caoimhe nodded her head in agreement. Amitiel was probably right. If they didn't leave now Vlad would make him fight, which would force her hoof and make her fight as well. Unfortunately, Caoimhe knew that this action too would most likely lead to a fight despite what they wanted. With a sigh, the white mare began to walk away, knowing that truthfully no matter would they did a fight was going to occur.

Vlad sneered while watching the mare that had once served him walk away. He was angry. He hadn't been exactly pleased at the start of the encounter and his mood had only gone downhill from there. In the days of his youth he would have torn apart the pathetic angeni with pleasure. He still remembered how the spray of hot blood against his face felt. He longed to feel that sensation again...

But he would not.

He would not tarnish the memory of his departed lifemate by turning back into the monster he had been when they met. "Go, then," he growled. His red eyes were narrowed to mere slits. "Go vithout my blessing or approval. Go vith this creature who vill flee or perish the first time that an enemy finds you in the night." He looked at Amitiel then and the danger he projected was apparent. "And you go as vell. I vill not tolerate another insult from you, so if you do not vish to fight then shut your mouth and leave. You know nothing of my honor and I vill not recount my deeds to appease you. So go."

Amitiel growled low, again a very out of character action but around Vlad he simply couldn't help himself. He was the Angeni of truth, and truth poured from all his pores, through his words and actions. It made keeping the truth difficult if someone knew him, most thankfully failed to take in the actions of another -dimissing them easily.

Amitiel senced no lie from Vlad as he spoke, knew that the stallion would attack should he speak to him again, and since he longed to be by Caoimhe's side, to be there for her, to keep her happy and well, to see her smile and dance, laugh and play.... he would not anger her old master more.

Instead he bowed roughly to the other stallion, after all he had in a way protected Caoimhe over the years while she was under his surface, he saw the truth of it in his eyes.... but that would end now, Amitiel would protect her. It was his duty and his pleasure.

With a quickened pace he rushed to the delicate Caoimhe's side, nipping on her mane gently in an effort to distract her from the sadness he could see in her eyes. The encounter had not gone as she had hoped... he knew that. She had wanted to share this with him, to bring two important people together, but instead she had been left with a choice, and for that he was sorry -yet thankful. The duel feeling confused him. "I am sorry Caoimhe." he said, wondering if he should share his biggest secret now... after all, had she not trusted him with a big part of her life?

Caoimhe sighed softly and gave the angeni stallion a sad smile. "I had a feeling it would go like this. I know how possessive Ma....I mean Vlad can be... It isn't your fault Amitiel."

She nuzzled him comfortingly. It wasn't really his fault, she should have known it was going to end up as it did. It couldn't be helped though. Vlad was picky and volatile. She knew she was going to make a choice, had actually already made it before hand. That was why she wanted to introduce the two, why she was leaving Vlad's service. She only prayed that they could leave without problems.
