He shut his eyes for a moment, he was trying to gain back some of his composure. Aww, she was going to make him choke again if she kept it up. xd

"The truth to you, maybe Peach. But not to me. So don't say it." After a long moment. "Please." Because in all truth, Uumi hated himself. He hated every breath he took and every word he said. Why else do you think he was a mean little jerk? Because he loved himself, no way!

He glanced to her again, watching her a moment. He knew what made females attractive, at lease in his own eyes since beauty was in the eye of the beholder. He would say Kib was very pretty, but not out loud. He new a few pretty females, actually.

Kiburi didn't understand the workings of Uumi's mind and the thought occurred to her that she probably never would. He was a complex male, one who tended to keep his feelings cooped up within him - except for his annoyance.

She'd never heard him say 'please' before though and guessed that perhaps she'd touched a sensitive subject. She'd never known anyone who would knock back a compliment, they were meant to make others feel happy not...not unhappy! Perhaps she had just said it wrong? She tried to think of a better way to word it but failed.

"I'm sorry." She replied after a while. "I never given a compli...compleemint before." Her nose wrinkled, "did I do it wrong?" She wasn't expecting to answer, it was more like wondering out loud.

Uumi's tail flicked and he chuckled slightly, hearing her apologize. He wsan't sure what was funny about it, just that it was. "You didn't do it wrong." He murmered, watching his paws. "I just don't want any compliments." He stated, taking a deep breath.

Even though she wasn't expecting an answer he gave one, which was very un-Uumi like. He stretched out his paws slowly, his whole body uncurling from where he'd been laying. Well, this was an odd silence.

"Oh!" She exclaimed, pleased that she hadn't done it wrong. Complimenting others - she had come to learn - was normally a good way to make friends or get others not to hurt you. Though as Uumi had proved it didn't always work.

"Why do you not want compliments Rocky?" She queried, "I always thought that friends do that sort of thing." She flexed her claws in the dirt before her, watching as they made small grooves in the dust. She was beginning to feel a little bashful again. "I don't mind that you can be grouchy, you're still a nice lion." She smiled.

His grouchiness had never really effected her in a bad way, it had simply made her knowledgeable in being careful around his sort, being subtle with her words - though with that she usually failed - and giving them their space.

He sighed a little, rolling to his back to watch the sky from a different angle. Why didn't he like compliments? He wasn't about to tell her that. And this crap with the friends again! Uumi didn't have friends, it simply wasn't done! "I just don't." He said, stubbornly. He wanted to add 'and friends do that, that's why we aren't friends'. But it seemed little ms. Peach had grown on him in some manner, so he did not say those words.

"And there you go with compliments again." He groaned, refering to the nice bit. "I am not nice." He spat, eyes narrowing at the sky. Well hopefully dealing with him would help her some way in the real world.

"Oops." she covered her mouth with both paws this time, not even realising that she was complimenting him. She was merely saying the truth and it hadn't occured to her that even nice truths could be painful.

As he rolled onto his back her eyes were caught upon his long, black-tufted tail. It was a habit of hers to pounce on tails, which she did often to her brother.

"Okay Rocky, you're not nice." Though the look of happiness on the face took away the genuinity of her statement.

Tail...tail swishing...tail free...tail needs to be pounced!! Her feline urges were almost impossible to resist and she shifted her weight a little, forepaws pounding gently on the ground in a playful manner.

"Rocky want to play?" She asked, already knowing the answer but wanting to ask anyway.

Uumi snorted and shook his head softly, he guessed it couldn't be helped if you were nice and wanted to say nice things. His ear flicked and his head turned so he could watch her paws a moment. And then he looked to her face when she asked him this.

No one ever asked him to play. Not that he'd accept anyways! "I don't play." He said, coolly. "Playing just gets my breathing messed up." He hissed, this time his words a bit bitter. That was the top most reason he didn't play as a cub or now, he couldn't breath well.

Kiburi had noticed his discomfort a few times in the past, mainly due to coughing fits. She'd never really thought that it would have a connection for him never playing though. Finally understanding rose within her and her eyes glittered throughtfully.

Her weakness had never really stopped her from playing, but rather kept games short. She couldn't run for very long without running out of breath and needing to stop.

"We could always play a game that doesn't involve running and pouncing." She chirped hopefully, though what that could be she wasn't too sure.

Her tail swished and her eyes settled upon him thoughtfully. It seemed each time she spoke with the red lion she learned something new about him.

Yep, that was the short of it. He still didn't understand why he had trouble breathing, even his twin seemed healthy and fine. He had no clue of the struggles of his birth.

"What type of game?" He almost sounded interested about this. If she could come up with one, he'd be impressed. He rolled back to his side, crimson orbs flicking up and meeting hers.

Kiburi's face was a picture or surprise and joy but she didn't say anything about it in case he changed his mind. Instead she tried to think of something they could play for a while, it would have to fun and not at all childish otherwise he'd just turn his nose up at it.

She let her eyes trail off to the horizon once more, picking out the shapes of the birds as they wound between the clouds.

What sort of game would Rocky be interested in though? He seemed to be a lion hard to please that was for sure. She thought back to previous meetings...all the way back to when they had first met.

When he had been kicking rocks around.

Ah ha! With a smooth movement she got up and let her eyes trace around the floor for any loose stones that she could find. After a moment of two she managed to pick some up in her jaws before carrying them back to where Uumi lay.

"How about this." She gestured towards the little pile of rocks she had collected. "the rules are pretty simple. We each take an equal amount, then roll them into here." She drew a circle in the dust with an extended claw. "The one who knocks out the most of their opponents rocks wins." She smiled proudly, "how does that sound?"

He stared at her, watching her get things ready. Rocks? >_> of course she'd make fun of him by playing with rocks while calling him Rocky. Uumi was so paranoid.

But he listened patiently to what kind of game she had in mind, it didn't sound half bad. "Do we get all of the rocks in the circle.. and then shoot at them with a different rock?" Shooters, they might be called, used each time to knock out the opponant's rocks. "And how do we tell the difference between mine and yours?" He brought up some good points, but at least he was coopperating.

Kiburi was caught a little offguard by his questions, mainly because she hadn't thought of it. However he did bring up a very good point. They needed to make atleast half of the rocks distinguishable from the others so they could tell them apart. Would claws be strong enough to mark them?

She rolled one beneath her paw, unsheathing her claws in order to try and scratch the surface. It made a small mark but nothing that obvious. It would mean paying a lot of attention.

"Yep that's the idea...though you're right about telling the rocks apart." She glanced around as if expecting the answer to be nearby but found nothing that might help.

"I suppose we could roll some in mud or something but that might effect how the rocks move along the ground." She glanced at him, "you have any ideas? Maybe your claws will work better than mine on the rock?"

He watched still, doing nothing for several moments. Of course he was right, why would he ever be wrong? "Mud would certainly ruin the way it rolled.." He rose and moved toward her cautiously, unsheathing his claws and trying his paw at it. It seemed his claws were sharper, they seemed to make a more noticable mark. He got to doing it to all of the rocks. "Better?" He murmered slowly, glancing to her.

"Yay!" She bounced on her paws lightly and nodded, "you have good claws, mine must need to be sharpened or something." She grinned, making a mental note to do that before she left...just in case.

"Yep, that's good." Then she sorted the marked rocks into different piles, one for him and one for her.

"Okay, do you want to go first?" She offered, settling herself beside the roughly drawn circle. The sun was rising higher and cast a delicious warmth upon her pale back, making her feel very comfortable.

"Hmph." He murmered. Well he spent a lot of time scraping them against rocks.

No he didn't want to go first, he felt ridiculous even if this game was a pretty good one. He sighed and shrugged. "If I have to." He murmered, and he took one of his rocks and flicked it with a paw, making it roll into the circle. And almost to the other side. Well that was a bad toss.
