It was true that Envy had correctly guessed that normally it was a momentous effort for Steve to put any more thought into choosing his daily outfit than scooping whatever he had thrown on the floor that didn't smell too bad. Unfortunately, there was no way for the Avarice Demon to have known that a cousin twice removed on Steve's mother's side and on speed dial #7 for emergency pre-date consultation was Tim Shunn.
Tim arrived speedily, dressed immaculately in a black suit and tie. He took in Steve's current state of dress -- accessorizing, as always, with splotches of yesterday's chinese food takeout -- and peered down at him over the top of his glasses. "Talk to me."
"Okay," Steve immediately started, "I think that -- I think that fire would be pretty cool. You know? Who wouldn't want to wear a Burning Shirt and matching Burning Bracers? I think Envy would be like damn, why didn't I think of that first?"
There was a pause. "This worries me," Tim admitted, "I must admit I am rather concerned as to what they're teaching you at that school of yours."
"I graduated," protested Steve in a tiny voice, even knowing the world's habit of ignoring him in favor of plot devices, "Four years ago!"
"We're off to Brood!" Decided Tim with an emphatic snap of his fingers. Immediately a limo pulled up outside. Against his better judgement, Steve accompanied him and was featured in an episode of Tim Shunn's Guide to Style and learned many things about fashion and had his heart grow five sizes that day and all sorts of things that we're never going to hear about.
Finally, with a send-off of "Make it work!", Steve returned dressed to the nines, ready to show up Envy once and for all.

Honestly where were these people coming from, and where there more? He certainly hoped not. The last one was annoying enough and this one just had him grinding his teeth, such an arrogant looking demon.

Accessory #1: Glaive of Worldly Diamond - Diamonds were important and held value, lots of it. This wasn't even just a diamond but it was worldly, whatever that meant in this case. Lets see how a diamond can be beaten.
Accessory #2: Blessed Demon's Mandolin of the Incatation of Fire - Well the idiot was a demon so lets use a demon item. Maybe something with fire and him will happen too....and he'll go away...

"This is ridiculous." I didn't want to deal with Greed and I certainly don't want to deal with this dude. "Where are you idiots coming from any way?" Mullet Boy just taps his foot and points to a clock impatiently. What? He's even too good to talk to 'lowly' little me? Ung.

Steve had no idea what exactly he was meant to be doing. Hell, he was an average guy, what made anyone think that he'd taken fashion courses? He had this book on demons and he'd gotten a look at the demon in question himself and that was pretty much it. Seriously, what kind of sadist was this guy? It seemed like an impossible challenge.
Taking heed from the evilness of demons, and the fact that envy was a kind of self-absorbed emotion and you know could turn into a snake, he made his choices. "Here goes," he said, straightening the coat. It was kind of squirmy and snake-y, which he should have figured from the names. Generally it was an uncomfortable outfit, which he figured was good. Fashion never looked comfortable, anyway.

Steve had only just gotten away from the first weirdo when yet another one popped out. The green and black demon, whose name Steve tuned out, laid out his challenge: to pick out an outfit worthy of the demon.
Face blank, Steve turned and began walking away when the demon simply whisked them both away. There was a moment of darkness, and then Steve was inside someone's (very tacky) bedroom. Piles of clothes and accessories covered what Steve assumed was a bed somewhere under all the clutter.
"This seems a little gay," he told the demon. Seriously, kidnapping another guy away to your bedroom and asking him to pick out clothes for you. "I don't swing that way. Actually, I've got this hot girlfriend-"
"Lilith," Envy said. "And if you want to keep dating her, you need to defeat me! ... By picking me out a fabulous outfit."
'So gay,' Steve decided. But it didn't seem like he was going anywhere until he agreed, so he blustered through some vague acceptance and Envy finally left. So he could be 'surprised' by the outfit chosen.
Steve had no idea what the demon liked. He'd seemed fond of green and black, which made Steve think of snakes. So he tossed anything snake-y or reptile-y he could find into a new pile on the bed. Lastly he added an accessory that had tried to set him aflame. Snakes liked to be warm, right? Or so Steve would tell the kidnapping freak. Steve was really just hoping the demon would set himself on fire accidentally...
