"Yes, sweetheart. We're all going." Seeing the way Peregrine looked at the pups, Shannah couldn't help but feel glad that he had sired them. It got her thinking. Could he be a better parent to raise them than she?
She tried to put the thought out of her mind as she followed him, a grace beginning to replace her old impulsiveness. Being a mother had taught her to rein in the impulses somewhat...though that wasn't to say they weren't still there. They still often surfaced when the pups weren't around and she could really relax. Not that there were many times like that, but it was okay. She was happy - and feeling oddly fulfilled - being a mommy.
She also occasionally had to rein in Conall. He'd probably be a leader, that one. Already so bold. She smiled wryly at his antics as he ran ahead and chased leaves while they walked.

Aislin was definitely not a leader.
Nor was she precisely a follower. Indeed, it took some effort to keep her from wandering off entirely and looking around on her own, but she resisted the urge. She didn't want mother to get mad for ruining this big family moment.
Ambling along behind the others, she glanced around, finally having the chance to soak in the sights. The real world looked pretty much the same everywhere, she thought, but maybe it could surprise her. She was willing to give it a chance.
