"Last I heard" Derecho told her - honestly after their first meeting Derecho hadn't made much of an effort to get to know the mostly white wolf, he'd jut been busy dealing with other things he told himself hough that was hardly an excuse for not getting to know him better. Of course in their pack it wasn't unusual for wolves to come and go at a fairly quick pace.
What was unusual however was the way Terreis had asked after him - sure she'd been the one to find in on pack lands and offer him (sort of) a place to stay as was their custom - but she'd never bothered asking about a male before and that made Derecho both a touch suspicious and curious at the same time "Why do you ask?"

Well damn, she thought, of course he would still be around. And now that she had brought the subject up there would be no way to avoid answering Derecho's question. Sighing she kept her eyes on the river for some time trying to find the right words to say. "Oh no reason." The words slipped out before she could stop herself. Well that's just stupid, why couldn't she just say it. Probably because even after this amount of time she still did not like to admit to herself of the truth. giving her head a solid shake Terreis decided the best approach was to just say it, though she kept her eyes on the water.
"He's my father." She admitted begrudgingly. She hated him for it, all these years she had gone without ever knowing who her father was and never once cared to know. Even after her mother died she never once thought about her unknown father and now he not only just happened to stumble upon the packs he lived in but apparently was sticking around as well.

..That certainly wasn't the answer he had expected to hear and Derecho - for once - was a bit short on words. At least he remembered to snap his jaw shut after only a few moments of gaping at her in a slack jawed fashion. IT was silly really - I mean Terreis had to have had a father just like the rest of them, she hadn't just mysteriously been conceived and birthed by her mother alone - though that was easier to believe then actually thinking of Adonai as her father.
He cleared his throat, thinking furiously. Now would be a good time to be a good supportive mate and while lots of wolves would be overjoyed to meet a long lost father - he well recalled the resentment he and Aleu had felt when his own had returned and given Terreis upbringing he was pretty sure she wasn't in the leaping with joy about it category. "I can see why your mother would have chose him" He finally offered in an attempt to place a good light on it that she would understand "He seems like a good solid wolf, both in temperament and body"

Perhaps she should be grateful that Derecho was trying to be supportive of her at this moment, but she didn't, she was still too angry over the fact that her father had showed up after all these years. "He called me Kaelin when he first came here, though I was my mother." There was a bit of bitterness in her voice at that, she loved her mother dearly but being mistaken for her was a bit of a sore spot, much like when she was often mistaken for Varia. Was it her fault that they shared such similarities in their coat patterns that no one could tell them apart? No, it wasn't.
She may not want to come right out and say it, but what bothered her most of all about Adonai's presence here was that it kept reminding her of her mother. Terreis had never properly mourned for her mother and often blamed Varia for her death as she had been forced to leave her and Iosef behind so long ago. Rising to a sitting position Terreis did her best to block out those memories, hardened warrior or not the pain of her mothers death was still relatively fresh even if it had happened well over a year ago. In fact it was best to just change the subject completely. "Want to go hunting?" She questioned hoping that he would agree and not bring up the former subject again until she was ready to deal with it.

Derecho wisely decided not to say the first thing that came to his head - that being that from what she'd told him of her mother being compared to her wasn't such a bad thing. But he'd heard the bitterness in her voice and managed to keep that though to himself.
He merely licked her cheek in silent support before she rose to a sit, face hardening into her more typical look before she changed the subject "A hunt sounds good" He agreed, rising and stretching, perhaps some exercise would put Terreis back into a good mood. "I saw an old deer to the south earlier this morning" He offer helpfully.

An old deer sounded like the perfect prey, still challenging and yet not as dangerous as the younger and stronger deer. Giving her muscles a quick stretch Terreis bumped Derecho's shoulder light before padding off. "Come on then, I'm sure the two of us can handle that no problem." Leading the way Terreis hoped that the hunt would clear her thoughts and give her a reason not to be angry for the remainder of the day. And with a quick glance over her shoulder to ensure her mate was following Terreis trotted through the trees heading south to where the deer hopefully still were.
