Anya was a little relieved that Macchi had chosen not to continue that particular line of questioning--it had been on Anya's and her sisters' minds too much lately, and they were all trying to focus on the present, rather than living in the past.
But Macchi's next question did take her by surprise--a test? She laughed, a beautiful, musical sound. "No, they did not make me take a test, and I ahve been a member of the Flock for...mm, a long time," Anya said with a soft chuckle.
"However, it is our custom to show our strength. Even nannies like myself," Anya said wit ha dry chuckle. "Not against other sisters, of course," Anya clarified, curious to see what Macchi might think she meant.

Macchi nodded pondered what she meant by strength. Physical, or mental? Physical wouldn't be a problem, since she came from a line of strong, powerful horses. Once she exercised a little and went out for runs again, she'd get back to her top shape. But if the strength Anya was talking about was psychological, she'd need to build that up somewhat. Although she felt that she was doing well for such a large change in one day.
She took a look around her and couldn't help but continue to be mesmerized by the mountains. "What lies beyond the mountains?" she couldn't help but ask after a brief silence. "And where is your home?" she wondered whether they'd be safe sleeping by the mountains, because she had a feeling the walk would take somewhat longer than merely a day.

Anya shrugged lightly at her first question--she had never given much thought to what lied behind or beyond them; she had been too focused on first her Flock then staying alive when everything turned bad.
"I don't know," Anya admitted simply, tail swishing behind her absently. There were few she felt she could admit not knowing something to--she liked to be seen as perfect and wonderful, like she was.
"It is in the forest, perhaps a day or so's walk from here," Anya answered. "We live in the trees--but since you do not have wings, you would have to make your nest on the ground. Obviously." Anya added as an afterthought, shrugging indifferently.
"Tell me, Macchi. How do you feel about males?"

Macchi nodded obediently, listening to what Anya said. Her question threw her off guard too. She pondered quietly what Torren meant to her. Deep down, she wasn't that fond of him, but just wanted to have children so that she could treat them better than she was treated. And, Torren had vowed never to mate with another mare other than her...
"Well, I'm not as obsessed with males as my mother. I have somewhat of a lifemate, but I don't care for him. I just want children, and he insisted on lifemating." she had second thoughts, and continued, "although I don't mind some love once in a while. Its nice to know that someone likes you." Saying so made her feel weak and desperate, but she wanted to let Anya know how she truly felt.
